2 out of 5 eggsPoorl design

Pros: Looks good from the front.

Cons: see that the Firewire (IEEE-1394) connector is positioned so that the wires will be sharply bent and rub against the metal housing. Also; the Firewire leads for the motherboard are all separate, making connecting a headache. I have a notion to return it.

Other Thoughts: If you are looking for just USB2 and esata - then may be okay.

1 out of 5 eggsUseless

Pros: Easy to hook up to motherboard

Cons: Didn't actually work

Other Thoughts: I hooked this up to take advantage of my extra USB headers on my motherboard, figuring the 4 front USB ports would be really nice. When I started my computer, Windows said an attached USB device failed. Turns out it was talking about the hub. While it lights up and everything, plugging anything into the USB slots does not allow it to be read by Windows at all. I spent a good hour looking online for drivers. Not only does Bytecc fail to supply any drivers or really any support for their products, but no place online seemed to have drivers for this model. There was absolutely no way to get it to work (at least not on Windows Vista or 7).

1 out of 5 eggsDo Not Buy This!!!

Pros: None

Cons: I am sending this Product back to Newegg, because it only worked for 3 weeks after I put it in my system.

Other Thoughts: The USB connector is the old in-line 5 pin and not the current 5/4 pin configuration. The Firewire connector has separate pins and not a full connector, making the connection to the Motherbaord Firefire connector difficult.

4 out of 5 eggsWas leery at first but it works!

Pros: Ok so I have only had it for today but everything installed just fine. The build quality is not great but it is cheap!

Only wired for USB and e-sata currently. Only really need it for USB devices but it will be good to have if/when I grab a firewire or e-sata device/drive.

Cons: Build quality seems to be a little suspect with some of these Bytecc products. Some of the reviews on the device almost made me want to buy something else.

When it arrived, there a couple weird , light scratches around the e-sata connector slot but I haven't been able to test out the e-sata yet.

Other Thoughts: Installing it was a slight hassle until I found out my wicked awesome Thermaltake Armor series case has it's own weird proprietary slot for holding such a device. Huzzah! From this point installation was a breeze.

1 out of 5 eggsRun far away!

Pros: NONE

Cons: Complete Garbage-I installed this and abut 2-3 minutes later it literally caught fire!

Other Thoughts: DO NOT BUY THIS!! It is a good thing I still had the case open, it was easy to reach in, unplug it, and extinguish the blaze. BYTECC should be ashamed for making such a piece of garbage. Imagine would could have happened if it decided to go up in flames in the middle of the night!??

1 out of 5 eggsWas Defective Don't Buy

Pros: None (Made my system unstable, and only the first half of the USB ports by the power light actually work)

Cons: I am sending this Product back to Newegg, because it was defective and the parts are sub-standard. Bytech should know that most newer motherboards have a 5/4 pin configuration, and that the USB that is included with this is only 12 MB, which is the older 2.0 standard not the newer 480 MB Standard.

Other Thoughts: If you want Firewire, good luck figuring out the pins on your motherboard because they are separate pins and not a full connector.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't Buy

Pros: NONE (Only half of the USB port worked on the part they sent me, and I had to send it back, also manufacturer used substandard parts in the manufacturing of this item.)

Cons: I received this product. Had to ask a local computer store how to correctly install it. I did it exactly as I was told. ONLY the First Two USB ports actually work. Also the Cable is sub-standard with a 5 pin cable instead of a newer 5/4 pin USB Config compatible with most modern updated motherboards. I am sending it back because it is defective. One more caution the USB 2.0 is only 12 MB unlike the 480 MB that it should be at for modern USB.

Other Thoughts: Bytech should know better than to sell this cheap junk to the public. Better parts could be used and the soldering job obviously is defective!
