nMEDIAPC ZE-C288 Black Aluminum Panel 5.25" Bay All-in-one USB 2.0 Card Reader with USB 3.0/e-SATA Port/HD Audio Ports and two Fan Controllers

Pros: Full featured: Audio, USB 3, fan control, probably works fine.

Cons: Pins in the (molex) power connector were loose - nearly free-floating! I tried to get them to line up for about 15 minutes, gave up.

Other Thoughts: The main mounting screw-holes near the front don't line up w/ anything in my particular case, I was afraid I couldn't even mount it properly. Fortunately there are six more smaller holes towards the back of the unit, one row was visible through the mounting bracket. No "standard" size screws worked, but some small almost wood-type screws fit fine. (The plastic shell has some re-enforced area to take the screws.)

Pros: Had good combination of features on paper

Cons: Card reader doesn't work, and couldn't find any recent drivers that would help.

Other Thoughts: Returned for a unit from someone else.

Pros: Works mostly as advertised. Good length to internal connector cables.

Cons: Instructions minimal, don't really need them if you have any build knowledge. Purchased 2 of these - 1 fan controller doesn't seem to work (that one runs full speed).

Pros: Lots of functionality in one device. Black front aluminum panel looks nice. All the connectors work as they should.

Cons: Seems just a bit flimsy; there's a bit of give when inserting or removing media.

Other Thoughts: A pleasant surprise was finding out that the "TF" slot is for MicroSD cards (these were originally called "TransFlash" I guess, thanks Wikipedia!) so I can read cards from my mobile device w/o an adapter...

Pros: This has a real USB 3.0 motherboard connection. Not the stupid pass through cable to the rear of the PC. I'm not using the fan controllers but everything else is great. It seems a little cheap, but not so bad that it will fall apart or anything. I like it!

Cons: Slightly cheap feeliing. All plastic, etc..

Cons: Une des 2 fan est toujours entrain de sautillier alors que l'autre fonctionne tres bien ! Malheureusement doit le retourner ! La qualitée du plastique laisse a desirer.

Cons: Seems a little on the cheapo side. SD cards seem to go in a little rough or a little loose in some cases.

Other Thoughts: Overall I would say its worth the price. I use SD cards daily and it hasn't failed me. I haven't had a chance to use the USB 3.0's.

Pros: It has a lot of functions in one convenient controller

Cons: Some of the cords are a bit short, but this is not too big of a deal (i did not deduct and egg for this)

Fan controller knobs feel a bit flimsy

Other Thoughts: Check your motherboard before you buy this to make sure it has all of the right hookups. Mine does not have the correct USB 3.0 connector (not nMediaPC's fault)

The fan controllers don't do anything to my fans, I think it is because my fans are high powered and run off of a designated power source...

Pros: it very easy noob to adjust the 2 fans and it has internal 3.0 USB connectors. card readers and e-sata port with HD audio ports with headphone and mic jack.

Cons: none

Pros: The panel looks wonderful on the front of my Antec Airboy Blue/Black. The benefit of having a card reader in the hardware is also nice, except...

Cons: The Panel causes my computer to produce errors with random processes, such as Chrome, Explorer, etc., in which in says that there is no drive in \Devices\Harddisk3, and to insert one. I thought it was the eSATA extension, so I unplugged it, only to find out, sadly, that it was not. Apparently the card reader itself causes the issue, since it is the only other component I can use.

The USB ports would have been nice, but I found out a little late that my Z68 Motherboard had four 4-pin front USB headers, but no 3.0 20-pin header, despite having 3.0 capability via the back slots. The panel doesn't offer any other option for the USB header (Which I thought was pretty standard. My experience has been that most companies with similar components ship either an converter cable for 4-pin or an already attached 4-pin cable).

Unfortunately, the item's problems are only exacerbated in installation: It doesn't quite fit the 5.25 bay, and is very flimsy, making it harder than it needs to be.

Other Thoughts: The Motherboard's lack of 3.0 header is irritating, and not nMedia's fault, but they are behind in the standard of providing a means for alternate headers. That said, I generally find my experience to be highly lacking with the product. I'd recommend checking out a slightly more expensive panel option, just because this is worth as much as it is sold for, and that's not a whole lot. It could work, however, if you have all the necessary headers and somehow avoid the drive failure messages.
