This mighty dual ball-bearing fan, amply equipped with 120mm blades, safely ushers damaging excess heat away from your PC’s sensitive components at a rate that zooms to over 110 cubic feet per minute! On the low end, this fan sports a whisper quiet 17 dB of sound generated at 800 RPM, which builds up to 39.5 dB at 2400 RPM in the throes of intense system action. This fan is packaged with a stylish aluminum fan controller so that you can optimize your fan’s cooling, and tailor it to suit your needs.

In addition to neutralizing harmful thermal energy with its hefty white blades, this case-compatible fan keeps dust and other particulate matter from settling in your PC. For the serious PC enthusiast, protect your PC from the rigors of extreme use with this formidable cooling fan.

Best Fan Money Can Buy!

white Reviewed By: Fan Man Stan on 7/16/2005
Rating + 5
Comments: I bought one of these fans for my revved up dual-opteron 250 system. Rather than get one of those advertised "quiet" fans, I opted for the absolute most powerful fan I could find, because a "quiet" fan running at 12V is essentially the same thing as a "powerful" fan undervolted.

The potentiometer in the dial will change the speed of the fan gradually from low and silent up to a roaring max. If you want to use the fan without the speed controller, it will run whisper quiet, but still pull decent air.

However, for best performance/silence, I recommend plugging a spare jumper into the fan and getting the "NoiseMagic NMT-3" (silicone acoustics) or some other comparable thermal controller, which provides a linear curve starting with 5 bolts at 28 degrees to 12 at 42 degrees.

The first time I didn't add the jumper and the fan spun so slowly that I could see it move - about 300 rpms, but even at a voltage that low, it didn't stall...

After I fixed that by adding it in, the thing starts off whisper quiet after I turn on the computer, but still pushes good air. When I am doing a lot of heavy processing, it gets warmer and the speed increases, but it is never deafening at all.

Once I disabled all of the speed/thermal controllers on my Workstation, and this thing produced a roaring output, turning my PC into a veritable wind tunnel. I dropped a sheet of paper against the side of my machine where the vent holes are, and it stuck right there until I shut down the computer!!!

Another neat thing about Silverstone is that they seem to continually make improvements on their products. When I ordered this fan a few months ago, the listed top speed was 3000rpm, and it had the standard seven fins instead of nine, although an outdated picture of it showed three. Now they seem to have lowered the RPMs to 2400 and also reduced the decibels, but yet increased the cfm air flow up from 104 to 114!

Not only do they make a great product, but their engineers continue to make slight changes to make them even better than before - Avoid those cheap black 38mm extra thick clunkers with the five fins: the noise is terible and based on reviews they don't undervolt well.

Get this silverstone and you will not regret it :@)

Oh Em Geezm These Things Rock

Tech Level Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 week to 1 month
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: What can I say. These fans are soooooo good. I bought 7 of them (I have a CM stacker 830). I use 5 for intake and 2 for exhaust and it keeps my GeForce 7950GX2 running OC'ed(600/1500) at 50 DEGREES CELCIUS!!!! And on full load it hasn't gotten over 68 (card gets hot when OC'ed obviously). It even keeps my 4200+ OC'ed to 2.7Ghz at 32 idle and 38 load (with Zalman AM2 cooler used in conjunction).
Cons: The noise. They are the loudest things I've ever heard but I did want to get extreme cooling without going liquid cooled. The noise is worth the cooling they offer though.
Other Thoughts: I was thinking of maybe getting some fan controllers but I want my system to always be cool (since I'm OC'ing quite a bit).

Controller knob

white Reviewed By: on 11/18/2009

Tech Level Tech Level: high - Ownership: more than 1 year
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Adjustable fan speed with controller knob
Cons: Fan controller board
Other Thoughts: Knob for adjusting speed is good, use it to pull air from the cpu out. Can be whisper quiet to roaring loud. Didn't like the controller that came with it so I broke the metal around the knob off and stuck the knob through my Antec 900's external liquid cooler port.

It died after a month

Tech Level Tech Level: average - Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Worked well when it worked.
Cons: After about a month it kicked up to high speed and was no longer sensitive to the speed adjustment variable resistor. Sounded like a vacuum cleaner at that speed and I took it out of the machine. I'll replace it with a single speed (cheaper) fan.

Quality fan

Tech Level Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: 1 week to 1 month
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Turn it up, and it will blow papers off your desk and kick up dust in your case.

Turn it down, and you can't hear it above the CPU fan.

It comes with a speed controller.
Cons: The speed controller will only work for that one fan, and it takes up a 3.5" drive bay.

The speed controller was also difficult to install well on either of the machines I've put them in - one got taped in, and the other was a tight enough fit to just stick in place with friction. It needs longer internal tabs before it will overlap with your drive cages to be secured by screw or tie.

Lost an egg for the tape install.
Other Thoughts: If I need to buy a single fan for a computer without a speed controller or mobo plug, I'd buy this one again.
