2 out of 5 eggsWeird Power LED connector

Pros: -Everything but the power LED works as advertised.

Cons: -The Power LED's connector has a 3 pin connection with nothing in the center pin hole. Maybe if you have a super special MOBO that happens to have that exact connector it would work, but you might as well throw out the power LED when you get it.

5 out of 5 eggsGood stuff at a good price

Pros: Good quality , cheap price , LONG cable , made me feel like an smart engineer . DIY FTW .

Cons: None as long as you don't expect it to make pancakes for you.

Other Thoughts: I used this on my HP XW4400 tower that had an abnormal front panel switch. after drilling a few holes and using this baby I rebuilt the old tower and saved myself some money by not having to buy a new case. really if you have an older case or have a broken front panel then spend $4 and get this . the installation takes 5-10 minutes and the results will make you happy.

Also , be gentle if you're trying to change the sockets on the switches (for whatever reason). I accidentally broke one lock on one of the pins but that was entirely my fault. use a needle and be gentle and you'll be fine.

5 out of 5 eggsConvert Dell Case to Standard Connectors!

Pros: Updating my 15 year old Dell Dimension 2400 family computer. It already has standard uATX mobo and ATX PSU mounting points - the only problem was the case LEDs and power switch with proprietary mobo connector. Well these switches and LEDs snapped right into the green Dell bracket and converted the case to standard connectors! No soldering required!

Cons: The LEDs used in this kit are all standard size, some cases use mini LEDs. I was able to squeeze a standard LED into the mini LED bracket so no issue this time.

Other Thoughts: I wish I had known about these last year when I threw away a case that had a broken power switch - this would have fixed it. I will be keeping a spare set of these on-hand.

4 out of 5 eggsThe other power button

Pros: Single cables for neatness, no cable cluster. Great for test builds and testing before assembling inside case.

Cons: All LED cables off the bat did not work. Except the sleep LED cable in particular worked for awhile.

Other Thoughts: Bought these exclusively for the power button, instead of using the bent metal clip to motherboard pin method to act as a power button.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great for case modding. building my own case so they came in very handy for the front power switch.

Cons: wish you could have other LED colors, but that isn't worth knocking off an egg.

Other Thoughts: very well labled

5 out of 5 eggsWorks As Expected

Pros: - Work as expected
- Good quality
- Ends are labeled
- LEDs are nice and bright
- Standard wire gauge

Cons: - A bit pricey for $1 worth of parts (note I didn't deduct a star for this)
- Positive and negative leads on LEDs are not labeled (but lead cable appears to be ground, and it follows the same conventions as PC cases do with the plug labels on the correct side)

Other Thoughts: $9 is a bit much but I wanted a product I knew would work and StarTech is pretty darn good quality.

I have an Asus Z87 Pro Mobo.

I did not end up using the power/reset switches (refer to other reviews for info about those). I built an external box with the power switch, reset switch, and LEDs so I could hide my tower elsewhere. I cut and spliced in the ends in this kit to plug the box into the mobo but I used 12v relays for the switches as I read somewhere that often the motherboard doesn't have the voltage to complete the circuit with added resistance due to length. The HD light indicator however is plenty bright with a total of 10 feet of 24 awg copper between! This is probably mobo dependent but mine had enough volts to run the LEDs over this length just fine.
