5 out of 5 eggsIts an adaptor

Pros: Plastic, shallow profile, black in color.

Cons: Meh...

Other Thoughts: I used this to adapt a CORSAIR Hydro Series H60 (CWCH60) High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler to my HTPC rig. The 60 to 120mm constriction doesn't seem to matter. Idle at 30C, flat out at 50C on a Phenom X4 970

4 out of 5 eggsThey work but don't over tighten

Pros: Do exactly as they're intended. You can show the logo, or turn it so it's all black. Good quality plastic, not flimsy.

Cons: Just be careful not to over tighten. Screw carefully. The corners will crack on the surface. It doesn't affect the function, they don't break or anything. But you will see a stress line on the corner. They aren't meant to be switched out all the time.

Other Thoughts: Great product, high quality, would recommend and buy again.

5 out of 5 eggsUsed as shroud / duct to direct airflow

Pros: Works awesome as a shroud / duct to direct air to back of GPU. Installed on 120mm fan which I zip tied to HDD rack. The smaller 80mm end is pointing to GPU inlet. Lower GPU temp in crossfire was previously excessive; with set-up noted, the lower GPU temp now close to upper GPU temp. Both GPU's have noticeable reduction in temperature.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Would recommend as a shroud to direct airflow to back of GPU if you want or need to lower GPU temperature. Only modification necessary was to open mounting holes on 120mm side to allow screw to pass through the adapter to thread / bolt onto fan. Intended use is to use small diameter provided screws through fan to bolt fan onto adaptor, but for my set-up, heads interfered with flush mount to HDD rack. Used zip ties through 80mm side to mount to HDD rack.

My case is a haf x. Fan zip tied to HDD rack is in a location similar to corsair c70 stock fan mount location (middle of case, not at front of case). With my haf x and 5870's in crossfire, 80mm side of duct is about an inch from the back of the GPU's.

Same set-up without duct made little to no difference in GPU temperatures as air was not directed properly. Duct / Shroud ( this adaptor) caused air from fan to be more of a directed stream of air; without the duct the air was diffused an ineffective.

5 out of 5 eggsAll of the holes line up.

Pros: Allowed me to mount a Rosewill 120mm fan to a 92mm bracket on a cpu heat sink (Hyper TX2).

Cons: Price. But I bought it, so that's not an egg off.

Other Thoughts: The 120mm fan mounted to this adapter wouldn't fit in my system due to my giant chipset heatsink; certainly not the fault of this adapter. However, please be certain that a 120mm fan will actually fit into whatever area you plan to place the assembly. Seems self apparent in hindsight...

Shouldn't we be making these on 3d printers?

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect

Pros: This fan adapter was exactly what I needed. My old eMachines case didn't have any options for a front intake fan but I managed to find some pre-cut holes that matched an 80mm fan pattern. Throw on this adapter and I have a nice 120mm intake fan that really improves the airflow into an otherwise crippled case.

Cons: The holes are made to adapt fans both ways so I did have trouble trying to use silicon fan mounts to secure the fan. Eventually got it to work but it wasn't the "right" way.

Other Thoughts: If you have the space to place a fan but don't have the mounts for it, this is your saving grace.

4 out of 5 eggsThis thing is the very definition of evolution

Pros: - It adapted my 92mm fan hole to a 120mm fan brilliantly.
- My case is very stylish with what looks to be like a giant protruding cone of death extending of the rear of the case.

Cons: - Hardware didn't fit either my fan or my case

Other Thoughts: - The engineer who designed this thing should be working at NASA, a thing of beauty such as this should not go without merit.
- I had to go pick up some of my own hardware to make this work, but hey at 7 cents a screw who can complain.

3 out of 5 eggsFan adapters

Pros: Come with all the hardware you need to mount.

Cons: Plastic is strong but cheap. When tightening 2 spots snapped and almost cracked threw. I didnt over tighten but was using a case fan screws that came with so was maybe too big?

Other Thoughts: Use a smaller screw with a nut on the other side. Would be nice if that came with set as well.

4 out of 5 eggsBest going with 80/92mm vent and 120mm fan

Pros: Nice idea, useful adapter.

Cons: None, but see "Other thoughts" for what doesn't work, and something that should work...

Other Thoughts: Tried using it with a 92mm fan on a Corsair H50 radiator cooling an i7-950 where a 120mm fan wouldn't fit under the radiator due to another fan venting the GPU, but the 92mm fan ran several degrees C warmer than using a 120mm fan so I went to Plan B and used a 120mm fan on the H50 and figured out something else to help cool the video card.

If you have a case with a 92mm fan vent and need to maximize airflow but try to keep things quieter (and, or course, if you have the square inches for it to fit) you could attach the 92mm end of this to the case and attach a 120mm fan to the adapter to either pull air in or push air out of your case...I haven't had a chance to try this yet but will if the opportunity comes up with a future build.
