3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This unit does exactly what I wanted without having to purchase several products to do the same thing.

Cons: The temp sensors didn't last very long as they are very fragile and the sticky tape on the end of the sensors isn't very sticky. The power module that has to be plugged into the standalone "USB" outlet was kind of a pain to deal with, especially if you move your computer around a lot. I ended up using it for about 4 months and then decided to take it out and it's been sitting in a box for almost 2 years now. I doubt I'll be using it again.

Manufacturer Response:

We sincerely apologize for the issue. Please contact our customer service e-mail support.usa@zalmanusa.com or via toll free number 1-888-925-6266 for further assistance.

Thank you.

Best regards,

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Controller!

Pros: Great viewing angle, long wires for fans and temp probs, nice to have real time wattage read out...

Cons: I have no complaints about this unit...

Other Thoughts: If you are looking for a decent controller for 4 fans and want real time wattage read out then this is the unit to purchase...

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It looks really good, the quality is right where it should be.

Cons: The fans you use have to be 3 wire, variable speed. I did not know this when I purchased it, all my case fans are 2 wire...... fffffffffff. If you plug in a 2 wire fan, it will turn on and off every few seconds(odd).

Other Thoughts: One guy wrote a review on here complaining that the multi function knob on his unit was broken, before one of you think that yourselves, you have to push the knob in for aprox. 3 sec. before it flashes and lets you switch control between the different fans/temp probes you have plugged in.

1 out of 5 eggsPoor Quality

Pros: Nice appearance - they look cool, but that's about it.

Cons: No power connector included, missing parts
Poor instructions
Cheap connectors, poor tolerances.
Poor live tech support - decent web support

Other Thoughts: Nice appearance. Like most Zalman products they look cool and draw the inexperienced builders but they lack solid engineering and inferior quality components. I am a system builder and will only utilize their product if it is demanded by my client.

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: Looks great, gives you lots of control over fans and gives you info about temps in many areas of your computer. Hi visibility.

Cons: Temps seem fairly accurate but not really close to onboard thermocouples. Can't control every fan type, although this isn't necessarily the controller's fault.

1 out of 5 eggsLooks nice but is far from a great product

Pros: Doesn't look like a toy unlike the other controllers.

Cons: Doesn't run my fans even close to spec and runs them 200 rpm slower than my mobo. With supplied or third party y cables the max rpm slows to almost half. Designed for low performance fans.

Other Thoughts: I wish I had read the full description because I thought I could throttle the fans by temperatures. My bad on that one.

5 out of 5 eggsThird time's a charm for Zalman Fan Controllers

Pros: I had an MFC2, and it definitely had a few flaws, all of which seem to be resolved in the MFC3. Seems to have unusually good algorithms for keeping fan speeds steady, even if you're trying to run them so low the fans almost refuse to start up. This comes with temperature probes, but the fan speeds are not controlled by temperature -- fine by me, since I would demand the ability to set my own detailed response curves.

Cons: If you want the speed of your fans to be controlled by temperature, you need to buy actual temperature-controlled fans, or hook fixed-speed fans to the motherboard for control. This controller will just not let you couple temperature and speed.

4 out of 5 eggsPretty Good

Pros: -Power usage display a big plus
-Can control speeds of fans - been very useful when certain games causge my GPUs to heat up allowing me to crank up the GPU coolers
-Viewable from all angles

Cons: -When connecting a 3-pin fan to the PWM spot on the back, you lose the ability to control the fan speed (expected, I guess, but a little annoying)
-Might just be my experience, but the cable provided to connect to the MoBo's CPU fan connector also does not allow speed adjustment.

Other Thoughts: For my setup, it works well as I only need to adjust the speeds on the GPUs, see power consumption, and monitor temperatures. There may be issues surrounding controlling CPU fans, but for my purposes it's great.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: It seems to be a quality product in every regard. I installed it to control the CPU fan and four case fans (two case fans in parallel using the "Y Cable". I really like the watt meter. I have the four thermocoples located near the CPU, RAM, and both GPUs.

Cons: No cons. Great product. There is nothing not to like, it does exactly what it is advertized to do.

5 out of 5 eggsNice!

Pros: Nice "cool' display. Has total wattage usage to display the power that your system is drawing.

Cons: Wish it displayed in Fahrenheit also, and not just Celsius.

Other Thoughts: I need to more of these, but they are a little pricey.
