Pros: Great cable works very reliably

Cons: You can have issues with the driver install sometime, just have to manually update drivers and point to cd if it happens

Pros: Works Out of Blister Package on my work machine (Win7 Pro x64) my personal machines (Linux), a Win8 Tablet w/ USB OTG adatper and even had to plug it into a server (MS 2k8 R2 x64) because I did not want to stand in my server room when the temp is <60!

I love having the status LED. Very useful if you are attempting to troubleshoot a BAUD rate or other cause of a console not displaying while attempting access.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I use this more frequently than I care to acknowledge. There is still a wealth of devices that need this to access & configure.

I have used it on devices ranging from Cisco to Siemens.

Some times I wish laptops still had RS232/COM/Console ports! But then I remember how wide that 9 pin port was and how much I appreciate my thin machines.

Pros: It works fine on most computers.

Cons: On my laptop, I'm running 64-bit Windows 7. I get BSOD often. I have read review from 2010 with this issue. I have talked with Tech Support, and they swear that it's not their problem, but they can't tell me what the problem is. They said that they were going to come out with new drivers to fix this issue years ago. Don't count on it. Terrible product. Terrible Tech Support. Worthless.

Pros: works fine with Windows 7

Cons: this adaptor does not have a driver for Windows 8 and if used with ATEN driver, it crashes Windows 8!

Pros: drivers are simple and device is simple

Cons: will cause windows 7 to bsod within 10-20 minutes of use.

Pros: Don't have any because this device is essentially useless for my purposes.

Cons: Did not work properly on Windows 7 64-bit. I upgraded my drivers to the lastest version that IOgear has posted on their website. Still getting blue screens. Also, when using to console into equipment, the device output will occasionally freeze, and I have to restart the session.

Other Thoughts: The drivers have been updated by IO Gear - I've not had any BSOD issues on Win 7 with these drivers.

Other Thoughts: to retread: Yea the nuts on the adapter as apposed to screws make it work with a male to female extension cable...which most people tend to use one with these adapters since these adapters are kinda short for practical use without an extension....:)

Other Thoughts: I have done a comparison on a lot of USB to serial devices and this is the best I've found. I even did static electricity shock tests (necessary for our instruments to pass UL) and this recovered nicely (robust--needed to replug the device a few times, but then, so will your USB drive if you shock it enough. Some of the others caused blue screens). Highly recommended.

Pros: Until it crashes it works great.

Cons: Iogear has still not released an updated driver, and their current version causes a BSOD in Windows 7 as described by the previous reviewer. I contacted Iogear support, and the email response I received said that there was no problem with Windows 7 and their product is fully compatible. Obviously not.

Other Thoughts: I can't recommend this (or even use it) until they fix their driver, which they now deny is an issue.
