4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This controller makes it fairly easy to control fans and monitor their speed all while looking sleek. The touchscreen itself works well and responds quickly. I also saw no real problems viewing this from any angle. The included sticker was a nice surprise.

Cons: I could do without the locking feature. It stays locked when not using. You have to unlock it every time you want to use it and it only stays unlocked for a limited time and can be a pain. Maybe there's some way to disable this but I haven't found it.

This controller also does not allow fan speeds to be lowered to my liking. For example, my 140mm fan (~1200 RPM) can only be lowered to 850-900 RPM on lowest setting. That makes this controller excellent for finetuning RPMs but perhaps not the best if you have a high, or even moderate, rpm fan and wish to make it completely silent. Sure, a cable that lowers the fan's speed could be used, but that kind of defeats the purpose of a fan controller.

I don't much care for the included temperature sensors. What would be more useful is if this controller could be connected to the motherboard, so that CPU / GPU temperatures could be displayed and used.

Other Thoughts: This is a fairly plain, but good-looking, fan controller. No flashing lights, etc. Some people will appreciate this. Personally, I at least wish you could change the screen colors.

4 out of 5 eggsIt Works

Pros: Plug and play. Fan speeds adjust with ease. Temp sensors. Touch screen

Cons: Only thing I can really think of is the screen is impossible to read if viewing from an angle.

5 out of 5 eggsReally Good Fan Controller

Pros: This fan controller looks very nice and has good viewing angles. The colors on it are a nice blue, the display is responsive and stays cool, the controls on it are very nice. This fan controller also manages to track the RPM's very accurately, I put a piece of paper in front of my fans to check how much intake they get and the RPM's increased a bit to that and decreased when the paper was moved away. The temperature sensors are very good but the tape that is given is horrible, overall a very good fan controller.

Cons: The only possible downside for this would be that there is a shiny bit on the inner lip which catches some glare, but no reason to knock an egg for that.

Other Thoughts: Sweg

4 out of 5 eggsCan control extra fans that a motherboard can't

Pros: Can control up to 6 fan circuits independently, manually or automatically. Has individual temp probes to inform controller of needed adjustments of fan speeds. Has temp reading of each probe available at the touch of a finger.

Cons: The tape that comes with the probes to attach them to the item you want to monitor for temperature does not work. It will hold for a while, but not long. Gelid needs to go to a different kind of tape. Luckily three of the four probes I am currently using were able to go into the heat sink on the power supply on the motherboard, the chipset heat sink and the fins on a GPU cooler. the 4th one is loose and merely measuring the air temp near the base of the CPU mount on the back side of the motherboard.

The first time I used this controller, I could not select fan #1 or #2. I plugged those two fans into #5 and #6 and all of the sudden I had access to #1 and #2. One other time 1 and 2 got locked out, but before I could do any testing, everything was back to normal and I haven't had any issues with this since. I will just have to keep and eye on it.

Gelid's fan speed curve is too aggressive in my opinion. Gelid might suggest I use fans that run at lower speeds to begin with, but I use only high quality fans that are known to be quiet and have a track record of durability. Top end fan speed is not at the top of my priority list.

The motherboard controls fans that are similar to those run by the Gelid controller. The motherboard fans run at a much slower speed at a given temp. I think Gelid needs to back off their fan speed curve, or update this controller so you can select the initial fan speed.

5 out of 5 eggsVery nice addition to an HTPC.

Pros: Nicely responsive display is clear even when viewed at an off angle; no ghosting, glare or fade in and out.

Provides realtime feedback and alarm safety on up to 6 component temps and fan speeds.

Includes sufficient wiring to work in almost any case, though I scrapped these and used custom length and sleeved wiring.

Annodized front faceplace resists fingerprints and blends very nicely with a Fractal R4 case.

Includes extra sensor, mounting tape, power supply cord and extensions for each fan power cord.

Cons: None yet.

Other Thoughts: If you are looking to use custom cables, be aware that the power supply cord for the unit is NOT a standard plug or crimp connectors. It is 3-pin, and larger than fan connectors.

If you need to replace this use a standard 6-pin plug, shave off the row of unused pin outs, and shorten the length by about 1/8 inch. In all, this took a few days of frustration ordering incorrect parts, and then about 15 minutes with a sanding block on a spare 6 pin connector -- not a real problem.

5 out of 5 eggsI bought a dud rewrite May 10, 2014

Pros: i'm rewriting my earlier review. "I bought a dud'. Upon examining everything several times, I used a volt meter to determine my mollex wires were faulty. Repaired the wiring and Wella! It works and works well.

Cons: The sensor tape doesn't stick very well.

Other Thoughts: I'm glad I took the time and checked the wiring. Looking at the wring, they looked great so I didn't suspect they would be faulty. Instead, I wasted time trying to track a hardware ghost.

1 out of 5 eggsI bought a dud

Pros: None.

Cons: Sensors were difficult to attach. I had to mash one between the die of the gpu and copper watercooler head. Attached another to the heatsink fins. Never worked. Rechecked everything. Spent a couple hours poking around at a blank LED screen and rechecking my set up.

Other Thoughts: The instructions, useless. Went online and to Youtube to look at a gal speak a foreign language as she presented the controller. From the tech websites and product site. I figured I a bought a dud.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Enough Fan Controller

Pros: Controls the speeds of up to six fans automatically or manually.
Easy to read touch display with 3 buttons on the left for power at the top, unlock, and brightness at the bottom. After 5 seconds the unlock button must be pressed to access any of the others. Powering off the display means you have to know where the power button is when it is dark. The display re-lights during each wake or boot.
Each fan can be toggled auto or manual, where only on manual can speed be adjusted from 1 bar to 10. No bar turns the fan off. Auto has no choice on temps for speed.
Pressing the temp display toggles Celsius or Fahrenheit.
The displayed fan speeds are accurate.

Cons: The 'instructions' are so bad that it would be easier if they were not even included. The Gelid website PDF manual download button is disabled. Gelid has a sense of humor.
As stated below, the included sticky for attaching the sensors is useless. No matter, all six sensors are on a ribbon which I duct taped to the top of the Noctua NH-D14 CPU heatsink (remove the plastic tube protectors. The 4 case fans are manually set to one bar, the two CPU fans are on auto.

Other Thoughts: Included in the package is a 2-sensor temp ribbon - I assume for those who have only two fans to control and don't need the main 6-ribbon. There are 6 fan extension cables which can all be tucked into the 5.25 bay if used. The 4 pin Molex power cable has loose pins which are difficult to plug into the PSU connector.
The panel face is tough and accurate. The bracket has threaded holes for the mounting screws.
How hard would it have been to allow us a minimum speed choice when set to auto? This should be simple programming. As it is, the Noctua fans are too fast no matter how cold the house is, with auto at 4 bars. This is the main flaw in the Gelid Speedtouch6.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great!

Pros: Touch screen with RPM read out. Comes with (6) thermalcouple wires + (2) extras if needed. Easy installation into the tower and connecting fans.

Cons: The tape to put the thermalcouples down suck. I used Ductape on the ones that I designated for "case temperature" and electrical tape for the ones that went on to my CPU and GPU. No I did not put them directly on the components but put them on cooling coils.

Other Thoughts: It took about 10 minutes to connect everything and put it in the case, it then took another 50 or so minutes to set up which fan goes to where and to install the thermalcouples. This is only because I didn't know where to put everything before hand so planning was included in the 50 minutes. All in all it was a good purchase.
