4 out of 5 eggsHit or miss.

Pros: Able to use LPT Centronics equipment via USB port.

Cons: Not always compatible. I have found this issue to be true with all legacy to USB devices. This unit works on some printers and not with others.

Other Thoughts: The fact that it does not always seem to be compatible is not an issue that I put on this unit. I have found that these USB to Centronics as well as the USB to RS-232 are all like this. Get two different brands and one will work and the other won't but get a different end device and they swap status.

1 out of 5 eggsIOGEAR Parallel to USB cable

Pros: None.

Cons: Doesn't work. Tech support at Iogear is pretty thin. Per IOGEAR this cable will not work with Windows 7 and if it does your in luck?

Other Thoughts: New Egg might want to list compatable operating systems for it's merchandise.

1 out of 5 eggsDoesn't do the job

Pros: None - couldn't get it to work.

Cons: Didn't work - tried everything, and even called tech support. After hours on the phone they concluded that maybe it didn't work with my printer. I tried it with an HP Laserjet 2100, and an HP Laserjet 4000.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks with HP DeskJet 612C

Pros: Works with my really old HP DeskJet 612C. It will print once the correct installation is completed.

Cons: Printer installation not very intuitive.

Other Thoughts: It's not exactly plug-and-play. When you add the printer, you have to go in, uncheck automatically detect plug-and-play printer, and say you'd like to connect to virtual USB print port rather than LPT1, then pick your printer driver. Your old printer will print via the USB port, though.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks with Apple Airport Extreme

Pros: This cable enabled me to connect my old HP LaserJet 5MP directly to my Airport Extreme. Now I can print from both my mac and pc laptop wirelessly. It was plug-and-play - worked first try!

Cons: None yet

3 out of 5 eggsDid not work with MFC HP printer

Pros: Nice design. Should do the job nicely under restricted conditions.

Cons: I planned to use this on an older HP Multifunction printer which only had LPT1 connector. After connecting to new computer with Windows XP, it did NOT find the printer. Documentation said no drivers were required!? A call to IOGEAR tech support turned up limitation that it would NOT work with multifuncion printers!?

Other Thoughts: Had high hopes for product usuage; wish in retrospect that the specificaions were clearer on uses with MFC printers.

3 out of 5 eggsdidn't work

Pros: Easy install.

Cons: Didn't work with my HP laserjet printer

Other Thoughts: IOGear didn't offer good tech support. After second phone call they said it might not be compatible and they didn't have a list stating which printers were. Newegg of course was awsome with there return

5 out of 5 eggsUSB to IEEE-1284

Pros: Two day delivery and PNP worked right out of the box. HP LJ5P to USB on XP Acer (Newegg) laptop so painless my wife put it together.

Cons: A little more expensive than others but absolutely no grief. You get what you pay for!

Other Thoughts: Newegg already has my business and I'm still impressed!

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect

Pros: Works perfectly. No drivers needed. I plugged my HP Laserjet 6MP into an Apple Airport Express and now have a shared printer for both Mac and Windows (need to install Bonjour for Windows for this to work).

Cons: None
