1 out of 5 eggsTotal Piece of JUNK!

Pros: None that I can think of...

Cons: Front falls off during install. Plastic tabs are butter. it is a short model so it won't fit in a dell with tool-less caddies.

Other Thoughts: Looking for another option, this is not it!

5 out of 5 eggsJust helping...

Pros: Fast transfer rates, uses USB 3.0 for card slots, unlike many of the other front panel devices that actually conntect via USB 2.0

Cons: This unit is bus powered, so do not expect to get the extra power that USB 3.0 can offer, no charging your iPad or cellular phone at the faster rates of powered USB 3.0 ports...

Other Thoughts: For everyone that is saying it is strange that the SD card inserts upside down. This is normal, not a QC issue, and be prepared for this on EVERY multi-card reader, due to the fact that it supports multiple standards in each slot, there are some compromises that have to be made, such as the SD card needing to be inserted upside-down... You can test this on any 'multi-card reader' that supports a million card types... :-)

2 out of 5 eggsPotential Problem for Windows 7 Users

Pros: Convenient device, supports multiple formats, gives you a front panel USB 3 connect.

Cons: Device driver causes errors when used in combination with Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy service. This service is used by multiple backup applications as well as core Windows features like System Protection. From what I've been able to determine, the drivers (Microsoft supplied) install several removable media drives for each card reader. VSS attempts to poll these drives during execution and hangs up. This can result in all sorts of strange apparent process freezes, most notably in my case long timeouts during installations, many of which attempt to create system restore points and invoke the VSS service. The only solution I've been able to come to is to manual disable the driver via System control panel device manager. You can enable it again when you need to use the readers.

Other Thoughts: There's little to no chance of getting any attention to this issue from M$. It likely affect all CD readers (at least those that use the default M$ driver). The fault is not the fault of the manufacturer but fore warned is fore armed.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Card reader

Pros: USB 3.0 = Fast transfer

Cons: Some cards inserts upside down

Other Thoughts: Just read a review from another user that the SD card wouldn't go in. I've had the same problem initially till I realized that its designed to take SD cards UPSIDE DOWN. Kind of weird, but hey it works!

1 out of 5 eggsReader that won't read

Pros: Motherboard 24 pin connector, LED, and USB 3.0 port all worked as advertised. Nice size to fill an old floppy bay on the case. Plenty of cable which seems to be good quality. You don't have to run a cable back to the outside of the case and use up one of your USB ports.

Cons: The SD card slot won't accept SD cards. It acts like it's bent or somehow jammed with the card phsically locked out. I use SD cards in just about everything and the SD card reader is the main reason I bought this unit (to complete a new build).

Other Thoughts: Someone before me had installed the unit and evidently returned it to the Egg. The unit's mounting nubs and plastic covering on the sides were scraped up. I closely looked at the panel when I unpacked it, saw the markings, and hooked it up to check it out without actually installing it. It's impossible to miss the SD card problem if you try to insert a card.

1 out of 5 eggsHas issues reading SD cards

Pros: It's USB 3.0 so it's fast. Will read/write @ the maximum speed of the card you have. For example my Lexar Professional 600x 32GB reads @ 90Mb and writes @ 45Mb.

Cons: I'm not sure if this QC or not but this is my second one and BOTH have strange issues reading SD cards. Sometimes cards won't detect, sometimes they loose connectivity after a while in the slot. Not to mention that for whatever reason SD card slot reader is upside down and requires a slightly more effort then normal to insert a card.

5 out of 5 eggsJust what I wanted for Christmas

Pros: This card reader/USB3 installed in seconds and was identified easily by Win7 Ultimate on my new build.

Cons: Some cards must be installed with contacts up and other contacts down. Not sure if that is a QC issue or what. LOL

Other Thoughts: Make sure you have a motherboard that has the new USB3 plug in. I think it is a 20 pin block on the mb
