The Belkin Conserve Smart AV Auto-Off surge protector lets you control the power of your whole entertainment system with the push of a button--your TV's power button. The green colored Master Outlet senses whether your TV is on or off and automatically controls power to up to five peripheral outlets for your AV components, while two always-on outlets stay on for devices that need continuous power. When your TV is turned off, the power to the AV components goes off too, including standby power, so no energy is wasted.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well

Pros: I have this hooked up to my computer with the my monitor and it has been working well. I wanted a surge protector anyway so forking over the extra $10 - $20 for one that saved on electricity wasn't too bad, at least for seeing how well I liked the thing. It has worked fine for the past week, and if something goes wrong I will be sure to update

Cons: Well, for my usage on a computer there aren't too many peripherals that I would use in tandem with it, so I would rather have the number of "always on" and "master-controlled" plugs reversed, and it would be nice if they made a model that was like that. Instead I just use a multi-plug extension cord on one of the "always on" plugs to plug in my modem and router.

Other Thoughts: I could use this in tandem with my computer more if I had a multiple monitor set-up, a printer, or if this was the only computer in the house that used the internet so my modem and router could get a rest.

5 out of 5 eggsIntelligent

Pros: I just ordered my second unit. The first I bought from the local hardware store for considerably more $$.

My first setup, installed TV into main plug, and all accessories (Blu-ray, stereo, x-box, ps3, cable). When I turn off the TV, all devices De-energize as well. Leaves two open receptacles for items you don't want to turn off i.e.; phone charger or computer.

Cons: only 8 outlets. Cost is still too high even at $29.99. All this does is De-energize a continuous circuit, nothing super complex about it.

Other Thoughts: helps to stop vampire drain on energy utilizing systems. Which in turn helps your electric bill and the environment.
