5 out of 5 eggsHappy with this case

This review is from: Phanteks Phanteks Enthoo Series Primo Aluminum PH-ES813P_BL Black w/ Blue LED Aluminum faceplates / Steel chassis ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: This case has plenty of room which makes/made installation a lot easier than other cases would have allowed. Also the case size allows better air flow within the case (especially if you remove the drive bays). For the most parts were easy to remove from the case and cable management is quite easy. Additional fan installation was easy for the most part besides putting a Second fan on the back of the case

Cons: The SSD brackets have a hard time holding the SSDs in place and the angel can be awkward when installing the cables to the SSDs

Other Thoughts: The price was worth it as this case allows key components to dissipate heat a lot easier (with the aid of a fan cooling system)

5 out of 5 eggsCard Lengths

This review is from: Phanteks Phanteks Enthoo Series Primo Aluminum PH-ES813P_BL Black w/ Blue LED Aluminum faceplates / Steel chassis ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: Easily fit twin 780s and internal tube reservoir, 15 Phanteks F140SP fans running off three Phanteks hubs.....280 + 420 rads

Cons: I wish I had waited for the white one.

Version 2's door should have options to:

-reverse hinges

-provide several inserts a) clear for digital displays b) vented c) solid

Other Thoughts: Just a note for James who had trouble fitting cards. Suggest visiting the Enthoo Owners club thread on overclock dot net as loads of folks have high end GFX cards and cylinder res. I have a 250mm one myself with twin 780s

I have done SLI builds with with twin 780 Ti's and twin 970s. Note that on many cases the card dimension is shorter than the cooler dimension.... and once you take off the cooler and put on the water block it fits just fine.

If you go to the aforementioned thread and look at Post # 1000 you can download a CAD drawing which shows all relevant dimensions.

5 out of 5 eggsPhanteks Enthoo Primo simply packs a punch - loads of features and room for activities

This review is from: Phanteks Phanteks Enthoo Series Primo Aluminum PH-ES813P_BL Black w/ Blue LED Aluminum faceplates / Steel chassis ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: Have owned this thing for over a year now and am a very happy owner. Right off the bat I will say that I have not built a full custom water loop in this thing which is the real bread and butter of this case, however, I do have plans to do so with the next generation of Intel and Nvidia GPUs. I have equipped this thing with two beefy GPUs (GTX 980), 11 fans in total (7 Corsair AF 140 LED, 2x Noctua NF-A14, 2X Noctua Redux P14s, all 140 mm) and installed my own custom LED into the rig and both at idle and ambient emps I can barely hear the thing sitting right next to it while of course the temps on my CPU and GPU and VRMs have all remained low. There is simply so much ROOM for activity in this case that you cannot go wrong no matter what you throw in here.

Cons: I will say there are a couple of things this case can improve on, one being the reservoir bracket mount. It simply cannot accommodate any mainstream GPU and is something I recommend they consider revising in their next release of the Enthoo Primo.

Other Thoughts: I plan on putting 2x 480 mm rads and an additional 240 mm rad in the front intake. There will still be room leftover after going push pull on the 480s. I cannot wait to start customizing this thing even further.

4 out of 5 eggsEnthoo Primo

This review is from: Phanteks Phanteks Enthoo Series Primo Aluminum PH-ES813P_BL Black w/ Blue LED Aluminum faceplates / Steel chassis ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: Not a bad case. It is a well thought out design with every feature an enthusiast would want. Filters on all intakes will keep the case clean. Useful cable management for an exceptionally clean build. There is an undocumented option to stack two 25mm depth fans at the top of the case (either 120mm or 140mm versions) of which I took advantage when installing the Swiftech H220x. There is still room for three other rads. I was able - after removing the mid-case reservoir mount and with a slight mod - to install 2 180mm fans that blow air across the entire length of the motherboard, RAM, M.2 drive, graphics cards and PCIe SSD. This mod did not obstruct installation of the Swiftech unit which is 257mm long. All-in-all this a case that demands serious attention and if you select it spend some time planning how you want your build to look. There is flexibility for every conceivable pump, fan, rad and reservoir system you can dream up. If you're into serious case modding you can't go wrong with the Primo.

Cons: I have to agree that the door would be more useful with a right-side hinge if not a dual mount option. Although most panels are steel - which I prefer to aluminum - the case is of stamped construction, leading to what some would say are flimsy side panels. This seems to the bane of the newer crop of cases but it is not as bad as some - the Corsair 900 being a woeful example. Silverstone - albeit aluminum - in my mind sets the benchmark for quality case construction.

Other Thoughts: Some have complained about the "stock" location for a reservoir. Not even considering an AIO, a discrete reservoir can be installed in at least four locations in this case.

4 out of 5 eggsWell-built case with lots of features

This review is from: Phanteks Phanteks Enthoo Series Primo Aluminum PH-ES813P_BL Black w/ Blue LED Aluminum faceplates / Steel chassis ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: This is a well-built case with a ton of features. The metal bits are a heavy gauge steel, all edges are either rolled or cleaned-up: don't worry about slicing open your fingers working inside this case. I like that the hard drive trays don't require screws, yet hold things firmly in place. Plenty of cable pass-throughs and velco-like tiedowns keep the cable mess away from the mother board, leaving maximum airflow for cooling. I like the air filters, both top, bottom and front.

Cons: This case is huge. Read the dimensions carefully. I'm guessing it's intended to be an under-desk case, and my desk wasn't quite tall enough.

Also, I've not been able to get the case fans to actually turn on (but the system seems to be plenty cool at the moment without them). The manual is a bit unclear with regard to how the separate fan controller is supposed to be plugged in. An addendum says to plug it's 4 pin plug in in place of the CPU fan, yet it only provides a 3-pin plug for you to then plug your CPU fan into it? I used one of the system fan sockets instead, but nothing seems to be happening so far. Not sure what's up, but as I said, the case temp is OK, so I'm not too worried about it right now.

Other Thoughts: Make sure you're working in a VERY well lit area when assembling your system. The all-black interior seems to swallow up any available light, and I found myself frequently reaching for a flash light just to see what I was doing.

2 out of 5 eggsNot the best for water cooling

This review is from: Phanteks Phanteks Enthoo Series Primo Aluminum PH-ES813P_BL Black w/ Blue LED Aluminum faceplates / Steel chassis ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: Great construction, tons of extras from a well designed nuts and bolts tray to fan cable extentions. Everything about this case is well built, solid and satisfying. There is plenty of room for multiple fan/res combinations and it's pretty easy to get this thing disassembled for access to most any area for your custom work. I really love that about this case.

Cons: What a heart break to make this purchase based on a lot of super positive reviews only to find this case a total bummer for water cooling. Ok so maybe not "total".....if you planed on a bay res then your golden if you planned for a "total custom show me off' case build with a cylinder type res ....... just forget it.

Admittedly I didn't do my homework on this. I listened to my "go to trusted" reviewers online and they all let me down. The biggest thing is that you're not going to be able to use the latest GeForce or AMD graphics cards in this unit and a cylinder type res.

For the overall size of this case, the relative size of the main area, you know, where the MB goes, is not really much more than a smaller mid sized case. The trick, too. is that Phanteks fools you by installing a plate and support system for hanging a cylinder type res.....but they had to know it wouldn't work with any but the least capable graphics cards!! That's what gets me the most about this whole thing.......it's almost like they just flat out lied to us and are laughing all the way to the bank. So stay away from this unit if your plans are for a show case and the very best in graphics cards go elsewhere for your case needs.

Other Thoughts: More pain: The front door panel is not reversible and if you planned to use a fan controller, say like the one I use, the Lamptron FC8, to control 14ea 140MM fans,(gotta be the finest fan controller in the world), it's not going to fit either. Oh the height/width is standard but the depth....not happening. If you mount the controller normally, the control knobs are to long and the door wont close. Can you imagine!?! How could you design a case with so called water cooling specific features and not consider all aspects of the hobby? Again, my fault for the purchase but if I could reach Linus or that British guy....I'd kick their butts for the lousy, errr well, incomplete reviews. There's so much to love about this case and there are the fatal bombs that will kill your water cooling dreams that IMO you should pass on this one.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Case

This review is from: Phanteks Phanteks Enthoo Series Primo Aluminum PH-ES813P_BL Black w/ Blue LED Aluminum faceplates / Steel chassis ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: Large - I wanted a big case with room for cable management, radiators, fans, reservoirs, etc. This case has it in spades.

Customizable - Everything is held together with screws and can be removed. Multiple mounting points for reservoirs, pumps, SSDs, fans, etc. The options are pretty incredible.

Layout - I had to do zero cable management. The only cables you can visibly see over my motherboard are the graphics card cables, and that is only because the sockets are at the top of the cards. This case does an incredible job of hiding wires. I also have two GTX 680s in SLI and the included reservoir bracket fits them in just fine.

Style - Without a doubt it is one sleek and stylish case. The blue light strip down the side is very elegant. I only wish it could change colors like the Luxe.

Features - There are filters everywhere. Everything that could be considered inconvenient in the case (mounting fans on the bottom of the case) is accounted for (bottom fans are on a bracket which lifts out making them easy to access). The side windows are tinted/smoked which doesn't really show in the pictures.

Cons: I took an egg due to its weight. That might seem dumb, but combine that with a lack of handholds and the sheer size of the case and you have a giant heavy slab which is difficult to move. This is a real problem when you have a box full of liquid next to electrical components (water cooling anyone?).

If you don't plan on moving your case, than this is not an issue. It's just a train of thought for anyone considering it.

Other Thoughts: I was really on the fence between the Primo and the Luxe as i'm sure many other people are. This case is good for users that intend on going big with their watercooling loop. Do NOT buy this if you don't intend to watercool, go with the Luxe.

It has two y-splitters for the PWN hub that are already used leaving you with four open spots. If you have more than four additional fans you'll need more y-splits for the PWM hub.

4 out of 5 eggsReally big, Really neat.

This review is from: Phanteks Phanteks Enthoo Series Primo Aluminum PH-ES813P_BL Black w/ Blue LED Aluminum faceplates / Steel chassis ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: Elegant, Roomy. Beautiful just what I wanted but without the Lian-Li price and easily breakable construction.
COLD, These fans running at a constant of 100% shoots some cold air out. Still going the water cooling route later on though!
The door is very strong for a magnet.
The doors come off very easy.

Cons: Huge! This this is absolutely massive. The reservoir guard was in the way of installing the motherboard. The EVGA Platinum 1000W PSU does fit but it seems the back panel needs to be severely held down to get the thumbscrew back on. My case came with a front face rivet broken but didn't make any effects as I wasn't on planning to edit this or take it off for installation.
The fans are somewhat loud.
The cables included are in the way of everything. Cable management is a pain with so many front port/led cable/power port options.
Fingerprints/hand oil is always on the case expect to clean this bad boy after every time you use it!
Be weary of shipping don't expect this to come perfectly from the factory luckily I got only a small piece of plastic broken that isn't noticeable and isn't worthy in my opinion for an RMA.
Doesnt look like I can have sli with the reservoir tray :/
5.25" bays seem cheap.
Heavy, and is going to be a struggle to move back and forth to my houses every few weeks.

The fans are not as loud as a bathroom fan, but late at night it is noticeable. During the daytime its not that bad. I plan on trying a PWM splitter instead of their 4pin to 3pin molex splitter.

Make sure you have a very bright room and plenty of space to move around like a big table. Very hard to see inside otherwise.

Plan your cable management thoroughly!

Other Thoughts: The USB Dust caps on the top should be all one piece that can be lifted while in use instead of singular pieces. The reservoir panel should protrude out more to make the motherboard power and some connections easier, and the base without the shield should be more indented for sli configurations.

5 out of 5 eggsVery nice case

This review is from: Phanteks Phanteks Enthoo Series Primo Aluminum PH-ES813P_BL Black w/ Blue LED Aluminum faceplates / Steel chassis ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: lots of radiator mounting options
rear mount PSU
great aesthetics
5 140mm static pressure fans included
pwm fan controller for non pwm fans
smaller than the 900D

Cons: I would prefer a non-tinted window.
Case Led control is only blue color.
Pump mount bracket holes don't fit the Alphacool VPP655 pump

Other Thoughts: Building a full custom loop in this case was very enjoyable.
Plenty of room in front and back for tube routing, pump/radiator mounting and cable management.
I installed Alphacool XT45 420mm rad in the top, XT45 280mm in the bottom cooling an overclocked 4670k/780Ti.

The case is also good for air cooling, having plenty of intake and exhaust fan mounting options.
I really like the PSU rear mounting option. Cleans up the aesthetics of the build and allows more options for tubing and rad mounting.
All fan dust filters are easily accessible.

One possible problem in the future would be if GPUs get longer than a Titan or 780/Ti. As it is, there is about a 1mm clearance btwn my 780Ti and Bitspower 250ml res.

The fans included are great for air cooling or radiator cooling.
How awesome is it Phanteks includes 5 SP140s?
I bought 2 additional from Newegg. So I have 3 at the top, 2 at the bottom and 2 in front, all controlled with the pwm fan controller.

The fans idle at 530rpm and max out at 750rpm for very cool and quiet performance.
Max CPU T=65/66C, Max GPU T=45/46C

This is the first full tower case I've bought and I'm very pleased.
