2 out of 5 eggsVigor USB Extender

Pros: I have bought about 20 of these for our school district. Some have worked great, others have worked for a short amount of time and then gone bad.

Cons: Like I said, some have worked fine, others have not worked for long.

Other Thoughts: Spend a little more money and get a better product.

2 out of 5 eggsDied after first use

Pros: None

Cons: This stopped working after its first use. I used a 50' length of cat5e, plugged in a USB hub and powered two RF adapters for my Logitech wireless rumble pads. The Computer recognized that something was plugged in for a moment, but then soon after it could see nothing and the adapter stopped working entirely.

Other Thoughts: I used and IOgear extender that I bought on newegg a year prior and it worked perfectly, so I returned this one for a refund. I will buy the iogear instead.

5 out of 5 eggsWorked for me!

Pros: Extends low-power USB devices over long distances, and it works!

Cons: Is not independently powered. USB devices that need more current will not work with this device.

Other Thoughts: I used this to extend two PC webcams for my security system. Worked perfectly for me over 60 feet or so of Cat5 cable!

5 out of 5 eggsWorks perfectly, but USB 1.1 only

Pros: I purchased one of these and, using standard CAT-5 cable, connected my Treo-750 cellphone 100 feet away as a tethered cellphone modem -- worked perfectly with both tethering and sync functions! I honestly didn't expect the USB power to be sufficient to charge the battery, but was surprised to find that it also charges the phone without problem just as well as if the phone were connected via a 6ft USB cable. My HTC-8525 tethers, syncs and charges perfectly 100 ft away also. The first worked so well that I bought a second to control my Canon EOS Rebel XTi DSLR camera, and it also works perfectly 100 ft away via CAT-5 cable.

Cons: Doesn't support USB 2.0, but that's clearly listed in the specs.

Other Thoughts: Great design! I've had zero problems connecting my phones and camera 100 feet away. Perfectly reliable connection.

5 out of 5 eggsRight on

Pros: It works. It may just be USB 1.1 but it works fine for old USB webcams for cheap security systems.

Cons: Nothing.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat product for Logitech Cams; Highly recommend it!

Pros: Worked right out of the box with all of my webcams. Just plug in and go. Have never had any loss of connection even with the unit outdoors in a sealed enclosure. I thought heat might affect it's performance but it works like a champ. Great product and recommend it. I will be buying more of these in the future. Also, I did a search on the internet for the best price and NewEgg has it.

Cons: No cons.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great product. Works right out of the box. Easy to set up and use.

Cons: Not USB 2.0. Webcam stops working once in a while (but not often) and needs to be unplugged and plugged back in to work. Never had this problem before, but I can live with it.

Other Thoughts: I own 3 of these and love them. The price is OK, definitely cheaper than others and it's pretty reliable.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works Great right out of box. Pluged into computer - pluged in cat5e wire to both dongles and then plugged usb webcam to the distal dongle. - Fired right up! I was concerned about running that voltage over 150 ft - but cam works fine and still lights up the LED's on the webcam with that distance. Have had it running (outside)for 5-6 months of winter in KY.

Cons: None for my applications - Running webcam outside.

Other Thoughts: This is expensive for USB 1.1 extension - but it is cheaper than any other I have found - All of which only run USB 1.1 over cat5e wire. (maybe there are others that will - but not for this low of a price).
