5 out of 5 eggsBuying a second one

Pros: I'm a tech and I basically wore out my first one. I used it 100's of times. It was always fairly consistent provided the drive you're using isn't completely shot. Has made me the hero recovering users data countless times. I finally made one mistake though. I left the SATA cable connected and put it back in my LT bad and it broke the connector. I can still use it for IDE but who has IDE any more... So I'm here to buy another one. The reviewer who complained about frying a HD by using a longer SATA cable doesn't know what he's doing.. Smoke was a product of doing something wrong or bad cable. Not the adaptor.

Cons: SATA cable could be longer.

1 out of 5 eggsBAD - Hard Drive and USB port KILLER

Pros: Works when SATA cable isn't lost.

Cons: HORRIBLE.
The 4 inch cable falls out contently. Why wasn't this engineered to STAY ON all the time.
I lost the SATA cable and then substituted it with a 12 inch SATA for a desktop and soon found out that was a very bad idea because it KILLED A BRAND NEW HARD DRIVE. No joke I could smell the smoke./
.
I fix laptops and desktops as a side job and I'm very experienced and good at it.

Other Thoughts: Super glue the SATA cable to the USB cord.
Tape the SATA cable to the USB cord if you don't super glue but still I would recommend only a little super glue on the sides to perminantly attach the SATA cable.
.
Be careful not to super glue the inside connectors of the SATA cable on either end.

5 out of 5 eggsstill works after many years

Pros: I got one of these many years ago to do some HD repairs and never would have thought I'd still be using it to this day. Today I was on newegg's site looking for yet another hard drive to fix a customers desktop and found the ad for this pop up and thought you know I need to tell the newegg folks how happy I am with product.

Cons: Wish the sata wire was a little longer.

Other Thoughts: I make all the sata/power connections 1st, than turn on the power to the drive, than plug in to the usb port. windows finds it and away you go.

5 out of 5 eggsIDE/SATA adaprter

Pros: I had a few old HD's laying around and wanted to pull media and files off of them but all my equip had SATA and the old drives were IDE. Connecters worked great and drive booted right up with no issue after being in storage for up to 4 years

Cons: drivers that came with it were for windows 98

Other Thoughts: Worked great, just like I needed it to

5 out of 5 eggsHandy Tool

Pros: I'm on Windows XP Pro & it was plug and play.
Worked on SATA and IDE with out problems on multiple brands of hard drives.
Came with 2 rubber hard drive cases to protect against shorts when using. Standard PC/Laptop sizes.
Very handy tool to have.

Cons: No cons so far.
If I had to be picky, the power pack is a little heavy & in the way where it's placed. Having the power pack on the plug might be better, would get it out of the way.

Other Thoughts: I'm happy so far, everything was in the box & it worked with just plug & play.

5 out of 5 eggsA very good investment!

Pros: Has yet to fail me. It has been a boon fixing other peoples systems.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Keep the cables together and you wont have problems. Trying to find them in a drawer full of other cables is a nightmare.

1 out of 5 eggsRosewill RCW-608 USB2.0 Adapter IDE/SATA

Pros: when it works it works just fine.

Cons: After Using this a few times the Power Adapter stopped working!
Some Power adapters on this model, RCW-608 are known to be defective from the reviews I have read. I occasional use this device so I did not find out about this problem until after the 1 year Warranty had expired.

Other Thoughts: Warranty expired for a defective power adapter.
Buy a different model other then this one (RCW-608). You have been warned!
