4 out of 5 eggsNot quite a filter

Pros: Cheap, easy to install, easy to bend (and stay sturdy) for specific situations.

Cons: Not quite as much of a "filter" as I was hoping, more of a grid. (This will stop some of the dust) and I was also expecting it not to necessarily be a full-fledged filter, judging by the images on Newegg.

Other Thoughts: For my purposes the lips got in the way (or are pointed outwards) - I'd expect that if these were attached directly to fans they'd fit quite well with the bit of play they have.

I might try removing the lips off the spare one I still have left over, to see if it can be done cleanly.

I still gave them 4 stars, basically what I was expecting, they fit where I wanted them to and do help keep dust out, just not quite as much as I was hoping. Will be looking for some cloth? filters soon to add under these.

5 out of 5 eggs...nothin' but net

Pros: Push-on. Optional screw-on. Secure fit. Only add 1-2mm thickness to overall fan thickness. Minimal air restriction. No difference in sound. Appearance. Quality of manufacture. Price (purchase includes 3 of 'em).

Cons: None. Well, if your purpose if filtering dust-size particulates, look elsewhere.

Other Thoughts: I did not buy these as filters per se ...any filtering they would be doing was of entirely tertiary concern to me.

My purpose for these was as internal fan guards.

I reach into my case while the PC is on (and have smacked my fingers, or pushed cables, into moving fan blades) just often enough to look for a solution. These fit that need perfectly.

Of almost accidental consideration was that they unexpectedly and markedly improved the interior aesthetics of the case.

I use white-bladed Arctic Cooling fans, and while they work very well, their appearance in an otherwise black interior was simply gauche lol. Now they're behind a steel mesh, and it's a vast improvement.

...it didn't hurt to hide the overly red fans in the Thermaltake NiC C4 CPU cooler, either (aside: the NiC C4 is a great CPU cooler btw).

Obviously YMMV as to my aesthetics observation.

But as shipped these ARE really quite, quite good as guards.

...dunno why you'd really bother even considering anything else either (especially for what amounted to less than two bucks a guard).

NOTE: These would make an excellent push-on "filter" IF you used them with a very thin, non-restrictive, particulate size material of some sort (like a thin cheesecloth, for instance).

Since they're metal, they can be easily bent to accommodate various thicknesses of material, and still push-on over the edge of the fan. The only limit to their use is with the imagination.

Recommend!

1 out of 5 eggsWorthless, don't buy

Pros: I never used these because they're just pointless. If you are looking at this, buy this product instead: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811999258

Cons: Doesn't block dust, really serve no purpose other than adding more metal to your case.

1 out of 5 eggsThese are worthless

Pros: Nothing good to say about this product, its worthless.

Cons: I ended up not using them. You would be far better off buying these instead: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=11-999-258

5 out of 5 eggsBetter than i thought!

Pros: Easy to clean these suckers. Just grab a lint cloth or a paper towel and scroll on by and watch as you pick up all that nasty dust from your fans and rads. They are metal so i had to bend the edges to make it fit on my rad but it worked so yay!

Cons: Nothing really. Metal if thats a problem for you.

Other Thoughts: Need more...

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent fan filters

Pros: -Excellent build quality (metal)
-Extremely easy to mount
-Very good value
-Size of the mesh does not seem to interfere with the airflow/performance at all

Cons: -None at this time

Other Thoughts: Hopefully it will keep the dust out of my case. I've had these for less than a month so only time will tell if they do the trick. So far so good.

Other Thoughts: -yup

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works well as a fan filter. (Clean them every 2 months)
Picked these because I wanted some degree of filtration while not limiting the airflow by much.
Low price
Has the option of screwing it on or just attaching it on the fan itself. (Has ledges on all four sides to hang on to the fan)

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsKeeps a good amount of dust out

Pros: -comes with 3
-nice drop in dust amount inside my case
-Thin enough to work on most PC cases*

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: *I own a Sunbeam Transformer. The front 120mm fan has a tools-free clip that holds the fan. I had to reverse the filter to make it fit, but it works.

4 out of 5 eggssimple and effective

Pros: Single piece, no fancy multilayer covering that restricts options, durable.

Cons: Curves at the edges to grip the sides of the fan, which made it a snug fit for my case fan by the back panel.

Other Thoughts: yeah, its pretty much the same as a speaker covering
