Cons: A surge consists of a current, voltage and time component. MOV based surge protectors operate only on the voltage component before they begin to divert the surge. It's hoped that a low impedance return path is available to the surge back to the mains panel and from there to Earth Ground. The problem is that often times the return path is high impedance and the surge seeks an alternate route in many cases through the surge protector we purchased to prevent the surge in the first place.

All-in-one MOV based surge protectors (those with coaxial, phone and/or network connections) share a common ground and a surge unable to make it back to the mains panel can damage whatever is connected to these all in one surge protectors. Often times the damage may be on a modem, router USB/HDMI port and the SPD is still working as far as we know. By extension any Type 3 SPD that diverts the surge to the Neutral and/or Ground can cause these problems.

In my case it resulted in a loss of HDMI ports. The protector also had broken MOV's inside.

Other Thoughts: There is now evidence that sharing a ground in all-in-one surge protectors may not be such a good idea. Google search the title of my review for more information. Manufactures of MOV based surge protection that divert the surge warn that without a good earth ground, the protector they are selling will not work. The responsibility for that earth ground is on the owner. The ground is good for electrical faults for 50/60 Hz electricity and for Whole House Type 1 or Type 2 SPD's at the service entrance but for surges in the house that appear on Type 3 SPDs like this one, all bets are off. Most of the time the surge ends up in the very electronics we're trying to protect.

There are other Type 3 SPD technologies that are more costlier but deal with the surge by slowing it down in real time ensuring a low impedance return path.

Cons: Died after 3 1/2 months usage

Pros: The product is solid and as described. I bought 3 of them and they are working as expected. Well designed so even big power adapters fit.

Cons: The one (and pretty substantial) flaw I found with this surge protector is that it only supports 10/100 mbit ethernet. 1gbit is pretty common by today's standards, and it doesn't say anywhere on the box that this product does not support gigabit ethernet connections. This is a huge disappointment as I specifically bought this product due to the added ethernet port and protection. To have my home network slowed down to 100mbit is a huge disappointment.

Other Thoughts: Since I bought this product specifically for the ethernet protection expecting CAT6 / 1gbit ethernet to work I would not buy this product again. Other than that it is a solid product.

Pros: Number of outlets, Ethernet/ Coax connectivity, extended cord length.

Cons: The Ethernet ports are malfunctioning. It cuts out my internet connectivity. Not to mention that Newegg's specs for this product are a tad off. It is a 4156 Joules Surge Protector.

Other Thoughts: Overall, I like the product. Now if I can only find one that works in its entirety.

Pros: Protects from surges. It works.

Cons: Maybe a tad bit to long, but I picked it just incase I need something longer than 10 feet sometime down the line. but that's not really a con.

Pros: Great cable length and thickness. Plenty of room between outlets. Was debating between this and the 8ft/6ft. Glad I have the extra cable length.

Pros: Does what it's supposed to. I'm running 4 of these for all my gear.

Cons: One egg penalty for the ethernet ports not supporting gigabit

Pros: Works well.

Cons: "safety" outlet blockers are a bit cheap. Some of them have snapped off. Not hard to snap them back in in most instances.

The MOVs in the product are not well matched to 120V, but that isn't too uncommon for consumer level power strips.

Then again, I think the price on these has gone up as well since I bought it.
