4 out of 5 eggsWatch those LEDs

Pros: They're not kidding about the construction - this thing is built military grade. Fan speeds are nice like everyone else said.

Cons: If you're building a PC with a color scheme in mind (red and black for me, in a HAF XB EVO) these LEDS have nothing for everybody. They're red at full speed, blue at low speed, off is off. They're rather bright and if you're going with a combo of high speed and low speeds on separate fans, you're going to have this mash of bright red and blue florescent lights across your drive bay.

It is possible to disconnect one or the other so the switches will light one or neither, but having to operate on those unlabeled connections that control them, potentially disabling the wrong LED, is a bit of a pain.

Also some of the wire connections on the included extension cables were a noticeably loose. They're usable but it will take some care.

Other Thoughts: Works as intended superbly but can be ugly if you're concerned about the LED feature.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Analog fan controller

Pros: -Has plenty of connectors

-The variable speed switching is nice (Blue is low, Red is high):
I notice decent temperature change from High to Low while gaming and Idle. But even on low, when not gaming I stay at 25c

-Easy installation, looks good

Cons: -The 4pin connector is a little flimsy socket wise, the prongs are super loose.

Other Thoughts: Would like to know if this is comparable with a Liquid cooling pump, such as the Corsair H60 setup.

I think it would be neat to variable the liquid cooling.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks fine

Pros: Mounts easily. Switches are nice. Supports 5 fans. Uses 3-pin connectors. Comes with shrouded cables. Blue light color matches my Antec case fan color.

Cons: Exposed electronics. I would pay more for a better build if one were out there. Any suggestions? The PCB is completely exposed and unshielded. It would make sense to mount the controller itself in a CD-ROM style housing and would probably not add much to the retail cost.

I did not use the included 4-pin Molex power extension cable. The pins are not mounted well in their connector and look like they've been burned with a lighter.

The front face plate does not line up flush with the case and thus makes it look cheap.

Other Thoughts: The blue LEDs, silver switches, and black face plate color and texture give the device a professional look and feel which pairs well with my Antec Twelve Hundred case. A few minor tweaks and this bit of kit could easily earn 5 eggs. Would I buy another one? Yes.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Controller

Pros: I bought this when my NZXT Sentry Mesh dropped a channel.
Pros:
-Freakin' sturdy. Upon opening the box and pulling it out, I was blown away. This thing is easily the sturdiest PC part I've ever seen or felt. You could probably bash it from the front a few times with a rock and you might chip some paint, but that's about it.
-Quality switches. The faders on the NZXT always felt cheap. The switches on the Lamptron are like the Terry Crews of switches. POWERRRRRRRRR
-60W - lots of power. I run 10 fans on this thing without any problems. Like Jeremy Clarkson says - POWER!

Cons: -Typically doesn't make me breakfast
-Awkward to install - it's just really heavy for a fan controller. Not nearly enough to even think about taking off an egg.

Other Thoughts: If you're looking for a no-frills fan controller with a lot of power, this is what you want. You only get two settings, but they seem to be in good "sweet spots".

4 out of 5 eggsBest Built Fan Controller for the price

Pros: Good build quality: Every inch of this controller is has a quality feel and there's a good heft. It feels great flicking each switch.

Informative LEDS: An led will light either blue or red, depending on low or high power.

Looks great!: The military style knobs and overall design enhances any cases looks.

Cons: Bright LEDS: The red is tolerable, but the blue completely illuminates a room. So bright that other leds pale in comparison.

Faulty Fan Cord: One of the fan power cords was defective. Good thing, I only need four at the moment.

Other Thoughts: Besides the faulty cable I received, I'm very satisfied.

Pros: sturdy metal construction. Good finish. solid switches. Relatively easy to install.

Cons: no medium setting for fans. cheap packaging. No instructions included with packaging (it's not rocket science, though).

5 out of 5 eggsThe best fan controller I've ever encountered.

Pros: The best build quality I've encountered in a fan controller.

Perfectly machined aluminum with flawless anodizing, and a beautifully made PCB (no sloppy solder or rough edges). The switches are solid, and the LEDs brilliant without being annoyingly bright. Includes two sets of hardware; one set of phillips head machine screws, and one set of hex head machine screws - this allows you to choose your preference. It also includes five 12" fan extensions with quality black connectors and black sleeves (easily a $10+ value), and a 6" Molex 4-pin extension cable.

I have to stress this, before you read the "cons" section, I have not found a single fan controller that matches the quality of this unit, other than the Laptron "Hummer" which is very similar in design and almost as nice.

Cons: This is nit picking really, but it's worthy of mention.

The biggest issue I have with this unit is that it leaves a small (1/4") gap above the bay where it's installed in my Corsair Vengeance C70 mid-tower case. The face has rounded edges which leave a small gap at each corner, too. Most people don't notice it until I tell them, but I know it's there draws my eye right to it every time.

My second concern was the poor quality of the included Molex 4-pin extension cable. What a piece of junk! After seeing the nice fan extensions, I assumed it would be of similar quality, and was truly disappointed. The contacts in the connectors were misshapen and installed cockeyed. The male connector was so out of spec that it would have taken a mallet to install it in the fan controller slot, and the female connector was ever so slightly off, making it difficult to insert the lead from the motherboard. Needless to say I did not use it.

Other Thoughts: Again, fantastic product. I selected this model after looking at at two dozen different models in person (potentiometer style, touchscreen style, etc) and this was by and far the best quality of construction.

I use this unit to power several fans; a 120mm high static pressure push/pull system on my hardrive cage, two 140mm intake fans on the side of my case, and a 120mm intake of the front of my case. This system appeals to me as they all run quietly on "low" power settings, but move a lot of air on "high" settings when I'm gaming.

Believe me, these switches and this casing will outlive any plastic shell, touch screen or potentiometer on another model.

5 out of 5 eggsGreet fan controller

Pros: This thing is absolutely well-built. The switches are solid. The red and blue led is a nice touch to let you know what setting you have on. It also comes with a 4-pin molex extension cable and 5 3-pin extension cables so it easier for all your case fans to connect.

Cons: N/A

Other Thoughts: I am using this product with the Corsair 350D case and I was only able to screw it on one side. The other side of the 5 1/4" bay blocks where the screw would be due to the tool-less mechanism. Not a major deal but I would like to point that out.
