5 out of 5 eggsWorks well, easy to handle

Pros: Worked well enough for the thickness of this dampening foam. Had no trouble with installation.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes its job very well for the price

Pros: Considering it only costs $16, this foam suppresses noise exceptionally well when. This might be because I put it on almost everything in my case that was not a hole for ventilation or a part of a mounting apparatus(not in the interior of the bays).

Also, I covered a perforated mesh of the 5.25'' drive bay on the front of my case. However, I also added two very quiet fans with great CFM/noise(Enermax T.B. Silence). Lastly, my case was already somewhat quiet, but I purchased this because my graphics card has coil whine. Since it's toward the center of the case, the foam should serve to absorb its noise better than it would for case fans, which allow much of their sound to escape directly out of the case.

There was more than enough foam to cover absolutely all surfaces(not ventilation holes) of the interior of my mid-tower case, and even enough left to double up at least a quarter of it(which I did not do, since it would be a bit of a waste for my computer). For a full-tower case, there is still definitely enough to cover all or most of the interior.

Note that this is very probably not a sole solution to case noise.

Cons: None, really.

4 out of 5 eggsJust some "facts"

Pros: light weight, easy to use/cut.

Cons: Don't expect much, but maybe a little is all you need.

Other Thoughts: Real world test in a DVR. DVR at 3ft=58db. Installed on top lid, and much of the bottom and side as possible at 3ft=56db. Added other sheet to side of cabinet near fan at 3ft= 55db.

I was able to get a 3db reduction in noise at 3ft. Seems that's about the best you'll get.

5 out of 5 eggsIt works for covering fan holes.

Pros: At $16 the price point is a bit high and i didn't need all that i got. I would have taken a smaller amount if it were available. I used this to plug up all the un-used fan holes. I don't know what it did for total sound dampening but at least i know it worked for the 2 side panel fans. I don't see a need for side panel fans but with that gap dust get in and that's where the noise will come out of. I have all noctura fans so i never hear them but if you have semi-noisy fans i'm sure this quiets it down.

Cons: Wish i could have bought have the product for half the price. I have lots of un-used foam now,

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: You get a lot of it for the money, easy to apply, no offensive odor that I could detect, it works.

I was not really sure if I was going to notice a difference with this, but I was pleasantly surprised. It does make a difference I can hear (or not hear) on my case (which has thin metal, as so many do now).

Cons: Once it is stuck, it's not going to be moved. The foam is not very strong physically, so if you try to peel it off, the foam will tear, leaving a thin layer still glued to whatever you attached it to. It is easy to trap air underneath-- I did like another reviewer suggested and used a needle to let the air out.

Other Thoughts: This is not going to make a loud PC quiet, but there is no silver bullet for building a quiet PC or quieting a loud one (unless the noise source is one specific thing you can replace). I chose the 3 case and 1 cpu heat sink fans for their noise to effective flow ratio, put the fans on silicone mounts, chose a case without a top panel vent (which would direct the noise right at me) and with a bottom mount power supply to keep the noisy PSU fan cool and slow, used Speedfan to get the case fan RPM as low as possible and still cool well, replaced my video card's noisy stock fan with an aftermarket (Arctic Twin Turbo II) cooler that cools far better AND is nearly inaudible even at full speed, and then finally added this foam to the side panels and top panel inside the case. I am happy with the results-- my PC is nearly inaudible while gaming, and even running Prime95 in place FFT and Furmark burn in test at the same time, it's still not obtrusively loud at all: My SPL meter gives a result of 51 dB(A) with the meter resting on the back of the case, with the microphone pointed towards the rear (I run the stress tests for 10 minutes to make sure its good and warm before I take the reading). If I hold the meter where my head usually is while I use the PC, the meter (which does down to 50 dB) doesn't even register a noise with the PC under full GPU and CPU load. This is not one of those high-dollar quiet PC cases; this is a $35 case I am using (although if I had known from the start I was going to add so many dust filters and noise reduction things, I might have just bought one of those premium quiet cases that already has all the stuff I added).

5 out of 5 eggsBetter than just silencing... must have!

Pros: Silencing is nice, especially useful for cheap steel cases, as others below have mentioned. giving a more "solid" feel.

Useful for covering small holes and crevices that may let in/out air where not wanted. with a little measuring and a few snips of the scissors, any surface can be made more aerodynamic and/or given a sleek look.

This product also is useful for sleeving and/or skillfully tucking ugly wires away without noticeable ugly lines like one gets with electrical tape. its a very nice amount of sticky that's very forgiving... however after 24 hours, it does leave residue on surfaces if removed.

Works quite well as padding for fans too! A little or a lot, its really useful stuff for an inventive modder!

Cons: Its not the be all, end all, to computer noise. You should really consider your cooling fans and pumps, as number one priority in the pollution. Only con I think of, is that I have never seen a computer purveyor that offers to install this stuff in computers for you... a shame, since some computers warranties are voided if you even open the case :/

Other Thoughts: Its not the be all, end all, to computer noise. You should really consider your cooling fans and pumps, as number one priority in the noise pollution.

Great for those who enjoy spending time, and obsessing over their rigs.

5 out of 5 eggsLove this stuff!!

Pros: This stuff cannot be beat when building a super quiet rig. Recently used this stuff on my brothers new build. I bought a lower end case w/PSU. It was an all steel case, which sound like a tin can sometimes. Just tap on the outside of one of these cheap cases, the sound just sends chills down my spine I can't stand it. But after lining nearly the whole interior of the case with this stuff, the tin hollow sound is easily defeated. Instead of a "tink" sound, it's more of a "thud" sound now. Feels like a solid build now.

The kit comes with two very large sheets that was enough for me to line up a standard ATX case. I cut the stuff up to my liking and lined up nearly the entire interior of this case.

Cons: It can be a bit smelly, but it dissipates after some time. Not bad enough to take an egg away

Other Thoughts: I swear by this stuff. You want to do a quality build, use it!

4 out of 5 eggsif you're looking to buy this, it's what you'd expect

Pros: -it is easy to use and cut
-does what it's suppose to do (i think at least)
-black like my case
-has the wonderful side effect of helping reduce vibration slightly

Cons: -hard to remove
-effects are only marginal
-difficult to install in some cases
-one time adhesive

Other Thoughts: -if you're looking at this, then you are probably just trying to make up for all those fans you put in. dont get me wrong it'll help.... but only a very small amount. which may be what you're looking for.
-i wonder if this would work well if i coated the walls of my room with it...

2 out of 5 eggsDon't expect much

Pros: The glue sticks well; enough foam to cover most mid-tower cases.

Cons: The glue sticks well... too well, now I can't take it off. This foam is pretty thin and doesn't absorb much noise. It tears easily too after it's installed in the case. The glue also smells very strong. I usually leave my machine running until it goes to sleep. For at least a week after I installed this, I had to do full shut downs because the smell was giving me a headache.

Other Thoughts: I recently got a silent case. The foam in that case is definitely superior to this dinky stuff. I bought this to try and quiet down my Lancool and although it helped, it wasn't worth the effort.

If you want to knock off a couple of db then this stuff is for you. Just don't expect much more.
