4 out of 5 eggsFinally got it to work.

Pros: Got it to work eventually and so far so good.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I was dumb and saw jumpers on the rear of my current SATA HDD. Thinking I was suppose to set it to master and the old one to slave I moved the jumper. Turns out SATA do not deal with master/slave and the jumpers on the back of my western digital HDD were more advanced then my tech skills. Had a scare for awhile when the computer would not turn on.

Lesson = SATA do not have master/slave jumpers. Leave them alone.

5 out of 5 eggsSerial ATA Port to IDE Device

Pros: When connected correctly it Works well

Cons: Your power supply must have a small type of floppy drive power connector to supply power to the converter. Mine did so I had no problem there. Purchasers should check this before buying.
Also worth mentioning is that if your motherboard has both master and Slave SATA ports as mine did, you have to be sure and connect it to a Master SATA port. Mine wouldn't work when connected to the Slave SATA port

5 out of 5 eggsWorked the first time

Pros: Worked like a champ the first time I put it in...with the jumper set to MASTER.

Cons: Seems a little flimsy, a bit cheap, but that's OK.

Other Thoughts: I have a dual layer DVD burner that I spent 40 bux on, didn't want to spend another $35 just to replace it. This did the trick.

1 out of 5 eggsCheap but cheaply made

Pros: None as of yet. Cannot get it to work with my IDE DVD drive.

Cons: Cannot get it to work with my IDE DVD drive. As noted by others you'll need a "Y" power connector with both a large and small power plug. The connection to the ide interface is loose and can easily be bumped out of place / disconnected. The seems to be no manufacturer support included in the documentation.

4 out of 5 eggsNot for HotSwapping

Pros: It does work well. I benchmarked a PATA 133 drive, Native, USB 2.0 adapter, & with this adapter. The drive runs at full native speed. This is about twice as fast as USB 2.0

Cons: It uses a Berg type 3.5" Floppy power connector. Feel lucky if you have one of these on your power supply, let alone multiples. Should have the standard Molex 8981 connector, or come with an adapter.

Does not support HotSwapping on my WinXP Pro system (only one I tested it on). You can hot mount a drive but it does not fully dismount.

I also use a Themaltake Sata Docking Station via Sata. It HotSwaps just fine.

Other Thoughts: It would probably work great if it were always connected in a system. Just doesn't cut it for HotSwapping and that is what I bought it for.

4 out of 5 eggsDoes its job

Pros: It works and does what it is supposed to do. I installed mine easily and I had no troubles with the Bios or OS. This converter looks better than many of the others on the market so it won't look cruddy if visible in your box

Cons: Fit may be a little loose on some drives. Keep the available interior space of your case in mind. With this sticking out your drive may end up being a tight fit.

Other Thoughts: This thing works. Perhaps a model that can be mounted at an angle would be helpful for some applications.
