2 out of 5 eggsEhh

Pros: Beautiful lighting with a near infinite amount of colors to choose from.
Quite bright compared to the old single colored led lights.

Cons: How long have we have 3M sticky tape? A long time. Still this thing won't stick longer for a day or two then comes crashing down.

Other Thoughts: Cleaned the inside of my case. Let it dry. And 2 hours later, the led strip comes crashing down. Rewire it so that there was less pressure on the top strip and still wouldn't stay up. I find it extremely annoying as my old cold cathode never came down and was much much brighter. You don't understand though, this 3M sticking film is utterly terrible and idk why NZXT insists on using cheap mounting solutions. I had their old LED lighting system and even then, the tacky and lightweight holding clips would fall every day until I used tape to hold it up. So bottom line, the thing it's supposed to do most basically, is stay on the case...it doesn't do that. It doesn't do that at all. I put one in my computer case, nope fell off. Put one in my brother's computer, and the tape peeled off the strip then wouldn't stay on it. Then a day later, it fell off his case as well. It is without a doubt the single most disappointing piece of hardware I've ever bought for any computer and I have bought many. Stay away unless you mean to super glue it to your case. But I feel like that shouldn't be necessary.

4 out of 5 eggsOther options

Pros: NZXT products are awesome and thats a fact.

Cons: For about half the price I went and bought a 150 roll of 5050 RGB leds and controller which comes with a IR remote. Unlimited colors and tons of fade/strobe/flash options. It does require soldering skills, heat shrinking, male molex housing, male molex pins and wiring. Simple if you have the equipment and are familiar with soldering/wiring. Theres just a lot more options and custom ability.

Other Thoughts: They did not make this two years ago. They had LED strips on 3bay which connected through a 4 wire to a very small led controller which was 12v powered (by barrel jack at controller and male molex psu) You also got a 48 key remote which was controlled by a IR sensor. Its cheaper to go this route and the possibilities are endless. It was and still is a DIY. Now I see products like this and exactly the way I made mine coming out on the market.

5 out of 5 eggsPretty Lights

Pros: Fully adjustable!
Different levels of brightness, and the brightest is pretty bright.
Red to Violet and anything in between!
You can also get white (turning all R,G,B, to max), though you need to fine-tune things a bit and have a good eye for the color.
Nice and long

Cons: Sticky tape cover was kind of hard to peel off. Some tabs would be nice.

Other Thoughts: Vibrant colors, great "modes" with flashing, varying brightness, and varying colors. Cannot think of anything missing from this controller.

Great product.

5 out of 5 eggsQuite nice, really

Pros: The lights look great. The different color modes are fun. I really like the slow fade; it's nice to watch the inside of the PC colored by different colors of light as it slowly moves from one hue to the next. The head unit feels relatively solid for the price point. Installation was a snap, with no rude surprises. I put this guy in a budget (~$50) gaming case.

Cons: The adhesive could be better, but there's something to be said for ease of removal, as well. For a super-solid setup, I'd use little plastic clips that attach to the case better than the light strip does. That said (only a month in), I haven't had any come unattached.

Other Thoughts: I was somewhat skeptical, but impressed. Figuring out how to change modes and what pushing vs. turning all the knobs went was a bit cumbersome (since the "manual" is kind of brief), but technically it is all in there. If you have a spare 5.25 bay, this is a fun and affordable mod to use it for.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic and easy case mod

Pros: This was an exceptionally easy install. The 6' strip of LEDs easily spans the entire perimeter of my (large) case. The front-panel controls work well.

Cons: It's easy to plug the power pins in backwards. Doesn't make anything explode, the lights just don't work right.

The operating instructions, to put it bluntly, stink like week-old fish.

The trick is:

The dials respectively change R, G, B when you TURN them. If you PUSH the dial, it changes to a different mode. Left is intensity. Center (hold) is power. Right is pulse, fade, blink.

Other Thoughts: Not really a pro or a con -- just remember, it takes up a 5 1/4" bay and the dials, while small, do stick out a tad.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Overall a good concept, easy to install, easy to use, but my product has some issues.

Cons: Prior to installation I had measured the amount needed for my case and cut the strip to fit. To install I started to remove the 3M covering from the back of the LED strip, when taking the covering off I realized that it was removing the adhesive with it, I was able to get it to stick back on to the strip itself and installed it in the case. Every so often the adhesive separates from the strip and it hangs down in the case. Upon powering up the unit, I noticed that three of the LED's do not have functioning red diodes. I have the color set to purple and the diodes that are missing red, only shine blue.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Valued NZXT Customer,

We do apologize for the inconvenience that is unfortunate to hear the adhesive to the back of the led strip should not come off so easily. Now if a great amount of force was given to take off the strip then that can cause a tear in the adhesive strip. Also all led lights should show all colors regardless of which mode is selected. It does seem there is a defect with the item itself if you would simply visit our website at www.nzxt.com/support and fill out a ticket, Also we would need an invoice on hand for future replacements. If you have any further questions or concerns feel free to contact our NZXT Support Team at 1-800-228-9395.

Regards,
NZXT Support

4 out of 5 eggsYou can't beat the price.

Pros: Just about any color you want.
Cheap!
Easy to install.

Cons: Doesn't stick well.
Some colors look bad.

Other Thoughts: Because it's an RGB controller, some colors like orange will have green lighting mixed in to make the color. Keep this in mind if you are wanting a color in the yellow or orange range. Otherwise it works as intended.

The backing doesn't stick very well. I've had to fix it several times. You're better off buying something to keep it on before installing it.

If it isn't plugged in perfectly, some of the colors might not work. A lot of people are returning these because they think it's broke, but it just takes some moving around. Sometimes you even have to plug in the other side of the light strip. Make sure you test it out before sticking it in the case.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product!

Pros: Not much to say. It is extremely easy to set up and apply. I had it up and going in 5 minutes. It does everything you expect it to do.

Cons: Be careful when installing to make sure that the connection is tight so that all three colors come through
