4 out of 5 eggsGood for a first build, probably wouldn't buy again

Pros: -looks awesome
-airflow is pretty great
-watercooling ready
-built in hot swap bay
-interior looks great through the window (with extra leds)

Cons: -9 HD bays, cool but unnecessary.
-lots of space where I didnt need it, there is very little space between the top of the case and the mobo, so putting a radiator in the top is not an option, and maybe 3/4 of an inch of space in the back for cable management, everything is shoved in there.

-manual is basically useless, there are some seemingly random cables for the onboard usbs and the hot swap, and the usb cable doesnt have a locking tab, so it slips right out unless its set perfectly.

Other Thoughts: This case is good for a first build, single gpu, and will get the job done. I realized I wanted more space than a mid tower, so that is my own first build mistake, but cable management was a hassle

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome case!

Pros: This case is awesome! First, it looks amazing! The front panel is a piano black gloss against black metal mesh that really makes it stand out. It's a mid-tower case, but it's quite large with plenty of room for your goodies. It's almost as big as my old tower, but not quite so I found it to be the perfect size. I love it! The top power/reset switch is very cool, with it's flip up protector. Also having the hot-swap bay for 3.5 SATA drives is AWESOME! I love this feature. Drives slide and snap in easily. This sure beats always having to open the side of my case to plug in drives, which I do often. Great design and function point!

Lots of very nice features as well; including tool-less design for hard drives and 5.25 bays and thumb screws for side panels. The side window is very nice (I wasn't sure how it would look from observing the pictures on NewEgg, but it turns out that it looks amazing and shows off my lighted RAM modules awesome). Virtually all of the fan intake sections have magnetic removable filters, which is just awesome! The front panel snaps on and off easily (also revealing the large 200mm fan). I love that when the front panel is removed, everything allows super easy access to your 5.25 bays and fan removal, all without having to worry about cables, wires or power button controls. Just snap it off and get to all your front-end components easily.

It is so easy to work with this case. Snapping in components is a breeze. I'm not using it for water cooling at this time, but there is plenty of room for a system. I installed 2 extra 140mm Red LED fans for the top of the case and positioned them for hot air exhaust. There is a fine mesh screen affixed to the top-inside section of the case, which seems to be intended to provide marginal filter support if used for intake fans. Not sure I like that design or not (especially since I'm using this section for exhaust and it restricts a little bit of airflow)... I would have preferred to see some kind of removable filter on the top of the case, but again, it's not enough to deduct a star.

The front panel, aside from looking mean and awesome, has the added benefit of being lined with a soft filter-like mesh behind the metal mesh, which should help protect from dust a bit. Since the whole front panel removes easily with no wires attached, it should make dusting simpler. Overall this case has decent protection from dust with the exception of the lower part of the front panel, which does have some areas around the side that have no filtration.

The back/side panel of the case provides adequate room for hiding cables, though I would have preferred a raised panel design to provide just a bit more - but this is also not enough to deduct a star. This case has pretty much everything you could want for a decent price point. It's also very light. It has nice, thick rubber feet on it that raise it up off the floor at least an inch and a half. Sick case!!!!

Cons: As mentioned, I do love this case, but I did run into a few snags with my order, which forced me to RMA it. The first case arrived with the front panel completely broken. There was no damage to shipping box itself; just to the case inside. Several 5.25 bezels were bent and the little pegs around the edge of the panel that allow it to snap into the case body were all broken, except for one at the top... On the positive side here, that one peg on the top still managed to keep the panel on so long as nobody bumped it. So I guess there's hope for down the road even if I manage to break it. Still, it was very disappointing to get a new case and have it busted in pieces out of the box.

Unfortunately, the RMA process was a bit of a bummer for me to start out. NewEgg intended to charge me $21 bucks to ship it back to them (that was their discounted rate offer). This was very aggravating, considering I had already plucked down $89 to buy the case in the first place and received it broken and I was now going to have to pay more and delay my build as well. I ended up talking to a different person in customer service and they got the shipping cost waived and sent me a pre-paid label. Thank you for that NewEgg. I boxed it up and shipped it back immediately. It took about week total for the case to get back and to get my new case in return, so not overly terrible, but when you add that to my having already waited almost a week to get the first case, it made the process seem long and I was just really anxious to get my system put together.

My RMA hassle leads me to caution that this is likely a negative concerning the case, in that the front pegs (which are just molded plastic) could easily break. Hopefully I will not have that problem going forward, but it's certainly going to make me be far more cautious with this case. I'm deducting one star because of the RMA issue I had and the fact that this case may be a little flimsy on the front panel.

As I mentioned previously, I do think the top section where the fans install needs a little attention concerning the dust screen there. It's oddly designed. I would much rather see a removable design. Cougar already did a beautiful job with the side panel intake and the bottom by adding magnetically-removable filters. Why not something similar here? This is not a major issue at all, but just was a little odd.

Some people might also feel that the top of the case looks a bit unfinished. The section where the radiator and fans go is just holed metal. It might have been nice to see some kind of finished cover that snaps on and off. Not a major point for me, because I actually prefer the flat case top (I use it to set my external drive on). It's just that when you look at the case by itself and you see the cool looking front and the wicked side panel and window, the top just looks like it's missing a part.

Finally, I would have liked to see them continue with a complete tool-less design.

Other Thoughts: If anyone happens to be on-the-fence because of my negative comments about the front panel of the case, let me just add that the replacement case had no problems at all and the front panel snaps on and off beautifully. I can't say enough how much I love that there are no wires at all connected to the front panel, which makes adding and removing 5.25 bay devices or changing fans a total breeze.

Aside from my concerns about the front panel, the case does not feel "flimsy" overall. It is light-weight but sturdy and extremely functional and looks awesome!

I forgot to mention that there is also a 120mm exhaust fan on the back, which is awesome.

If you are considering buying the case, I would still say go for it. I do love mine! For me, the top slot for snapping in hard drives is a total win! I love that feature! I'm also not a fan of cases with a door on the front, so an open panel design that looks this cool is absolutely a major positive. I mentioned this briefly earlier, but the entire metal mesh for the front panel is backed by a soft-mesh filter material, which will help to keep dust out of the case. To clean, just snap off the panel and go nuts with your air can outside........ Be careful not to break that panel though. ;) See, I'm totally spooked about that now. hahaha...

Seriously cool case. Seems to promote very good air-flow and keep things very cool and clean. I love it, love it, love it.

The case also comes with a manual, motherboard screws, magnetic filters for the side and bottom, and extra drive holders for the internal drive bays. The case was packaged in a sturdy box with foam supports and wrapped in plastic. The glossy parts of the front panel have plastic protection covering the finish that you can peel off to reveal its piano black, space-age beauty. Overall, it's packaged and protected well for shipment. I do tend to think the front panel should be shipped disconnected from the case body to avoid shipping damage, but I digress.

A worthy purchase!

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Case

Pros: Spacious, and very light. Easy to work with and adjust.

Cons: seems a little flimsy, but not terrible.

Other Thoughts: I didn't know what to expect from this case but so far I really like it. You can manage your cables easily and it looks nice. It isn't built like a tank, but with that price tag what do you expect. I would recommend this case for others.

5 out of 5 eggsSleek looking, versatile and great features

Pros: For my new PC build, I decided to replace my outdated case which served me for over eight years. I chose the Cougar Challenger based on its looks and features. I have been impressed with it since I unpacked it. Cougar has put some thought into this case.

The first thing I noticed when I unpacked the case was that it was lighter than my previous one. Of course this may vary for you. Opening the case was a breeze. The side panels are held in place with thumb screws and the front panel was easily dislodged and removed. I did not see any tabs on the front plate that would be damaged when the front panel is removed. Putting the case back together was also easy. It would probably be best to lay the case on its side when putting the side panels back on, but wasn't very difficult to do so upright. The case feet look to be about an inch high and thick. This provides adequate air intake for the bottom mounted fan and PSU. The case also includes a package of multiple sized screw for different applications.

The case came with two fans. The fans weren't installed as described, but moving them demonstrated how easy it is to install the fans in the case. Cougar sells a 140mm red LED (N82E16835553013) and 120mm red LED (N82E16835553010) fan that match the included 200mm red LED fan. (As of this writing, I am unable to find a separate sale 200mm red LED fan.) The top dust filter is held in place with four two-piece tab assemblies. If you plan to install one or two 140mm fans up top, the tabs will need to be removed, and the filter will be held in place by the fans. I removed the tabs by using my fingernails to pry out the tab and then pushing the tab sleeve out. The side and bottom dust filters are held in place with magnets and are easily removed. See my other thoughts for my fan placement.

Both the internal and external drive bays have a screw-less design. The internal drive bays have removable trays. All of my drives are firmly held in place. 2.5 drives are supported by converting a 3.5 bay to a 2.5 bay. If your graphics card requires, or you like the extra room, remove the 3.5/2.5 bay. The 2.5 drives can be placed on 3.5 tray and secured with the included screws. The 3.5 trays have pre-drilled holes for 2.5 drives. Converting the 3.5 bay to a 2.5 bay is straight forward. Unscrew the bays side wall, move the wall to the inner slots, then screw the bay wall in.

I really like the hot-swap and top mounted ports. It is easier to plug in a USB cable while sitting than if the ports were on the front of the panel. This also keeps look of the front panel clean. Do keep the port placement in mind if your PC is placed at desk top level or higher. The front panel and hot-swap cables fit between the motherboard tray and the side panel to keep them out of view.

The case is designed to attach the motherboard directly to it without the need for multiple risers. There is one riser installed with a nub to help with placement of the motherboard. Or, you could r

Cons: Instructions could be a little bit more clear.

Other Thoughts: I've been looking for a Cougar 200mm red LED fan to match the one included with the case. Looks like I'll be contacting Cougar shortly to see how I can get one. Until then, I have the 200mm in the front, two 140mm red LED (N82E16835553013) in the top and one 140mm red LED (N82E16835553013) in the bottom. The case looks really sharp with the lights turned off. I may grab some green LED fans and go for an alien glow when I get some time.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Airflow

Pros: This case i great if your looking for maximum airflow as with my gamming rig I have a great need for keeping my components cool. I have my amd 8350 overclocked to 4.6GHz not too impressive but nothing to shrug off either. My radeon 7870 HD graphics is also overclocked & at max volts of 1.3 on the core as well as my ASUS Croshair v Formula z having digi-power settings set to max. As you can see this makes for enough heat to cook an egg, so this case is perfect in terms of keeping my system from silicone death by heat.

Cons: the only big down side that I can see for this case is theres absolutely no sound dampering features or anti vibration mechanisms in place for the fan spots or where the optical and HDD bays are.

Other Thoughts: over all this case is great for a gamming rig or keeping things really cool

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Case

Pros: This is a excellent case hence the title. There is a lot of space inside. I love how the Red LED compliment the black casing. The case have a unique style especially the on/off button.

Cons: Removing the side panel is easy, but putting it back on take a bit time (I recommend putting it on it side when trying to put the side panel back on)

Other Thoughts: Get a 14cm red LED fan for the side

4 out of 5 eggsNice case

Pros: Case looks nice

Cons: Bottom filter will warp when the case gets warm, Need to add fans for proper ventilation, Noise escapes the case easily so you can hear the fans quite well, Not enough tie down points for cable management, It's still a nice case just be aware of its limitations.

Other Thoughts: For the same price I would go Cooler Master.
