1 out of 5 eggsPretty but misleading...

Pros: Looks pretty, has USB 3.0 ports on the front.

Cons: If you're buying this as a card reader, be forewarned, this is not a USB 3.0 card reader! This is a pretty USB 2.0 card reader, with a pair of USB 3.0 ports tacked on. If you're a photographer that shoots a lot, you probably won't be happy with the USB 2.0 speeds. The manufacturer's photos show the big blue USB 3.0 motherboard header predominantly, and the USB 2.0 header is a blurry afterthought. Sadly, this product is a blurry afterthought if you want to use it for anything other than the askew USB 3.0 ports on the side.

Other Thoughts: I'm super sad that I bought this item, and that I'm not going to be able to use it in my case because it would be a complete waste of space and two motherboard headers. It's somewhat poorly constructed - even the manufacturer's photographs show the USB 3.0 ports are misaligned (mine are too - and others have mentioned this defect).

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, Valued NZXT Customer,

We do apologize for the inconvenience, at this time yes thought there are two usb 3.0 headers the card reader on the other hand is spec’d for a 2.0 bandwidth rate. For further information on the Aperture M, i have gone ahead and supplied you a link offering the specs for the product itself http://www.nzxt.com/product/detail/97-aperture-m-case-accessory.html . We do apologize again if you have any further questions or concerns feel free to contact our NZXT Support.

Regards,
NZXT Support.

1 out of 5 eggsUSB 2.0 on the Readers? Really?

Pros: Looks pretty, and the mesh front matches my case. The USB 3.0 ports would be a "perk" except for the fact that I'm already using all of my USB 3.0 headers on my motherboard. Uses a 5.25" slot that are generally only used for DVD/Blu-Ray, so most folks have a spare slot wasting space.

Cons: The card reader is exclusively USB 2.0...what? Oh, goodness, no. I bought this months ago, so I can't return it, otherwise I would. When you look at the back of the unit, there's this big thick USB 3.0 cable coming out of the two crooked USB 3.0 connectors. So although the star of the show is the card reader, it's only been designed to use USB 2.0. This is insane. I don't want to be a jerk, but if you've engineered a unit to have USB 3.0, you should (absolutely, positively) make the card reader USB 2.0. This thing is junk, which is now going to sit in a box in my basement until a friend needs a dedicated USB 2.0 card reader. Ick.

Other Thoughts: Honestly, I'm afraid to use this thing. It looks so pretty, but USB 2.0 card reader is dumb. I don't have any USB 3.0 headers left on my motherboard, and sure as heck wouldn't waste one with this device. I want this card reader to be awesome, but it's just dumb. Plain dumb. This is like putting a cheap engine in a race car shell. Avoid like the plague. (Unless you don't mind slow card transfer speeds - this unit may actually be faster than what you're used to, if you're used to pigeons telegraphing your images bit-by-bit in Morse code.)

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well, matches up with Cooler Master HAF case design

Pros: Despite negative reviews, the product works well for me. It matches the black mesh design of the Cooler Master HAF series of cases almost perfectly.

Cons: For me, there are no cons.

Other Thoughts: If you're doing a build in a HAF case, it's a nearly perfect match with the case design. Even if you aren't, it's a great addition that satisfies the need for front panel USB 3.0 and a card reader with one convenient component.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: Works! Internal usb header. Good looking.

Cons: a little pricey, and large, requiring 5.25" anterior slot which can be a valuable spot depending on your needs/equipment(i.e. DVD burner, hot swap drive bays).

Other Thoughts: the fascia is an exact match for my case making it look stock. Front usb3 plus card readers extremely useful and ergo dynamic, really updating the case.

1 out of 5 eggsCan't edit reviews : last update...

Pros: Mesh looks nice for my context, but now it's been unmounted and

Cons: Apart from the looks, everything is a con :
1) USB 2.0 for the car readers. Even though one can see the little USB 2.0 plug on one of the pictures, they don't mention this, and they can't expect that we "observe and scrutinize" the product ONLINE before buying, like if we were in a bricks-and-mortar store (!!)

2) The only thing which is USB 3.0 have its ports crooked and unusable, from factory it seems (I've read other people having the same issue at Amzon.ca with that same product)

Other Thoughts: After reading forums about this product, NZXT knows that it's flawed, but they're still trying to sell it (and merchants still keep it in their inventory for the sale). This is ROGUE business : "buy it and have the pleasure to trash it yourself"...

Some people wonder how we pollute the planet? Major actors are like this company building and selling broken stuff that they know you'll throw in the garbage : IMHO they should NOT be in business, it's criminal in terms of honesty (they robbed my money) and for the environment they're filling with their trashed stuff.

3 out of 5 eggsUpdate : deception

Pros: Update of my previous evaluations:
Excellent packaging from Newegg, as usual.
Same "pros" as my previous post, please read the cons

Cons: Indeed, the USB ports on the unit I've received are crooked, exactly as on the picture!... Other reviews said that theirs was "straight", well good for them : not mine. I can't even use the port on the right, else I fear I'd break it!

-1egg (it was already -1 on the other review (because of the card readers being on USB 2 which is not mentioned anywhere in their description) : total = -2 eggs

Other Thoughts: It looks fantastic in the build (Roswill R5 Gaming Case).

4 out of 5 eggsNice

Pros: Ordered and waiting for the week end to go by...
Nice aperture and black, exactly what I need for a R5 Rosewill

Cons: USB ports look flimsy; no USB adapter, read "Other thoughts"

Other Thoughts: Since my internal USB 3.0 19 pin port is already occupied by the chassis's front I/O ports, I'm looking for an adapter USB 3.0 19 pin male to USB type A male, which would allowme to plug it in a chassis back port to the motherboard.

3 out of 5 eggsWarning

Pros: Stylish, easy to install and can read anything

Cons: WARNING - the external USB jack is 3.0 but the card reader headers are only USB 2.0. Manufacturer customer support was prompt with their reply to my slow transfer report and admitted their advertising might not be perfectly clear.

1 out of 5 eggsSD port stopped working after a few months, still waiting for replacement

Pros: Looks good, convenient, fast

Cons: SD port stopped working after several months. Got an RMA number and shipped it back to NZXT. One month later, no replacement, no refund, no response. Horrible!!
