Ever seen one of those computer cases with the LCD status reports and wished you were as well-informed? Or maybe you were just suffering from gadget-envy.
Well, nMediaPC makes this handy OEM-grade display that lets you be informed of your computer status just like those much more expensive computer cases. ("OEM? What does that mean to me?" It means you have to buy a little mounting rack and download the drivers from their website when you install it.) It fits handily into a five and a quarter inch drive bay and hooks up to a USB port. What will it display? More than I have room to talk about, but it can tell you about CPU usage, temperature, fan speeds, what music track your CD is playing . . . check out their website for more.
Whether it's something you need, or just a handy item you could use, decide for yourself if this is the one for you. We'll still be waiting when you're done.

Great Product for Custom Installations
- Pros: The Display is nice and bright, The software features a Lot of different things you can customize to have it display, From the Current date and time, to your OS to your Temperatures and Fan speeds, CPU usage, Hard drive space remaining, whether or not you have new email. Literally hundreds of functions can be displayed. If you use your PC to play music, this will show a graphic EQ with title song and other info. I am really happy I bought this product.
- Cons: #1. Plugin for power connector was exceptionally short and the USB cable is not very long. (Acceptable but could have been longer)
#2. Software and drivers had to be downloaded. (It warned of this but still should have come with a CD)
#3. The manual was a little bit, well um "Little" you needed to go to the web site to get additional information.
- Other Thoughts: The temperature sensors, Fan speed sensors, Voltage core, etc. need the program Speedfan to be installed and running to work.
This supports Winamp and Media Center and I am running it in Vista 32bit.
I did a custom install into a Cosmos 1000. I installed this right into the bezel rather than filling a 5 1'4 inch slot. I want to link or show images but am afraid this post will not be accepted if I do so I may add another review with links to see if they let them be displayed.
Good addition
- Pros: Works well with the nMediaPC 2000B case. The software it came with is very good as well.
- Cons: Read the other reviewer's comment on its installation order so that you won't have to re-open and install it.
- Other Thoughts: I recommend it the 2000B case and this LCD screen.

Nice and simple
- Pros: Simple to install. Looks great. Works okay with provided software.
- Cons: Manufacturer software doesn't recognize a lot of things, like Fans Speeds, Voltages, Sound level, etc. Almost half of the features in the menu don't completely work. LCD Smartie it is.
- Other Thoughts: The only way to tell up from down is to look at the text on the circuit board, labeling the resistors and whatnot. Proper orientation of the text is proper orientation of the LCD.
- Pros: Blue display looks nice in my nMEDIAPC 5000B case, and installation was easy in same.
- Cons: No indication which way is up. Not an issue if you test first as instructions suggest. Dll for downloaded software didn't register correctly when installing in Win7. If you do not manually register it then the Media Center integration will not work.
- Other Thoughts: I will probably skip the downloaded software ( m-play home center) and go with LCD Smartie
Works! Pretty cool too;)
- Pros: Blue display works great once it is setup. Did take a little time setting it up the way I like it.
- Cons: The display is almost a little too bright and the letters are small, which make it hard to read from across the room.
- Other Thoughts: The included software is good, but doesn't work with many applications. I am using LCDSmartie, which works great with this LCD (though it took me a couple of days to figure out how to get it working). I have the LCD integrated with BeyondTV, and it will show me what is being recorded, what is upcoming, what the status of my tuners are, CPU load, temps, fan speeds, etc. on my HTPC. I love that I don't have to turn on the TV to see what my computer is doing. I did make the mistake of not realizing that I had the wrong case for this LCD (nMedia 100b, not the 1000), but a little hot glue and no one will ever know:)
