XIGMATEK Accessor Pro Extreme Speed Real USB3.0 3.5" Card Reader 75 in 1 CCO-UCOFSP-U01

Pros: Bargain price. Has the slots I need, including microSDHC compatibility (most tablets and e-readers use this now). Simple installation, plug-and-play (someone asked "who has a 2.5" external slot?" Well, nearly everyone does, it's the hole the floppy drive used to fit in). Has a USB port which I needed, it's in a case built in 1998, before front-panel ports were around.

Cons: Several reviewers noted that the USB3 cable does not have a MOBO header but instead has a standard USB-A male end, so the cable must be routed outside the case and into an external jack. This was actually a plus for me, as my MOBO does not have a USB3 header on it, so while the back of the case doesn't look like a factory unit, the front does have a USB port that works.

Other Thoughts: I found that I had to disable the legacy USB drivers in my BIOS setup or this device caused bootup problems. Sometimes the computer would not boot at all until I updated the BIOS; afterward it still seemed to take forever, and about a third of the time the card reader would not work without manually updating the driver in Device Manager. Apparently the legacy driver wasn't letting go of the device and conflicting with the Windows 7 driver. So I would not count on booting the computer from a flash card in this device. And just to belabor the obvious: the USB3 port will only work at USB3 speeds if the cable is plugged into a USB3 jack!

Pros: It works. :o|

Cons: The title says usb3.0 card reader. It's a 2.0 card reader with a 3.0 passthrough... that's it! There's an external 3.0 cable that must exit your case to plug into the back plate. The 2.0 cable plugs into a motherboard header.

Other Thoughts: False advertising if I ever saw it!

Pros: comes with white & black faceplates

Cons: 1. Card reader is USB 2.0 not 3.0
2. Cable for USB 3.0 port is an external plug (not the header type needed to attach to your MB)

Pros: Works, was cheap, pretty straight forward.

Cons: As mentioned in earlier reviews, it has a USB 3.0 slot, but the rest of the slots aren't 3.0 speed.

Other Thoughts: Good product for such a cheap price

Cons: *Really poor quality
*only one of the mounting holes matches the case
*CF card does not fit
*no response from any of the card readers
*no instructions at all-The regular 2.0 plug is only a half a plug so you better know your pinout before you plug it in and know where it goes..
*When anything was plugged into the USB 3.0 outlet all the other regular USB ports died!

Other Thoughts: The box showing this product on the front cover is copyright 2011....Did they even have a USB 3.0 port back then? Take a work of advice and DO NOT BUY this junk and take a chance on ruining your motherboard--just not worth it. Ok I cheaped out and got an expensive lesson. I am sure I can count on Newegg for a refund.

Other Thoughts: The item description states the following "Interface: USB3.0 / USB2.0(Flashcard)". I don't understand how there can be a complaint that the card reader is not USB 3.0

Cons: how many people have an "external 3.5" bay? I missed this small item and now have to hack it into my antec case and lead the usb3.0 cable out the back of the case into a rear usb plug.

Other Thoughts: Not sure what all the speedy-sounding words are doing in the name - this is a standard USB 2.0 card reader that adds a USB 3.0 front port. Which is fine - if that's all you're after.
But if you're looking for a card reader that operates at USB 3.0 speeds, you'll need to look elsewhere. They run about 2x this price, so if you thought this deal was too good to be true, you are correct.
