5 out of 5 eggsModest, but handsome - great cooling!

Pros: - Professional look.
- Cable-routing simple.
- Cool black interior with usual Cougar orange highlights.
- Space for five 120mm fans.

Cons: - Metal a bit thin, but WAY better than any case I've seen in this price range - solid once assembled.

Other Thoughts: This is an EXCELLENT case for this price! I had another Cougar case, but I was getting tired of the exterior orange highlights and GIANT size. I have seen reviews that state the metal is too thin, I have no problem with it since it is rock-solid once built, and way lighter than any case I've ever had. I love the quality of Cougar cases for the excellent prices! This is my favorite case to date!

4 out of 5 eggsMiddle of the Road

Pros: The biggest pros for this case in my opinion were the look and price. It's actually a really nice looking case for what you pay.

Solid build quality, not a lot of flex in the case as a whole. The front panel pops off easily, but is firmly held in place.

Two included dust filters. Front panel and PSU. The front panel filter has a bit of an odd design, you actually attach the 120MM fans to the filter itself, and then the whole assembly snaps into place. It works, and it does not rattle or fall out, it's held nice and snug.

Plenty of room for long GPU's. I am using an XFX Radeon 7970 Black Edition with a Gelid Icy Vision-A cooler in this specific build.

You can easily fit a full ATX build in the case, though I do recommend a modular PSU to make your life easier.

The HDD/SSD mounting trays work well, they are not the type that simply fit over your drive and are held in place by pins. These do require screws to hold the drives in place on the trays.

The 5 1/4 bay quick releases do work, but they are only included on one side. They will hold an optical drive in place pretty easily. However in my case, I had to use screws, since this build has no optical drive, but it does have a fan controller.

Cons: Cable management, this is something the case is lacking. I knew this going into the build, but was still somewhat surprised at how little space you actually have to work with. So this is something to keep in mind. A modular PSU can save you a lot of time and effort.

I ended up using a standard Cougar PSU in this case since it fit the theme of the build, so I had to get really creative with my cable management. So it can be done, and it can be made to look nice, but it's going to take time and patience, and perhaps a bit of out-of-box thinking.

The expansion bay covers on the back of the case are the old style punch out kind. You basically wiggle it back and froth until it breaks off. It only comes with a single replaceable cover, however most any covers will fit. This is also something I knew in advance, but it may be a con to some people.

The motherboard tray does not use traditional standoffs, but instead has raised "bumps" that act as the standoffs. Again, something else I also knew in advance, but it can scare some people. This mounting system works just fine, and it's safe. They do not come in contact with any part of the MB they are not supposed to. I am using an ATX motherboard in this build.

The CPU cooler access cutout on the MB tray does not line up well with the older board I am using in this specific build. The ASUS M4A77TD Pro and Noctua NH-C12P cooler. Not really a big deal, just pointing it out. In my situation, if I ever decide to replace the cooler, I will have to pull the board.

Other Thoughts: Overall, I am in the middle of the road with this case. I like how the build turned out, but it was a lot more work than I had initially thought, even though I did my research ahead of time.

The only reason I am docking an egg is becasue this case is really not for everyone, the cons can overshadow the pros. For more skilled builders, or those willing to take the time with it, it's a pretty nice case, looks nice, and works well. For everyone else, it could easily turn out to be a very frustrating experience.

Would I recommend this case to your average Joe looking to do a build, probably not.

Would I recommend it to an experience builder, or to a customer that I was doing a build for? Sure. Like I said, it does work, and it looks nice when you're all done.

This is what I have crammed into the case.

ASUS M4A77TD Pro
8GB DDR3 1600
AMD Phenom II X6 1090T @ 3.8GHz
Noctua NH-C12P
XFX Radeon 7970 Black Edition w/Gelid Vision-A
Cougar PowerX 700W PSU
3x 120mm case fans.
Side panel Cougar CFD120 Red LED.
Fan controller in the top 5 1/4 bay.
2x HDD's

4 out of 5 eggsWell rounded!

Pros: This case is really nice, the orange bits make it stand out. An all black interior is awesome, who wants a matte grey finish? Plenty of cooling options, along with dust filters!

Cons: The front panel connects to the case via 6 prongs, mine arrived with the two middle prongs snapped. This does not affect the case any, just is annoying. The front panel is not flush with the top of the case, has a little lip.

1 out of 5 eggsHorrible

Pros: It's orange inside.

Cons: The case didn't come with enough standoffs for the motherboard, not that it even mattered because if I had used them the motherboard wouldn't have even reached the I/O shield.

The expansion slot brackets on the back of the case were too far away from the expansion slots on the motherboard so I couldn't even put my graphics card into the case.

The top bracket on the back of the case isn't even there.

I couldn't fit my motherboard into the case without removing the fan that came with it.

The hard drive mounting system is terrible. It comes with 2.5" mounts which is actually a good thing, but you have to screw the drives in which isn't. Also the 3.5" mount is stupid because you have to mount the drive backwards to even make it fit.

Other Thoughts: I seem to be the only one having problems with this case so take this review with a grain of salt.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent case for the money

Pros: I have used a lot of cases over the past 22 years of building PCs. I had the need to find and use a inexpensive yet quality case and this one seemed to fit the bill. I had no trouble using this case for a friend's build. The major pros are the extremely easy to work with tool-less hard disk caddies (simply pull it apart to allow insertion of the drive and then slide it back together to lock the drive in), the tool-less ODD brackets, a LOT of ventilation, two removable dust filters (for the front of the case and the bottom PSU fan), solid construction once the system is put together, and the degree of cable management such as a channel, cable holes for the motherboard, and space behind the motherboard at this price point. There is a USB 3.0 port on the front, in addition to a legacy USB 2.0 port. A few black cable ties are included, but not enough to complete a build. I might just be using too many ties...

Finally, this case is supplied with plenty of screws.

A very nice touch is they did include exactly one reusable PCI slot cover. The others are all break-away (and throw away) types, but at least Cougar had the foresight to include one! Other cases at this price point don't include any reusable ones.

Cons: The two LED lights are bright, and the same color. I would have made the HDD LED red.

Other Thoughts: I added a Cooler Master Sickle Flow 2000 RPM silent fan up front to increase air flow and to make this a positive pressure case. If you have fan filters, then this is the way to go since there is more air going in then out and this minimizes dust build-up.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome!

Pros: Cable management and case layout is awesome. I got this unit for a budget build for myself, I personally love the hard drive bays which were a snap, this item is by far the best deal I've ever received from Newegg, and Ive gotten some great deals here. I will consider Cougar in the future after this one.

Cons: I can't think of any cons, I got this with a 15% off coupon which equaled $38 shipped to my door. The cables for the case connections are the best I've seen, came with a few zip-ties to clean everything up when I was done.... just awesome.

Other Thoughts: I think most would be pleasantly surprised with the overall quality on a budget case like this, I've paid a lot more for lesser quality cases.... never again, this item is the first time I've heard the name Cougar, it is a name I will remember.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Case

Pros: Really good case for the price.
-Good airflow
-Solid construction
-Fan filters
-Holes for cable management
-Front USB 3.0

Cons: Stock fan is flimsy and one of them was DOA.

Other Thoughts: Bought 2 of these cases for 2 identical builds. Really good cases for the price, recommend for budget builds with a unique color scheme.

4 out of 5 eggsBest looking case I could find.

Pros: I find that most computer cases are ugly as hell, but this case actually looks decent. I liked the orange on this inside also. The case has more than enough room to work in and plenty of mounts for whatever you can throw in it.

Cons: The window on the side looks mostly at the trays and not the motherboard area, but it doesn't bother me, as I don't plan on showing this thing off to anyone. Also, the access to the back of the motherboard for your aftermarket cpu cooler is off set and covers two of the screw holes.

Other Thoughts: Great case for the price! Will buy from cougar again.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent budget case.

Pros: Clean construction. The side panel looks great. Room for 5 fans to keep things nice and breezy.

Cons: A bit flimsy. It flexes when I move it. The "easy" hard drive mounting solution needs to be rethought out. The plastic mounting sleeves had to be altered with pliers to accept my drives. And once they're installed you'll need pry them out with screw drivers if you want to remove one for any reason. At least it's secure. You'll need to use force to cleave out the 5.25 in bays if you want a DVD drive. This was my first bottom mounted PSU case. And probably my last. The bottom PSU vent doesn't seem big enough for any PSU.

4 out of 5 eggsGood budget case

Pros: -Looks very nice. Clean, sharp lines.
-USB 3.0
-Dust filters for PSU and front fans
-Is lightweight, uses thin metal, but surprisingly doesn't feel flimsy
-Fan is quiet
-Can, barely, fit 120MM heatsinks like the Gaia and Hyper 212

Cons: -CPU cutout could be shifted an inch for 1155 motherboards. Would take some wiggling if trying to change or install a backplate for a heatsink if motherboard is already mounted.

-Not much room for cable management. Only expect to route data cables. Power cables won't be easily managed.

-Tool less hard drive caddies are flimsy plastic. 3.5" drives can only be mounted in one direction. Really not a fan of the tool less hard drive design.

-Case will get cramped if installing an aftermarket heatsink and a mid range or higher video card. There's no room at the top of the case; could use an extra inch of space.

-No fan mounts for the top.

-Only 120mm fans supported; no mounting holes for 80mm fans.

-Power/HDD LEDs are obnoxiously bright.

Other Thoughts: Good case if you can snag it on sale. Works well for one time budget or midrange builds. Is not the case you want to get if you're going to be opening it up or swapping components often.
