5 out of 5 eggsit works

Pros: its hard to mess up a cable, and this cable to me is flawless. so I have no complaints used in a recent system build. easy to work with and route

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: whish it was a little shorter this cable dose wonders for air flow as I was never a fan of the older flat cables

3 out of 5 eggsToo stiff - Wires unprotected

Pros: It occupies less space than the ribbon. It has the pulling tabs at the connectors labelled board, slave, master. It costs $4.5. No more pros.

Cons: My full tower has a back plate with holes to route cables outside the main computer space. This cable is too stiff to get out and in again. Moreover, the plastic around the connectors is so big that I doubt it would fit in there. It also pushes, pulls and bends the little wires too much. All the little 40 wires (or 80? what for 80?) are cotton-insulated, and get compressed and pull this way and the other when the cable moves. No protection there. After 15min of trial some were getting pull out the bundle. This happens in 4 places along the cable. I don't think this cable is safe, so it goes to the shelf, not to my pc. I gave it 3 eggs because it might serve some other people with less crowded cases. But I think I found a better way good for anybody's pc. See below.

Other Thoughts: I wish I had found in the web this other "solution" for modifying the original ribbon. The only solutions there involved splicing the wires one from the other with a knife, with the possible danger to the wires or their insulation. On top of that apparently one needs to splice between specific number of wires. After looking from this cable to the old ribbon and back for a while, I got this idea: I simply folded the ribbon in the form of a cylinder (or helix?). One can use a pencil to fold over as a guidance. The resulting "round cable" is much shorter, which in my case it was a bonus. I did not move it outside the case; it got reduced from 18" to something close to 10" and it's not bigger in diameter than this product, a little more than 1/2" all along (except the 1" when folding above the slave connector). It's much flexible and lighter than this cable. And it should not produce more interference than just dumping the whole ribbon in an empty bay. I'll report on how it worked later.

4 out of 5 eggsNice

Pros: Clean looking and does the job. The price is right.

Cons: The PVC sleeve is very stiff in the short length between the primary and slave connectors. I was able to compensate, but I agree that if it were a ribbon it would be a perfect cable.
