1 out of 5 eggsWaste of Time

Pros: It arrived on time

Cons: Only one Con, I plugged it in and instead of lights I got a large pillar
of smoke, and thank the stars I cut the power before it melted any
of my costly new components, please dont waste you money on this
disaster waiting to happen.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat!

Pros: * Works with just about any fan with 3 or 4 pins
* Granular control of fan speed: 1 degree can go from 0 to full speed or anywhere in between.

Cons: Wish this was available for more and less fans. For tower servers need one or 2 more, for desktops hard to use all 5.

Other Thoughts: I only use the Phoebetria open source software. If you can RDP to the box, no need for any other remote access.

5 out of 5 eggshad it a while now

Pros: got this for a early build in 2009, still using it in this one. so six years of pretty constant use and it still shows temps within 1-4 C of mb numbers. quantifiable info to use in showing differences in case and other temps

Cons: the little thermal adhesive strips for mounting the sensors are pretty weak. either be able to put them physically in the airflow, as in a little hot melt or tie or expect them to come loose

Other Thoughts: this unit has done me well and is still working fine. mine came with a couple of extra sensors which i've not needed so far. wiring is long enough and power is molex.. these were not available for a while..

5 out of 5 eggsDecent Piece of Hardware...

Pros: Sweet little fan controller... While the Cable Management is a nightmare, its still worth the effort.

Worked with all my case fans, but I quickly found myself scoping out other fans that had speed control built in...

Make sure you have fans that support the controller, as you will come across certain fans that will not allow you to adjust the
speed and find yourself ordering a new batch of fans just to go with the controller.

The Web UI/Phone controller is a little clunky and I personally dont see a need for it, but it's a nice add on.

Cons: Make sure you turn off the alarm noise, since it quickly becomes annoying during start up if you don't have all 5 fans plugged into it.

The screen is decent, looks good, the display angle isn't the greatest, but it looks ok.

Make sure you have two USB headers open on your motherboard, or else get a card that has two USB headers so you can plug this in, I had to get the NXZT usb extension board to use this, and I would HIGHLY suggest getting one or two just so
it wont take up all your usb port headers.

Other Thoughts: Just make sure you have the open connections and everything should go ok...

3 out of 5 eggsGood, but sluggish

Pros: It looks great, can be controlled from a tablet, runs many fans and supports a wide range of power levels. It also includes replacement bits and pieces which is really nice. It feels sturdy.

Cons: It's very sluggish. I'm primarily interested in PC silencing and it's very difficult to do back to back listening tests with this thing because it will adjust up and down (sometimes to full blast) until it gets near the RPMs you've asked for. I would prefer to set target voltage and accept the RPMs that produces, which is how a traditional fan controller works. The only reaosn I didn't use one is that I was concerned that it wouldn't fit with the front panel on my case.

On that subject, I had to remove one of the toolless clamps from my case to install this because it isn't as deep as an ODD. Just double check that your case allows this.

The last issue is the software. It works, but it isn't clear and a bit buggy. For example, you can create profiles and save them but the functions to delete or use them don't appear to work (at least not in Firefox).

Other Thoughts: I feel a bit disappointed that the reviews out there don't mention these things as they are very significant sticking points in a device that is supposed to give you more control over your machine. That said, It does its job well enough for my needs which don't involve too much fiddling once it's set. It also really does look excellent in my Obsidian 550D.

3 out of 5 eggsIt's "OK"

Pros: It looks great.
The screen is easy to see.

Cons: Controls aren't really that intuitive.
RPM readout probably isn't that acurate.
The software doesn't work at all.

Other Thoughts: I tried installing the software as per the PDF. I guess it is supposed to start some local server or something on your machine, but it doesnt connect. I couldn't find the two Windows services that they wanted me to start, and more to the point, why does the software installation for a consumer device require going into administrative tools/services anyway?

3 out of 5 eggsMeh

Pros: It works
It provides power to fans
Looks nice

Cons: Cables are a mess
Software you can install is not good
Too many wires and they are too long
The thermal indicators do not have a good system for attaching to devices

Other Thoughts: I used this thing for quite some time and I like the way it looks but I had so much trouble managing these cables. The software you can use is useless. I ended up taking it out of my case to clean up cables. I am still trying to figure out why the cables are so long for this unit. The tape that comes with it for attaching the thermal indicators is garbage.

1 out of 5 eggsPiece of junk

Pros: NONE

Cons: Installed per directions that came in the box. As soon as I powered up my computer the fan controller poured smoke out of my machine as I scrambled to power it down. Will be RMAing for a different controller

2 out of 5 eggsMore trouble than its worth :(

Pros: One of the best looking fan controllers out there.

Cons: I've had this for almost a year and during that time I've had the same issue as others with the controller shutting itself off when you mount a screw in the right side all the way. It would turn itself off and start to smell like it was burning. Not sure why this happens, but it always does this if I unmount it to move things around.

It will not read the correct speeds on my Noiseblocker fans, something about the voltage? It displays an incorrect max rpm, so I cant run them at full speed.

If you keep a manual setting, occasionally it will change back to auto by itself. So I have to keep an eye on it every once in a while and change it back.

You have to use the temp sensors on this controller or it constantly beeps. So I have them on and zip tied in a bundle.

When it works, its great. But its so full of small annoyances that I would recommend a different fan controller (if you actually need one). I've decided to go ahead and replace it (which stinks, cause I do like the faceplate on this one).

Other Thoughts: I've thought about buying another one, in case this is just some kind of dud. But after seeing other reviews, I'm glad to know it's not just mine.
