4 out of 5 eggsPretty good, rarely won't fit some racks

Pros: Well constructed and the action on the slide is very nice. Lines up with the mounting holes and feature on the Norco case I have (RPC-430). Not expensive.

Cons: Does not fit with a rack that has U-shaped posts. My rack has U-shaped posts with holes along the front but also holes that are behind and perpendicular to the front face. Paired up with my RPC-430, these rails require some mechanical clearance behind the front face of the post so that they may recess to allow for enough clearance for the case to fit between the two front posts. See this picture for what might work (left) and what doesn't (right). I ended up cutting a notch out of my rack for them to fit. http://www.istarusa.com/images/products/standard/WX-228_20.jpg

4 out of 5 eggsNice rails for Norco

Pros: Works well on the norco 230 and 430 case. It is different than the pictures, but it works great for all my cases. The ends are pretty easy to setup. Don't know how other cases work, but it works great in norco cases and norco racks.

Cons: There is no instructions except for a picture online. On the other hands, rails are too complicated. Knocked it one beg for lack of documentation/instructions.

2 out of 5 eggsSquare compat only?

Pros: Ball bearings will likely support the rated load, well machined so as to not cut off my fingers while handling. Good turnaround on support request from Norco email.

Cons: Does not fit my threaded rack. I have bought this "exact" item twice before in the past and it had L brackets for "inside mounting" to the side holes, and it worked well.

Well, now they ship without the L brackets, they mount to the front lip of the rack instead of the side lip, and they simply don't come close to fitting threaded systems. Consider this for square hole racks only.

Other Thoughts: Support request to Norco was answered almost immediately with pictures of the rails mounted to a square hole rack, as if to prove to me that they are not totally worthless. He confirmed "we redesigned it" and this is not simply a matter of missing parts in my shipment.

When you redesign a product in a way that it affects compatibility, you should change the model number, so people don't reorder it expecting the same thing. shame shame.

1 out of 5 eggsPoor quality garbage from Norco

Pros: The ball bearings allow the case to slide in and out well, once you get it on the rails...

Cons: The two pieces of rail that attach to the case are identical instead of mirrored. They did not come with instructions on how or where to mount them, since they are made to work with different cases, and the cases different rails. The rails do not extend out far enough for you to remove the lid, or to be able to reach all components in the case.

Other Thoughts: I will steer clear of Norco products in the future, the two products I have purchased of theirs are both worthless.

2 out of 5 eggsLimited mounting options

Pros: I got it to work. Norco seems to have good customer service.

Cons: Not at all what is pictured. The larger l brackets have only 3 pre-threaded holes (2 used) and uses a sandwiching method (bracket->rail->metal plate) to mount to the posts. It isn't possible to use cagenuts or even the screws for a pre-threaded rack. Does not include the smaller L-mounts pictured for inside-mounting in a server cabinet. Product that comes from newegg will not work with RPC-4220, but you can call Norco to get a replacement (I have an extra set of these now; they didn't want them back)

Other Thoughts: I had to drill out holes and use the small L-mounts from another rail kit to get it to mound inside my Compaq 9000 series server cabinet. Using with RPC-4220 rev. 2 (it has a tab towards the front to attach rails). It is entirely possible that I don't know what I'm doing since this is my first rack-mount server, but my overall technical knowledge is high. My roommate bought rails for a different case that were much easier to use. Newegg, please open up a box and take new pictures!

1 out of 5 eggsDon't Buy

Pros: Okay for some server chassis.

Cons: Picture is not what you get. Be careful. I though the metal arms had many hole mounts but didn't.

Other Thoughts: I have a ARK 4U-500-CA Black 4U Rackmount Case and the holes don't line up.

Both RL-26 and RL-20 are ball bearing rails, support all Norco rackmount cases.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent Looking Rails

Pros: Felt heavy and solid. Smooth movement. Seemed Sturdy. Came with ample screws.

Cons: Does not fit the Norco RPC-4220.

Other Thoughts: Would be nice to have snap in rack mounting.

4 out of 5 eggsNew mounting system?

Pros: Works well with 430mm chassis, slides smoothly. New system does not require metal grinding.

Cons: Still hard to install.

Other Thoughts: Just got both a RL-26 and RL-20. RL-26 is still using the mounting system as pictured. RL-20 appears to have received an update. On my rack I've had to mount these on inside of the rails. The old system requires that I grind 2mm off each bracket to fit my cabinet rails. Needless to say it's a PITA.

The RL-20 new system requires that you do inside mounting unless you're handy with power tools. However it comes with brackets that help you line up with the square holes and mounts flush. Much improved over the old system.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: should work on most rackmount chassis. rails slide smoothly and seem well built

Cons: horrible mounting system... you cant use your racks normal screws unless you want to drill out these brackets (they are not the same as pictured). i've ordered this same item before, about 6 months ago, which were the ones pictured. what is shipped here is a revision of some sort. the rails slide a little smoother, but the mounting is horrible. personally, i'll look to a different brand next time.

Other Thoughts: not sure if these would work on threaded racks.

4 out of 5 eggsWork pretty well

Pros: Installed these on a Norco 4U case. It's installed in the rack, and they seem to hold the weight up well.

Cons: Unfortuantely, the mounting holes in the end of the rails were too small for the screws in our rack so we had to drill them out. Also it was barely long enough, consider the longer version of this product if you have a deep rack.

Other Thoughts: Given 4 eggs because of the dirt cheap price. Worth the money if you know what you're doing.
