Pros: Has all the features I personally need. I know people were complaining about the outdated software, but honestly, I tried LCD Smartie as some had suggested, and quite honestly. I found the nMedia software easier to work with... personal preference I guess.

Cons: Only 1 color to choose from. Be nice if the face came in red. From what I can tell though, by searching the internet, I'll probably be able to Frankenstein a new red face on it quite easy. Guess I'll find out..

Other Thoughts: My personal opinion is, just because a software is old, doesn't mean you can't make it useful. I'm not using it as an HTPC panel, just a personal one. Works great in winamp, though you must manually turn on the plugin each time you start winamp to make it display. I suggest before actually installing or using any software for this, you simply take the time to read the .PDF. Took me less then a days worth of time to learn how it worked, how to create my own .cg files, how to utilize them, etc.. Again, personal preference, perhaps others find other software more to there liking. But honestly, as HTPC software, I would NOT use the nMEDIAPC software offered. I think it could be argued, that if you want all the cool out of it, go with the default software, but if you want functionality as an HTPC interface, then absolutely use something else.

I wanted to setup the HTPC in the basement with the 50" big screen, and HD Homerun Prime Cablecard tuner, as when testing out Windows Media Center software and remote control, and etc, the old outdated software is pretty useless. I would probably buy another one of these, but first I want to get the software down right on the HTPC. As many know, Windows 10 won't include Windows Media Center any more, so alot of us are gonna be stuck with Windows 7 or 8 to run our HTPC's unless a suitable software replacement is found, including the LCD screen compatibility. It ran a few things in WMC but was buggy.. It would display the show's title, run time, etc.. but wouldn't display the channel that was tuned on the cable card's lineup. I blame a huge portion of the PRO-LCD-B downfall on crummy software, though, not totally useless.

Myself personally, I am still looking for that ever elusive HTPC LCD panel that does everything you want... The PRO-LCD-B, actually comes out ahead in a race with not much competition, though the race started back in the XP days, and nobody has really stepped forward to compete.

Pros: Works

Cons: I thought all this device would need is a driver, but it also requires a control program to be running. Then, if you want it to display fan speeds or temperatures you have to download a third party program called Speed Fan. I downloaded Speedfan from the recommended link in the manual. During installation my malware program warned of potentially unwanted programs included. During installation of Speedfan I had to CAREFULLY read and uncheck several options to install other programs such as 'Secure Search' and other unwanted programs. Apparently something managed to slip through because after reboot my browser would not load any web pages. Something changed my browser options to requiring a proxy server. I fixed that and scanned my computer with my malware program which found 15 potentially unwanted programs. Also, did a virus scan and now everything seems OK. Speedfan has to be running for the device to monitor fan speeds and temperatures.

I finished setting up the device. The manual says the driver is newly compatible with Windows 8. Apparently the control program is not quite compatible since the display could not identify my operating system (Windows 8.1) as it was supposed to.

Took the device back out of my machine and got an RMA to send it back.

I believe this device is more trouble than it is worth.

Other Thoughts: The manual directed me to download Speedfan from a site which installed unwanted malware on my computer. This was not appreciated and I will make sure that I never purchase any product made by that company again.

Pros: Installs easy after you download the software fro the manufacturers website. reports lots of info without you having to do any customization.

Cons: Most of the info it reports is useless, does not work with SpeedFan as promised, will not report motherboard volts or temps, software is terrible, tech support in non-existent, after many calls to tech support and leaving messages with no return calls I finally got someone who told me to read the manual....Yay!..

Pros: Straight forward installation.
Does exactly what it says. No more. No less

Cons: No support for VLC (the only media player I use)
I think if there were an SSD bracket in the back of the unit it would sell more. As of now she is a mess

Pros: Low cost compared to other LCD units (that have better build & features). Due to DOA/non-functioning unit, I cannot recommend this device.

Cons: DOA. The power wires were very small/narrow/flimsy and were not properly mounted into the connectors of the 4-pin molex power adapter, resulting in "no-power" to the unit. Power wires were not sleeved.

Pros: Cheapest LCD display I could find. Good enough viewing angles and refresh rate. Looks professional enough. Uses internal USB header.

Cons: Documentation is horrible and reference software is horrible. Tricky installation, you must know what USB pins provide power and ground (they are not the same between motherboard manufacturers). Most third party software is also horrible and was written many years ago.

Other Thoughts: I wrote my own LCD controller in Java and draw strings directly to the screen. It was a relatively simple process and will be ordering more for my custom projects / software.

Pros: The display was very nice and easily readable. Thats about all i can say.

Cons: You will lose a USB port for this product. Display stopped working after a few months. Def not worth spending your money on.

Pros: This is a question to owners only: I only want this to display a clock and maybe the date, so does it have that ability? I will install this in a media PC and would also like to know if the display is readable from 15-16ft. away.

Cons: none

Pros: Simple device that plugs into a USB header and molex plug, displays what you want it to via the software on nmediapc's website or other software designed for it, like LCD smartie. Looks great, bright but not hard to read, sits flush and overall is a fine product that does what you need it to.

Cons: 4-pin USB header connector. Why not just use the good old fashioned 9-pin and save folks confusion? Not a make or break deal though.
