5 out of 5 eggsServes my needs well and has potential.

Pros: The main things about the product that appeal to me are the fact that I can hide it behind the optical disk drive trays in the Corsair 350D, and, not have to play with any knobs or touchscreens. The brushed aluminum front of the 350D is totally ruined once you start putting 5.25" bays/devices in because to the left and the right of the bay is just plastic that isn't flush with the i/o and front aluminum plate that covers the fans. So, with this I can keep the aluminum drive plates in place and keep the nice, sleek brushed aluminum front.

The second thing is that since the cpu fan automatically ramps up from value to value with no interim that when I launch a game or anything cpu intensive that I can be sure the fans will ramp up to the speed i need them. and then vice versa; when I walk away or alt-f4 out of a game and leave and lock my pc I can be sure that they'll just go back down to 40%. As I said, no playing with knobs or touch screens.

Cons: Even those this product is compact it's really not THAT easily concealed or managed in a case like the Corsair 350D which already suffers from an easily suffocated cable management area behind the motherboard tray. Luckily I can just stuff it behind the optical drive bays as mentioned.

I do wish that the fan curve could be tweaked to something more akin like MSI Afterburner. It'll do for now.

Other Thoughts: I agree that the software is limiting what could be a great product. 5 watts per channel is sufficient for my build; the Aerocool Shark 120 and 140mm fans both top out at 5 watts for max speed and my cpu fans are plugged into the pwm headers so that's just what i need.

I don't see how this couldn't have enough power to push fans at 100%, however, keep in mind that the capability will depend on the fans you're running. If it doesn't then that's your own novice fault for not reading the specs on the fans you own before purchasing this. My Sharks all run at 100% for the reasons mentioned above.

I dont really have the option to use my mobo headers because I only have 2 free and they only output 5 watts per channel, so, if I use those i still need to come up with some kind of controller for the other 3 fans. I don't like having fans plugged into molex running at full power, besides, who does that anymore these days.

As for the software, I haven't had any issues with spiking CPU or RAM usage, or spiking GPU usage, everything works fine and it's a nice interface. I don't really like that I have to login or be logged in to use it but I can understand the direction they're trying to take the product.

As I'm typing this I become more and more pleased with the idea of having the back and forth automatic fan control between 40 and 100. 40 is quiet enough for my uses, and, it keeps my rig slightly lit up, and 100 is exactly what i want when im gaming. So, from my perspective, I don't really need anything else. I can also manually set the fan's to 40% and 100% when needed and have them stay there. So I really like that.

5 stars from me for my uses. It beats having to order one of Lamptron's overpriced fan controllers.

here's the bottom line: is it worth 30 bucks right now for most people? It'd probably be a hard sell and you should only buy it after you've really assessed your use case and figured out what's important to you.

2 out of 5 eggsNot ready for prime time

Pros: Works well as a power grid. Compact and easy to place and hide wires.

Cons: CAM software is glitchy as H@LL and they know it. If this was the late 90s or early 2000's, I could understand putting a product like this on the market. BUT NOT 2014! Read the forums. LOTS, AND LOTS of issues. Mine worked once, then blue screened my PC. When I rebooted, the usb port on it was dead. Won't even mention the hassle I had to go thru with Newegg for advanced replacement.

Other Thoughts: No individual fan control, all or none. Does not have enough watts to power all fans at 100%. If the software was working properly, and my usb port hadn't died, I would be a happy camper. But that is a lot of 'IF'S' and no right answers.

4 out of 5 eggsAnother great product from NZXT

Pros: Easy to install. Cam software is simple to use. Hides all fan wiring.

Cons: It appears fan speed is currently based only on cpu temps at this time. GPU based temps are in the works I understand.
Manual fan curve selection points can only be set 10°C apart- I feel it should be 5°C for finer adjustment.

Other Thoughts: When plugging fan connectors into the GRID+ you must be careful to not bend pins since you can't see how well the pins are lining up.

5 out of 5 eggsGREAT fan controller

Pros: - You can control all of your fans through the free CAM software.
- You can set up a rather detailed fan profile that allows for pinpoint control based on CPU temperature/fan speed.
- The CAM software is user-friendly and provides all the information you could reasonably need.
- Small and discrete; no need to have an ugly, flashy 5.25 bay fan controller.
- This hardware/software combo allows you to have greater control over more fans that most other products would allow (without the need for constant manual adjustments).
- Grid+ allows for the control of 4-pin fans with two included extension cables/adapters. No PWM function though, speed is controlled through voltage like the other fans.

Cons: There are a few things that some might consider to be negatives though:

- You can only set up one fan profile, which will control ALL of your connected fans. You can not have a different profile for each fan.
- When the CAM software is open, it DOES use up a bit of CPU power, but leaving the program open is not necessary for proper function. Set your fan profile, and close it (unless you want to make a change, or look at PC operations).
- I haven't yet figured out how to get the CAM software to NOT open on initial Startup. Your fan profile kicks in automatically when Windows starts, so it's unnecessary.

Other Thoughts: There is no other fan controller out there (that I know of) that offers the level of control through software, the ease of use of the software, and the discrete form factor of the hardware as the Grid+ from NZXT. Especially at this price.

It's the first NZXT item I've bought for a PC, and I'm quite impressed.

1 out of 5 eggsLOL Junk

Pros: None!

Cons: CAM software doesn't recognize correct CPU or GPU Temps. CAM software also adds additional stress to the CPU. Increased temps 15c at idle and 5c under load. Complete Junk! E-mailed NZXT and they say "post your problem to the forum" your problem is considered solved.

Other Thoughts: Thought NZXT was ok stuff for the cost but this is complete Junk! First time I've had to write a bad review on any PC equipment.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Mr. Dude,

Your issue with the Grid+ and CAM is not "considered solved" only by referring you to our forum. The forum was created so that users can post any bugs (and ideas!) that they encounter while using any of our items related to CAM. Our devs in the CAM feedback forum work directly on the CAM software and may be able to provide a fix immediately. In the case that they are not able to, you may also be referred to our RMA department regarding your Grid+, among other further suggestions. We have just encountered an issue today with another customer's Grid+ and it was solved in this way.

Please understand that referring you to the forum is not the end all solution. We do our best to help you troubleshoot and resolve the issue completely, so that you would be able to properly use your items in your build. Please contact our Support team via Live Chat for further assistance at if you have already posted your issue on the camfeedback forum and have not been able to solve your issue.

5 out of 5 eggsMUCH MUCH Better than a 5.25 Fan Controller

Pros: +Fan control through CAM
+Small and concealable
+Not as flashy as a 5.25" controller
+Better built than my Sentry Mix 2
+Easier cable management than Sentry Mix 2 (no unnecessary cables lying about)

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Could have more fan plugins, but that'd just be overkill.

4 out of 5 eggsNice little tool/addon

Pros: this device is very handy in side a small form case like the prodigy M. its very compact and easy to use. connects your fans to the motherboard for ease of use. the CAM software is very user friendly. and make system cooling easy.

Cons: well. it only takes 3 pin fans. you need to sacrifice a usb 2.0 header and the adhesive pads are absolute gargage

Other Thoughts: I like this product , its very handy. makes things easier for airflow management.
