Nice cable
- Pros: Looks great! I hate the way regular IDE cables clutter up a case.
- Cons: none
Grounding Wire Danger!
- Pros: Sleek and stylish; great for air flow.
- Cons: Grounding wire is short and can do more harm than good.
- Other Thoughts: Due to the ground wires being short, they can typically only be attached to a nearby hard drive bay by screwing them into an open hole.
WARNING: Never attatch the grounding wire to a hard drive!
The grounding wire seems to generate a large amount of heat. There also seems to be some electrical issues related to the grounding wire, as some shorting of hardware may occur if touched directly.
will use these from now on
- Pros: much easier to work with than old style ribbons, takes up much less space, which means better system cooling, looks much better than ribbon style IDE.
- Cons: not very flexible, plastic end sleeves slide up the cable when making angled connections, covering material is conductive.
- Other Thoughts: I would much rather use this than the old style any day, simply because of asthetic reasons. Also, if you have any worry about something disconnecting and contacting this cable, simply use the ground wire that is attached to the end of the cable. Attach it to a screw on your power supply ONLY!
