4 out of 5 eggsIt's OKAY.. functional....sturdy....boring.

Pros: The case is still functional and intact without any problems over a year after purchasing it... with a little bit of work I was able to install the case fan on the bottom as advertised, installing two case fans on top not a problem at all... but ..and some might argue this is painfully obvious but... you're going to need some REALLY long screws to install those two case fans into the front side (side the CD ROM and so forth would be in) of the PC case, screws that a case fan will probably not come with when you buy it.. also, it's hard for me to get excited about this case compared to the very-low-after-rebate price of the Ultra Defender gaming cases (PC case), so easy to install stuff in that case it's breathtaking, lots of included extras and the case looks SO cool especially with the included LED case lights :( .. in comparison to that .. well it's a good case and all but I find the Cougar Steel Gamer Case to be sort of....boring.. in comparison. Other reviewers have commented thoroughly enough on the case to the point where I don't need to add any more info on the case but... just kind of hard to get excited about this case now that I've seen the ultra defender ones :( ...

Cons: Have to admit I'm definitely loving my Ultra Defender II ATX Mid-tower Gaming Case more (both the white and the black versions which I have - do a search for it on that famous online retailer whose name begins with "a" and means same as "warrior woman" and has been in the news re: it's intended use of delivery drones (nope, newegg won't let me list their competition by name in reviews :P ) and you'll see my review of the case .... as in I'm loving it much more than this Cougar case!

With the Ultra Defender case I don't need to resort to long screws I need to drive up to Home Depot to purchase, the case is designed so well that I was able to use the included screws that come packaged with the case fan and still install a case fan on the bottom of the PC, and very easily at that !

Also I find the usb 3.0 ports in front of the case are hit and miss .. sometimes they work at usb 3.0 speeds like they should, sometimes they don't ... whereupon the usb 3.0 ports on the back of the case (which of course are hardwired directly into the motherboard and don't rely on cougar's case or the usb 3.0 cable that is part of the case) work great every time. I'll admit that I haven't tried usb 3.0 speeds on the Ultra Defender cases yet mainly because the motherboards in them don't support usb 3.0, for all I know this could be a problem with a lot of PC cases far as usb 3.0 front ports but it was...disappointing.

And when you consider the low price I got the Ultra Defender cases for in the year 2014.. not sure if the review bots let me post dollar amounts but .. after rebates (and yes I did get the rebates back as promised as a matter of fact ;) ) the case cost roughly the same as the bill with Andrew Jackson on it, put it that way ... and for the price you get a very well designed case with a cool clear transparent side panel you can look through to see all the stuff inside the PC (again see my ultra defender review elsewhere)... just really hard to get excited about this case when you compare the two and not just for the side panel thing alone.... I suppose if it's the only case that has rebates offered at the time you need a case go for it, it's functional enough... just not my favorite case by any means...

2 out of 5 eggsMissing

Pros: Its all black. Screwless design. Room for 7x120mm fans, or 5x120 mm and 1x 140mm fan. Has USB 3.0.

Cons: Product manual that comes in box claims room for 2x 120mm fans on front panel but does not clearly explain how to mount with provided screws. Nor does it explain what the A,F, and M letters mean on the motherboard mounting holes.

Side panel does not come with 120mm fan filters.

No Reset button.

Only 1 USB 3.0 port (other is 2.0, printing on case does not differentiate between the two USB ports

USB 2.0 cable is not properly routed given design of PCB and Header location. There is a hole for cable to go but instead does not go through the hole and is smashed at 180 degrees between pcb and case frame.

Room for 3x 5.25 drives, 7 HDD or 5 HDD and 2 FDD but only comes with 2x 5.25 drive, 2x HDD and 1x FDD screwless mounting brackets.

Other Thoughts: This case is not worth the $60 I paid for it not even with free P/S2 keyboard.

5 out of 5 eggsVery good case for the money

Pros: Thin
Two front USB 3.0 ports
Plenty of fan mounting locations

Cons: Drive quick-connectors are kinda flimsy
No reset switch

Other Thoughts: This is a great case if you are looking for a thin and compact ATX mid tower. It has plenty of room for case fans, two 120mm on top, two 120 mm in front and one already mounted on the back. My only issue is that if you have any of the 3.5" bays filled, this eliminates the ability for one of the front fans to be mounted. Other than that gripe this is a great case for the price.

3 out of 5 eggsNot the greatest case, but definitely not the worse.

Pros: Clean case. not too bad looking, affordable.

Cons: bought this case noticing that it featured dual fan ports on the top. when i got it i started installing things and had a horrible time getting things to fit.. my water cooler still doesnt fit right, radiator was able to mount but the fans are stuck on the exterior of the case.

extremely bland. nothing fancy about this case, i added some blue led's to mine to try and spruce it up some.. still lame.. but oh well.

no transparent side panel.

VERY cheep metal.

4 out of 5 eggsYou Get What You Pay For

Pros: 1. Plenty of HDD slots
2. Plenty of fan slots
3. Nice area in the back to route wiring
4. Nice sturdy wiring for front ports.

Cons: 1. Top fans intrude down onto the motherboard area. For another 1" of height this would have been a nonissue; instead it left me trying to figure out how to get fans and motherboard (with aftermarket cpu cooler) both in.

2. Only 2 "screwless" HDD mounts. What's the point of 6 bays if you only have 2 screwless? In addition I haven't managed to find a place to buy more.

3. HDD "screwless" really isn't screwless. If you need to be sure it's secure, you have to add screws from the back. The screwless only supports the front.

4. Same problem with 5.25" external bays. 3 bays, 2 mounts. Can they just not count, maybe? lol

5. Side panel (with thumb screws) is slightly off center - the screw holes don't line up quite right with the case. This is even with nothing IN the case, so it wasn't a matter of me having stuffed the case too full.

Other Thoughts: Although it's nice to have that cutout area in the back, it's not quite wide enough if you plan on using more than one HDD slot. Each HDD means extra wiring that needs to be routed out of the way of air flow...and after the PSU/MB/front panel connections are routed you just run out of room. I ended up not installing a bottom fan so I could route wires down into that area and it wouldn't block TOO much air flow...

For an extra 1" height and 1/2" width, this case would be a lot easier to build into. For a little more attention to detail(thumb screws) when the case was manufactured, I wouldn't have decided that I wouldn't be buying Cougar again.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat case

Pros: Good sized mid-tower case with wire management to hide wires in the back panel. Great ventilation and space for lots of case fans (if you need them).

Cons: Would have been nice if cougar kept the hdd slot at the top of the case.

4 out of 5 eggsliquid cooling wont fit

Pros: it seems a decent enough case

Cons: the case seems a little flimsy, but that seems to be the normal these days unless your spending 100+ on a case

Other Thoughts: just an FYI, this case will not fit any top mounted radiator and fans & if you have a large video card, it cant mount on the side either. I researched it the best i could, but ultimately it was my mistake.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: - Stable, cheap, good-looking case
- Easy to manage cables
- Came with an abundance of materials, such as screws

Cons: - Only comes with one fan (it's a budget case though, and you can buy more)
- Space is tight, took just a little bit of trouble fitting in an aftermarket cooler

Had a lot of trouble installing my motherboard. The spaces for the standoffs don't seem to be accurate and I was afraid that I damaged it during installation. Everything worked out fine in the end.

Other Thoughts: It's a great case if you don't encounter the spacing issues. You should probably get some extra case fans as this case only comes with one. It's a decent case for my first actual build, but with the problems I encountered, I don't think I will want to have the displeasure of building in this case again.

4 out of 5 eggsWhy so sad?

Pros: 6 HDD bays
1 SSD mount (not listed in specifications!) use straight SATA power and data cables to not have any issues like other reviewers complained about.
The front panel pulls off contrary to multiple reviews. No screw removal necessary.
Multiple fan mounting points(6+) with air filters as well.

Cons: I hadn't realized it was a swinging style access panels and had trouble opening it the first time trying to slide the panel backwards.
Also no orange fan as pictured with mine, but it's only a fan.
Only three drive locking brackets which are only for one side. That doesn't matter to me though since I don't trust them I use screws instead anyway.

Other Thoughts: Yes there is a filter under the power supply, however no air can be pulled through it since the power supply pulls air from within the case not through the bottom. So why are people worried about cleaning it??

I wouldn't consider this case fragile, or maybe I just take care of my things. It's a computer, not a footrest, not a dumbbell, you don't drop it!

It does only come with 2 mobo standoffs, and you only need one for ATX. The case has built in risers and only one is used for the center mobo mount which mine had a pilot peg already installed which I removed to be my ground point with a standoff.
