- The black textured plastic matches the plastic of other StarTech components, I for example, used a card reader in this space and it matched perfectly.

Cons: - None really

Other Thoughts: Only suggestion to some folks would be that the screw holes on the sides of this bracket for the 3.5 drive inside (I used a card reader) are quite thick, likely good for quality purposes, however I had to use longer screws to reach the drive - luckily my case had come with some. More of an fyi.

Pros: Inexpensive

Cons: This item is made of the cheap, soft plastic. I have purchased many of these types of adapters and the plastic ones were made of the hard stuff. This plastic is soft, bends easily, and if you are not careful you will strip the screw holes. This soft, slippery plastic is hard to screw tightly into place which makes inserting USB sticks and such difficult as the unit tries to slide back into the case.

I used this to adapt a new Star Tech memory card reader which I ordered at the same time. The internal mounting holes/tabs barely lined up with the reader. After I installed this in my new build and turned the computer on all the internal blue LED lighting leaked around the outer edges of this adapter, and also around the edges of the reader, as it is not made to the proper size. At night it looks terrible so before I closed up the new case I carefully used a tube of black liquid rubber to seal the gaps. The rubber is cannot be seen and seals the light leaks.

I have never had this type of problem with any other 3.5" to 5.25" adapters.

Other Thoughts: I will not purchase this adapter again and will try to find one that is made of better plastic or metal. This a a shame as over the years I have purchased several Star Tech items and have always been pleased.

Pros: It's hard to go wrong with a simple bracket although it can be done. But not in this case. It has big holes to be able to reach screws further in. And it has the small holes on the outer braces to be able to take advantage of those cases that have push-button install of optical drives and such.

Cons: nothing

Other Thoughts: It's too bad it wasn't designed to be able to also adapt 2.5" hard drives and SSDs. But it wasn't advertised to be that so there's no egg-ding.

Pros: worked for a while
Not worth sending back

Cons: It was cheap

Pros: Bought this for StarTech internal media card reader. Fits it's own product well, screws holes lined up perfectly with my case. Like brushed finish on front, matches my case exterior well.

Cons: Screw holes on bracket hold the reader were not made too well, be careful with too much force they will crack easily.
Screw holes to mount the bracket come with screws, holes are too small for usual PC screws as these are pre tapped
holes made for screws come with it to hold it in case, not machine screws, but would work if used. I did not made holes slightly bigger for machine screws.

Other Thoughts: All in all bracket works well for it's brand internal device, looks good!

Pros: Installed fine, everything lined up ok (which was a concern when I ordered it). Comes with the screws you will need to mount the adapter into the computer.

Cons: Does not come with the screws you will need to mount the drive into the adapter. Wasn't a problem for me tho, I had plenty laying around.

Other Thoughts: Used this adapter bracket to install a 5th hard drive into the empty IDE optical bay of my old Mac Pro 1,1. Worked like a champ!

Pros: Basic plastic bracket that aligned perfectly in my Antec 900 case. Installed a Rosewill RCR-IC002 card reader into it without issues.

Cons: It's plastic, screw holes are un-tapped, makes installing a pain. My recommendation, pre-tap your holes if you can. It did work but it's kind of flimsy.

Other Thoughts: In a pinch it worked ok but would opt for something better if I had more time..

Pros: Fits purfectly and looks good too. Would but again. Nice and clean black look. Really like it and the priceis great. If you are hesitaing on buying this dont.

Pros: Solid bracket and a nice black color. Entire bracket is black plastic, so scratches won't turn the bracket white.

Cons: The mounting points are thicker than than they should be. Likely to compensate for being plastic instead of metal. Your standard fine machine screws for PC cases may not be long enough. (They are not included)

I needed to hit up Lowes to mount a Rosewill and Vantec Card Readers securely.

Other Thoughts: The bracket mounts using self tapping screws, which are included. They are silver, so if care about what the inside of your case looks like, get some paint.
