5 out of 5 eggsMy new favorite surge protector/power strip

Pros: Well built, simple yet super functional design, plug 8 electronics devices into a power strip that has 8 outlets

Cons: I didn't buy it at Newegg, so I ended up paying more...

Other Thoughts: I should have known not to buy it at a box store. As soon as I got this wonderful piece of hardware set up, I looked on Newegg to see how much they were selling it for. Even with shipping, I almost paid double at a box store.

So, other than the price I paid elsewhere, this power strip/surge protector is incredible. The 4 outlets on the side are spaced far enough apart for most large ac adapters and the outlets grip the prongs of the adapters well enough so even though the adapters are upside down, I am not at all worried about them falling off. Each outlet has sliders on them to close any hot and neutral lines that are not in use.

This design is simple, but oh so functional. With the price, $200,000 insurance on each one, and the functional design, I am sure I will be replacing all of my surge protectors over the next year with these.

5 out of 5 eggsElegant, innovative solution to AC adapters

Pros: This is another innovative solution to the problem of powering computers with peripherals that require AC adapters (also look at the Tripp Lite TLP707TEL and BELKIN BZ111200-06). You get 4 outlets for bulky AC adapters on the side (so the AC adapters stick up veritcally, rather than out horizaontally) and the other power cords go up vertically as well.

Cons: The "foot" of the power strip is not as wide as a bulky AC adapters, so they may stick out farther than you think, though that's not really the fault of the power strip.

The power switch is a bit awkwardly located if you're trying to put this inside a rack or box.

Other Thoughts: Not all AC adapters will fit nicely here. In particular, the cell phone makers seem to be working overtime creating strangely shaped adapters. The one for my wife's Nokia extends to the right rather than down, so it tends to take up two outlets with fancy powerstrips like this, whereas it's fine with an old style one that lines the outlets up vertically (i'd call these horizontal).

I'm a bit obsessed with power strips and UPSes, so I'm reviewing several of these that I've bought (I've got several computers and and monitors to plug in (they use conventional power cords), and associated DSL modemes, wireless access points, modems, printers (all have bulky AC adapters), not to mention home theaters, etc. so I've been exploring power strips for awhile.
