5 out of 5 eggsHigh quality accessory for certain cases

Pros: This is an aluminum case add-on to convert three 5.25" drive cages to 3.5" and 2.5" drive mounts, and includes a 120mm fan to boot.

Silverstone quality aluminum, easy assembly to replace the fan (which I suggest doing unless you plan on mounting actually platter HDDs inside).

What I did, since my HAF 932 case is limited by the horizontally facing HDD cages riveted to the intake fan, is mount this directly parallel to my NH-D14 CPU cooler. I also zip-tied a second fan (both attached to this Silverstone thing were also Noctuas not that it matters, just for silence and potential static pressure). So I have an effective slipstream intaking and jettisoning air to cool my CPU.

Cons: Honestly, very few cons. The aluminum is rather easy to scratch. The mounting points are kind of hard to use and takes some elbow grease to screw it into your case. My biggest con is that all the newer cases that even have more than three 5.25" drive cages are gigantic "supertower" cases that weigh 40 lbs by themselves! I just want this plus my Blu-Ray drive, but looks like upgrading my case might mean losing this forever :(

Other Thoughts: If you could use extra airflow (keep in mind many filters are designed with magnetic parts attracted to ferrous materials, i.e. steel and not aluminum), I recommend this. If you want to get rid of your HDD cages altogether and stick everything up in this converter, that's an even better idea since that cool air will cool everything else instead of just the CPU. Power to the people!

4 out of 5 eggsworth it

Pros: If you have a full tower case, chances are you don't need four or five Blu Ray players. This is a rather expensive solution to that wasted space, an aluminum 5.25" to 3.5" bay converter with a nice 120mm fan to liven up what might otherwise be a spot for hot air to collect.

The extra air flow is great. This fan intakes cool air directly toward my push-pull tower CPU cooler, which then is jettisoned out of the case by my exhaust fan in the back. Super proud of this flow since it's my first build.

currently I only have one ssd in it, but it's exceptionally cool. It's better suited for a hard drive, especially if you use a performance one often. It can fit three 3.5" drives easily, four in a slight squeeze.

Cons: As the negative reviews have noted, the material is quite malleable (aluminum). Screwing in my 2.5" drive converter resulted in the steel screws eating away at this $50 accessory. Likewise with screwing the "universal" converter to the three replaced 5.25" bays, lots of wear just trying to implement this device.

But for $50 it seems an unnecessary "premium" choice of metal that only shortens the time I'll be able to use it.

Other Thoughts: I'm still happy(ish) with this product despite its collection of scratches. It's more useful than just a fan alone, and if I downsize to a midtower case I'll be sure to have enough 5.25" bays to use this again.

1 out of 5 eggsExtremely Fragile for the price

Pros: * It fits a standard 3 x 5 1/4 inch drive bay.

Cons: * The 'metal' used for the construction is extremely soft! I ended bending the frame when fiddling to remove the stock fan.
* No filter mounting/options.

5 out of 5 eggsadded cooling, looks neat

Pros: Looks amazing, brushed aluminum front panel, sleek subtle design. Glad I got it.

Cons: May be tricky to clean. Q tips do the job thus far.

Other Thoughts: Had spare bays and only one intake fan. This unit help make a visual statement with an otherwise dull case (Ultra X blaster), add extra airflow right into the cpu intake fan, and help keep my HDD cooler, (2/3 slots still empty)

5 out of 5 eggsPricey but solid

Pros: -Excellent materials and build quality
-Looks great
-Ideal number of drives for 3 bay slot
-More than adequate cooling
-Fits easily in most cases

Cons: -Fan noise at full speed
-LED may be a bit bright for some
-Pricey

Other Thoughts: Just what the doctor ordered. Replaced 3 unused 5.25 external bays with 4x4TB hard drives. Now have usable space for 10(!) internal 3.5" drives in a MINI (not mid) tower case. Remarkable. Fans runs a little loud at speed but undervolted and spinning at ~600 RPM I hardly even know it's on. The best part? All four drives hover between 28 (idle) and 32 C under heavy usage, virtually identical to the temps they pulled while installed in the standard internal bays (with cooling).

Yes, their are cheaper options out there, but I've used this unit in three different cases and it's an absolute champ. Mounting brackets are well dampened (thick rubber bushings) and the build quality is top notch (solid aluminum construction). Highly recommended if you swing the $

5 out of 5 eggsGreat product

Pros: Fits my non silverstone case perfectly minus brands not matching. Bought 2 of these for a full tower and both fit great.

Cons: Collects dust, what PC component doesn't...

4 out of 5 eggsGreat cage, but with quirks

Pros: Great build quality. You have the ability to change the fan in the cage. The front panel looks amazing in black brushed aluminum.

Cons: I had some issues with the screws and the front panel (The black front piece of the cage). The screws (some of them) cross threaded inside of my drive while I was installing them, but they did not crossthread when screwing the screws in just the hard drive themselves (I checked to make sure I didn't use the wrong screws). One actually broke, forcing me to sand the broken screw of out the drive hole.

As for the front panel, check to see if you have these bent out tabs inside of your case that separates the 5.25" drive bays into single bays. My Cooler Master Sniper case has them (I think tooless drive cases have them as well). The front panel would not slide in fully because it hit these tabs (It stuck out by 1/4"). I had to cut the tabs off in order to fit the panel. It's not the drive cage's fault, but it is worth mentioning because it is a pain to deal with.

The aluminum part of the cage is a severe fingerprint magnet. Those weary of keeping the cage clean should wear gloves.

The fan is held in by four plastic pins. I wished that it was installed with screws in because I trust screws more than these pins.

Finally, the instruction manual isn't so great at explaining. I was trying to slide the side panels off, but realized you just pull them off (The manual just showed the panels off already, with no arrows indicating how to remove the side panels).

Other Thoughts: The included fan does an okay job of moving air, but I replaced it with a Corsair SP120 High Performance fan. I would recommend changing the stock fan with a fan with high static pressure (since it has to push air through the drives). The manual doesn't say how to do so, but all you do is unclip the black panel (There's clips on the side), then pull out the pins holding the stock fan in (You pull on the head of the pins and it pulls out).

I'm using this cage for a RAID array of four WD 4TB Red Drives.
