ELYSIUM

ELYSIUM – Domicile of the blessed in the ROMAN EMPIRE, surrounded by its own residential stars and sun – This high end gaming tower is built to be the Ultimate Super Tower.

Standing at a height of 618 millimeters and 230 millimeters wide, Elysium casts a shadow of elimination miniaturizing anything in its path. Elysium is defiantly a dream come true for PC modifiers, gamers, and the general public.

Due to the extreme size of the Elysium our engineers needed to accomplish a way to stabilize the structure, Xigmatek designers discovered the concept of reinforcing the panels making them over 30% thicker than the average panel’s you would find on the market, included are the option of clear side panels so that enthusiasts can exhibit their exquisite creations.

The Elysium was envisioned with the concept of freedom.

We wanted our users to have the freedom to think outside the box, exploring endless opportunities.

To make that happen our designers had to think big. Inside the Elysium we decided to equip twelve 5.25” drive bays with our innovative screwless ODD holders and two HDD cages which are preinstalled.

One of the exceptional options for the Elysium is the top console; you have the choice of installing three fans or two radiators equipped with 7 rubber radiator pipe holes giving you total control in customization and cleanness.

With such an innovative Super Tower, we needed to provide great power, so we decided to add the option of two PSU’s intended for users that wanted to optimize even further by installing two SLI’s.

Opportunities are endless with Elysium, our engineers envisioned to allow our users the freedom to choose their most desirable motherboard - Our Super Tower makes HPTX, XL-ATX look diminutive.

A cut out interior CPU panel allows easy access to the back of the motherboard with included anti- cable technology which hides all unnecessary wires.

The sky is the limit - With our innovative USB 3.0, power button, and Hot-Swap HDD docking on the top panel, inefficiency will be minimized giving you the freedom to control everything with just a simple hand movement.

At Xigmatek we are renowned for our innovative cooling systems, after conducting numerous experiments on heat control we came up with the concept of adding a base, top and front detachable dust-proof mesh technology which is designed to conduct perfect airflow circulation from all sectors ultimately creating impeccable performance. The Elysium supports an astronomical 7 fans including 4 preinstalled LED fans ready to go:

2 x 120mm LED fans at front (4-IN-3 HDD cage x 2)
1 x 140mm LED fan at rear
1 x 200mm LED fan at side panel

The anti-vibration rubber technology at the base not only creates a prestige look but most importantly delivers rapid airflow through the base like an exhaust forcing away any heat accumulated within therefore eliminating heat congestion.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome case!

Pros: I got this on sale last week-It was $150 with free shipping so that was an amazing deal. It is huge, I am coming from an NZXT swiftech 810 and this is substantially larger. It is pure metal with only a little plastic. I was considering the corsair 900d but that case is nearly $400. I believe if you can adjust for the few things that arent as perfect as a $400 case you will be very pleased. You can put a 480 rad on the bottom if you remove the hardrive cage, or move it up. It have 10 bays so that is awesome. It fits a 360/420 on top and a 240/360 on the bottom. You can put a 360 rad where the cage support is too

Cons: The wires are all colored, not sleeved or pure black. a little paint would fix that. I find that the gromet holes are placed in weird spots compared to the nzxt 810. I find it showing more wires, but not a whole lot, just a little.

Other Thoughts: Initially, having the window fan does block the view, but the caase looks amazing with it. THe fans are really quiet and the white leds actually look good. I think that it comes down to do a few things yourself to make it perfect, a little modding and for $150 i dont know how this didn't sell out. I am very glad I bought it.

4 out of 5 eggsIf you want a server without the server chassis, this will work with some modification

Pros: Massive motherboard tray. I built a 4P Intel server for Folding@home and didn't want to buy a server chassis to house it, mainly because of the noise. The motherboard I used was a SuperMicro X9QRi-F+, which measures 16.8" x 16.4". Needless to say, this case didn't have the matching standoff holes for the proprietary form factor that uses, but I was able to do a decent job of drilling my own. I'm certainly not deducting for that, as it doesn't claim to support it. With the mobo mounted about as close to the front of the case as possible (my choice, didn't think I'd be able to line anything up with the back anyway), there was somewhere between a quarter and a half an inch of space between the back of the mobo and the rear of the case.

Can fit two 200mm fans on either the top or bottom depending on where the PSU is located.

I like the little fan header mounts. I could only fit one in there, but it was handy for some of the fans.

Price is good considering how big it is.

Cons: As many have mentioned, the HDD cages. I don't know why they couldn't do a side-mount setup like so many others, nor why they couldn't go with tool-less rails. My situation is out of the norm, but I cannot remove either of the HDD cages with the motherboard in there if I'm trying to get them out the normal way by pulling them towards the back of the case. The bottom one almost makes it out, and probably could be removed with a more normal-size motherboard, but I'm somewhat unsure if the top one could be removed with normal components in there. I didn't try to remove either cage from the front, but apparently that's also a pain. It's rather unfortunate that the manual shows HDD mounting after it tells you to install the motherboard, as it's much easier to remove and re-insert the cages when there's nothing else in the case.

No top/bottom fans included. I get that this is more aimed at the watercooling crowd, so they're probably using all that space for radiators, but the HAF 932 that my desktop is housed in has more cooling by default. Of course, it also costs more, so the low price I mentioned probably has something to do with that.

I installed Cooler Master MegaFlow 200s in the top and bottom (2 top, 1 bottom, PSU on the bottom). The bottom one, in push orientation, cannot spin if the bottom dust filter is in place; a couple of the little tabs of filter that hold it in place stick up into the fan. Seems like a bit of an engineering oversight.

Other Thoughts: All the water pipe/cable management holes made it impossible to drill all 13 new standoff holes for the motherboard. 2 of the standoff spots will be over water pipe holes no matter where I position the mobo. They're probably rather useful with a normal setup, though.

I really only deducted the egg for the terrible hard drive cages. The $50 Rosewill Challenger that my previous dedicated folding rig was housed in has much better HDD management.

The inability to remove the cages means I can't clip the LED wires on the front fans. I really dislike fan LEDs and normally make sure they're off.

It's heavy.

With the 2 front fans, one bottom fan, and one side fan pushing; two top fans and one rear fan pulling; and SNK-P0050AP4's on the CPUs, my temps are around 60C while folding with the E5-4650's I have set to constantly turbo boost.

5 out of 5 eggsLarge

Pros: Large & sturdy. Lots of space. Lots of possibilities and options for mounting components. Could not ask for a better case of this size for this amount of money; great value.

Cons: The side panels can be a pain to get back on. The slider on the top (that covers ports) can get temporarily stuck if you don't move it evenly from both sides.

Other Thoughts: Newegg shipped the case in it's retail packaging, but it arrived without any damages.

I'm a big fan of having all 5.25" bays in the front, my previous case was also like this.

I personally would have liked the case to be even taller than it already is.

5 out of 5 eggsBehemoth - in size; Cunning in design.

Pros: >Size - provides great ideas for positioning your fans to customize that much needed air flow. If you want it to go over the CPU/RAM and the up, go for it. If you want to ALSO make it go over the dual GPUs, and then out the back, go for it. For kicks, you probably could fit a small dog inside the case, and still close it. Maybe three chiuahauas. It is a very sturdy, solid construction, so they cannot get out.

>Cooling: It can take so many fans. There are two chips on the sides of the case. These chips are LOADED with 3/4 pin connectors. Even if you had a super custom welded fan holder, and you somehow mounted it inside the case, you would have no problem finding a chassis fan connection.

>Radiator Cooling: Although I do not have any, it can take top mounted radiators. and it has all the grommets in the back to liquid cool the machine.

>Cable Management: I am very primitive when it comes routing cables. But with the Elysium, it made even my machine seem clean.

>Huge MB capacity. If you have a MB, it will more than likely take it.

>POWER REDUNDANCY: This case gives you the ability to house a bottom PSU AND a top PSU. My rig now pulls 1600 Watts!!!

>It has plenty of front ports and even comes with a toaster for both SSD & HDD drives.

>HDD drive bays have these rubber bushings that go around the screws that are used to attach HDD. These are genius for vibration dampening, as my sub-woofer is under my desk.

>How many drive bays do you need? I didn't use them all, will you?

>Cleaning: both sides pull off, and there are removable screens...making blowing it out an easy peasy lemon squezzy deal.

Cons: The front case cover is incredibly hard to pry off.

Changing HDDs will be hard; the holders are BURIED. So, just make sure you just buy quality products that won't die in a month or two and you will be fine.

The side panels are hard to get back on, only because the case is so dang huge!

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this case to those with RAID Arrays, big MB buyers, liquid and radiator wise consumers, and for those who are worried about thermal control and need lots of fans and cable routes.

The Toaster WILL come in handy if you have a drive that you want to scan for some buddies, as it is Plug and Play.

If you choose the dual PSUs like myself, make sure you get the main power splitter!!!

5 out of 5 eggsBeast !

Pros: Everything you need , space wire routing , duel psu mounting which i use , plenty of room for a powercolor 7990 so i dont see what everyone is complaining about , went together with ultimate ease even when installing after market xigmatech fans (Purple) im very impressed

Cons: Not just with xig but with all super tower case mfg`s , felt like it should have came with an add 2 psu adapter , because some one will use the cut and splice method and cook their system . Didnt mind but also didnt like having to remove cross bars to install optical drives and hard drives , it would have been nice had they spaced them differently

3 out of 5 eggsXigmatek nearly got it right.

Pros: The case dimensions didn't shrink in shipment. ;) Seriously, this is a BIG case. Just what I wanted in that regard. All black interior + white LED's are more attractive than I had anticipated. The fans are nice and quiet

Cons: Biggest complaint should have been a "no-brain-er" for Xigmatek. The cheap and "asking for trouble" plastic rivets used to secure the side panel window, were not even installed properly, (six fell out and were found in the bottom of the box) Unfortunately, all the missing rivets were on the same side causing the window to flop and flex during shipment. As a consequence, the window cracked in two places. One cracked piece came loose and was lost, but luckily not visible from outside the case. The other crack IS visible and unattractive. I would appreciate a replacement window being shipped to me by Xigmatek. They caused the problem, not Newegg or the shipper. I don't want to wait for weeks to get a replacement case and pay more to get it shipped, wasting my valuable time and money. Do the right thing Xigmatek. It will cost you very little, and earn you 5 eggs instead of 3. I am a first time Xigmatek patron.... need I say more?

Other Thoughts: Not that I didn't know before buying, but I should have thought a modern side panel latch system would have been commensurate with this case's price. The 1980's style "push-in-and-slide-forward" method of closing the case is not in keeping with the overall excellence of the it's design. It is a genuine pain to get these side panels back on. Being as large as they are, they flex a lot and you nearly have to have 3 hands to get it all lined up right. As is, it requires a healthy dose of patience to "git-er-done". I'm sure most people would pay a few extra dollars to have it the "proper" way.

Thanks for reading.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: There's a lot of room to work in this case and it ends up looking pretty sleek once closed up without being over-the-top (other than just in sheer size). The front LEDs are pretty discrete, but a nice touch. The 5.25 drives snap into place with ease.

There's plenty of clearance at the top to have both a top and rear radiator.

Cons: The rubber grommets aren't the greatest and don't always go back into shape. I would like to have had more resistance on them. The bottom-most slots for PSU cables could've been larger to accommodate all the cables coming out, as right now it's really jammed tight since I had to use almost every single strand of my modular PSU. Also, the slots right above the motherboard could've been a few millimeters taller to let 8-pin power connectors come through (you can fit a 2x4 if you detach each half and thread them through separately, but not an 8)

The 3.5" bays are really obnoxious to use. You have to completely remove the 4-drive rack to add drives, which involves taking off the front of the case, both sides of the case, detaching all the tool-less things, unplugging the front fans (which are affixed to these racks), and then unplugging any other drives currently in the rack. Then, installing a drive into the top or bottom drive on the rack is a real pain because you have to thread the screw into place under the extended piece of metal (used to hold the rack itself in place). I ended up using tweezers to hold the screw upright and drop it into place.

Half of the spot where a bottom-mounted PSU sits is obstructed by the floor, meaning there's no opening to pull air through for 1/3 to 1/2 of the PSU. I ended up having mine intake from inside the case since I am water cooling the CPU/GPU and have low ambient temps.

Other Thoughts: I had to remove the rear fan for a radiator and the side fan because my video card was too large and had hoses coming off the top that blocked its use.

On the one hand, I appreciate the fact that the 140 fan holes are discrete enough that they don't stand out like a sore thumb when using 120's, but it also makes it a pain to figure out which slots are for which size fans.

Make sure you keep track of your case-provided PSU screws. The screws included with the PSU itself will not be long enough because of the foam padding.

4 out of 5 eggsHuge

Pros: I purchased this with the intention of putting a liquid cooling system in. this case is huge and has more than enough room for a massive loop. Also, replace the white lighting with red lighting and it looks amazing!

Cons: I'm only knocking one star off for this, but when i went to put my 3 140mm fan radiator in the top, it fit, with the exception of one little plastic tab that holds the screen on top on. I was forced to remove this (not really a big deal, the screen dosent go anywhere as it is)
