2 out of 5 eggsDone in by cheap power switch

Pros: Sturdy case, does it's job

Cons: Cheap plastic power switch

Other Thoughts: The red plastic illuminated rocker power switch has a little pivot point on each side. These are flimsy and break easily if you use the power switch frequently, rendering the entire unit useless. Monster would not replace the switch or the unit.

2 out of 5 eggsUnit didn't protect against surge

Pros: Color coded for easy identification. Looks cool. Gives clean power like the product states.

Cons: Didn't protect against a surge!

Other Thoughts: I had a lightning strike near my house and this power unit failed. All my electronic equipment was toast when connected to this thing.

5 out of 5 eggsHuge Audio/Video Upgrade

Pros: -Protects against surges
-Cleans power (I'll get to this in a minute)
-Looks beastly

Cons: None. Spendy but worth every penny.

Other Thoughts: I am a huge audiophile. I am running a 5.1 system with MK speakers, a Denon Receiver, and an HP projector for movies and vids. This product is, well, amazing. I never realized how dirty my power must be. As soon as I hooked all of my audio and video up to it and turned it on, I noticed an enormous difference in sound quality. There is absolutely no distortion or buzz any more at higher volumes, and everything just sounds 10 times better at any volume. Highly recommended to any one looking to clean up the sound and picture of their home theatre.

5 out of 5 eggsNot JUST a pwr Strip

Pros: This unit is not only a power strip. its a Power cleaner. yes, power can get dirty, and affect the performance of your computer/home theater. Monster has many stages of power cleaners, and the stage 2 (this unit) works very well when the correct plugs are in the correct places. analog items (VCR/Tape player) connect to the Analog side, and Digital (DVD/CD/Blu-Ray) into the digital plugs. there is a demo that explains the difference on monster cable's web page. Imagine drinking unfiltered water. well, unfiltered power is about the same for the performance of your equipment.

Cons: price. weight. price... lol

Other Thoughts: Many other competitors try to make power cleaners and do a fair job. Monster does the best. from stage 3 and up you will see the BIGGEST gains

4 out of 5 eggsUsed to work at Circuit City

Pros: Great at what it does, lots of outlets, high quality.

Cons: Price, I guess. You get what you pay for.

Other Thoughts: To the guy before me, usually when your surge protector fries, it has protected you from a surge. That isn't covered under the warranty, because this means it has done its job, and what it was designed to do. There's no way it could absorb a large surge and continue to work, therefore it has to disconnect all your items from the power and take the brunt of it itself.

Nothing's going to work after that, you should be happy you lost the strip and not your PC.

3 out of 5 eggsDONT BUY THIS THING!

Pros: boasts a great warranty aganst failure, has the led readout for voltage and load (useful if your using this strip on your PC...thats one of the things that origonally sold me on thie unit), surge suppression for just about anything you want to hook up to it.

Cons: price...I paid $225 for this strip @ circuit city about 2 years ago, I see the egg has it now considerablly cheaper...the other night it died due to a power failure, I woke up in the middle of the night to the smell of smoke and an annoying tone that required me to unplug the strip to shut it up, and to beat it all the breaker dident even trip! top it off, circuit city wouldent even talk to me about replacement or anything and this thing had a lifetime warranty (when I bought this may have backed out on that deal now) I am left to monsters mercy if i want any sort of replacement(new egg will probablly tell you the same thing if this unit fails)...I will repost a follow up with my results as I intend to send this back to monster to see if they will do anything about $225 for a power strip you would think they would replace it...dunno...we will see.

Other Thoughts: not spend this much money on a power strip...there are strips out there just as good for the cost of the tax alone on this unit...I hate to be negative on new eggs website regarding anything they sell, because I have no negative feelings toward the egg whatsoever(good outfit to do buisness with)...but as many reviews as I have read concerning merchandise at the egg, that has really helped me with purchasing decisions, I feel it is my duty to warn people about this monster unit
