1 out of 5 eggsMediocre at best

This review is from: NZXT SEN-MIX2 Sentry Mix 2 Fan Controller

Pros: - Looks decent
- good cable length

Cons: - Mediocre fan control at best. This would be fine given the price except for
- There is absolutely no excuse for anything, in this day and age, to have 4 pin molex connectors for power.

Other Thoughts: Unit claims to be able to handle 30 watts per channel for a total of 180 watts. I would believe 30 watts total across all 6 channels. Just looking at the circuitry, there is ABSOLUTELY no way this thing can handle anything even remotely close to 180 watts.

5 out of 5 eggsPictures don't do it justice

This review is from: NZXT SEN-MIX2 Sentry Mix 2 Fan Controller

Pros: -Lights up in 5 colors
-Tactile controls instead of touchscreen
-Six channel
-Fan speeds from 40% to 100%
-Easy install
-Color choice is remembered

Cons: -NONE

Other Thoughts: This is a very good fan controller. It lights up, not too brightly, but enough to be aesthetically pleasing. It's also cheaper than most. The tactile response instead of the touch screen is actually very nice. It's a lot less likely to glitch and you can pretty easily tell what power your fans are at. I had to get a controller because my motherboard only supported 2 case fans and I wanted 4. I am more than satisfied with my purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsWhy can't all fan controllers be like this?

This review is from: NZXT SEN-MIX2 Sentry Mix 2 Fan Controller

Pros: - Clean aesthetic, blends in with just about any build
- Capable of running 180W worth of fans!
- LEDs can change color on the channel indicators, or be turned off
- Has a 100% start-up for a couple seconds to make sure those finicky fans spin up.

Cons: - No way to turn fans off completely

Other Thoughts: I was looking for a good-quality, simple to use fan controller, and this is the only option I came across that had support for more than just a few fans. If you don't need any fancy touchscreens or usb monitoring, then this is the fan controller for you! Stop looking around and just pick one of these up!

2 out of 5 eggsWorks fine, but flimsy sliders and customer service was awful

This review is from: NZXT SEN-MIX2 Sentry Mix 2 Fan Controller

Pros: Works ok
Not touchscreen
6 channels

Cons: Sliders feel a bit flimsy (molded plastic on metal tabs)
One slider broke after only 2 months or so when changing speed (did not change speed often, this was only the 2nd or 3rd time I adjusted it)
RMA process to get replacement has been a disaster, is taking over a month to close (see other for details)

Other Thoughts: The RMA problem started when I went to decrease my fan speed to reduce dust intake. Hadn't adjusted it since playing with it to find a good speed when I first got it. It had only been about 2 or 3 months, and one of the sliders broke off. From there I encountered numerous issues with the support/RMA process and customer support:
- Warranty page online says to submit support ticket, but support site is separate from NZXT main site and the NZXT RMA site. Accounts for each are also separate, and information is not shared. After submitting support ticket, I was told that I qualified for an RMA, and that I need to also submit an RMA ticket. Support ticket was closed. I found the RMA site, created a new account, and submitted an RMA ticket, reattaching all information. Despite what warranty page says, a support ticket appears to be unnecessary, as the RMA ticket and information must still be reviewed and approved before RMA can be processed.
- NZXT RMA process does not send replacement part first. You must send defective part back first, and then they send replacement. IF YOU NEED TO GET THE REPLACEMENT FIRST, YOU MUST SEND IN AN ADVANCE RMA FORM. This is never told to you or posted anywhere on NZXT's websites. I had to call into support after receiving shipping information/forms and ask about it. You will be charged for the new part, and then reimbursed when they receive the defective part back.
- After submitting advance RMA form, I never received any communication from NZXT. I had to request the tracking number for the new part. I was billed and the part apparently shipped without any emails or calls from NZXT, and the part was halfway to me (I gave them a week to send me any sort of notification before requesting a shipping date or tracking number).
- Avoid phone system if possible for RMA's. Number on RMA website goes to sister company, and RMA information is not shared between them. I had to be transferred to NZXT every time I called (I was transferred to joint reception and then had to request NZXT. Requesting RMA will send you back to sister company).
- RMA ticket still not closed after 1 month, I have been reimbursed for advance RMA, but status is listed as receiving complete (of defective part by them), and is currently awaiting inspection. They received it a week ago.

Overall, the RMA process wasn't especially slow (it could have been faster, but I wasn't waiting for weeks on end), but is extraordinarily frustrating with the lack of communication, confusing series of unconnected websites with little information, and awful RMA telephone line to get information from an actual person (once I was transferred correctly the person was some help though).

I would not recommend this product. It's functional, but there are comparable products by other manufacturers that are probably sturdier, and that have much better customer service.

2 out of 5 eggs2 Molex bullet connector fell out

This review is from: NZXT SEN-MIX2 Sentry Mix 2 Fan Controller

Pros: Sliders feel good.
Worked once.

Cons: One of the bullet connectors on the molex plug fell out while I was working on cable management. When I put the bullet connector back in the molex housing and tried to plug it back in, the bullet connector next to the originally broken one also popped out, rendering this device useless.

I didn't actually notice the issue until my computer stopped booting up. When investigating everything I noticed the bullet connector had popped out. After trying to fix it to no avail see previous comment, and my computer still not posting, I unplugged the 'PERIF' cable from my PSU and got a POST.

I guess this also fried the modular 'PERIF' cable on my psu. Really, really annoying, but atleast I have another.

5 out of 5 eggsGood fan controller

This review is from: NZXT SEN-MIX2 Sentry Mix 2 Fan Controller

Pros: Good fan controller, works with a wide variety of high-speed fans to pretty much silence them (Vantec Tornado 80mm, Fractal 140mm, and Delta 120mm server fans)

Cons: Be aware that this spins all fans to 100% for 10 seconds on power-on, meaning booting up your system can be quite loud. I fixed this with a simple custom DPDT switch install (switching the 5V/12V lines on the Molex connectors) so the system can be booted silently.

Other Thoughts: N/A
