5 out of 5 eggsPERFECT ADAPTOR

Pros: Once you make sure you have a PATA [25 pin] vs. SATA [32 pin] female printer port, this is the way to go. My HP LaserJet 6P is now up and running again after having to replace my PC.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: When you have equipment which is reliable, you don't want to give it up for a lesser replacement. I LOVE my LaserJet 6P.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as designed

Pros: Low cost, simple to use, worked perfectly first time.

Cons: None whatsoever.

Other Thoughts: I needed to use a Canon BJC-80 printer (parallel port only) with my Dell Inspiron 1750 laptop (no parallel port) running Linux Mint 12. Plugged the printer into power, a parallel cable in the female end of the adapter, and plugged the adapter into an open USB port.

The printer was instantly recognized, literally before I realized it, and I was printing a document less than one minute after I plugged it in, and most of that time was me trying to verify the printer was on the list of available printers and opening the PDF to print.

If you have trouble with this adapter, you aren't smart enough to own a computer anyways. Go back to paper and pencil.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Unit!!

Pros: The first PCs we built to spec for a client was the first motherboards that we used with no old school DB25 printer ports and 32 out of 46 printers they had were DB25 only.
This was a new client to us and they faxed us the requirements and how and what motherboards, cpus and harddrives they wanted, we were not told of the printer issue.
I ordered 6 of these on the first order as I have not had the best of luck with many of this type of adapters in the past.
Too my surprise, these worked in a instant and didn't even need the driver cd at all, all the desktops were Win 7 and in less than 1 minute after pluging the units in we were printing.
We have used over 100 of these in the last couple of years and have yet had one to go bad or refuse to wotk with any of the printers that we have used with it.

Cons: none in any manner

Other Thoughts: Once in awhile we find a neat little item that if it works is a real life saver and this little item fits the bill. We have mostly used HP laserjets and inkjets, brother laserjets and a couple of Kodak printers with these and no problems to date.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for Linux

Pros: It works

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: All I had to do is plug this in. I have an old HP Laserjet 4 plus and when I bought a new MB it didn't come with parallel port. I got this and plugged it in and went to cups to search for printer and cups found the printer right away as a usb printer. No drivers needed. Works fantastic on Linux.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as it should

Pros: Plugs in quickly and easily. No other setup needed.

Cons: Slow shipping (I used free shipping and it took close to 20 days), but no cons for the cable itself.

5 out of 5 eggsNew life for work horse legacy printers

Pros: Many customers are in love with their work horse parallel printers. Newer PCs do not come with legacy parallel ports, nor should they. The love of a quality product that has served for years and shows no sign stopping should not be discounted. If it is not time for the landfill this product seamlessly provides usb connectivity. This product is lean, mean and green.

Cons: I see no possible problems. No moving parts & quality construction.

1 out of 5 eggsDid not work for me

Pros: Price

Cons: Didn't work. Windows displayed an error connecting the adapter. Tried it on several PCs all the same. Driver disk had Windows 98 drivers on it. What is the point? I returned it on principle, even though return postage cost nearly as much as the adapter. I went with a more reputable vendor. Stay away from this junk.

5 out of 5 eggsA Gold Award Winner In My Book

Pros: We had one client that upgraded 23 pcs and the systems we built did not have a printer port (a small "oh no") on my part..Started to order up a few PCI add on cards, but since we have had good service out of all Rosewill items we have purchased to date, I decided to try these. Ordered 2 to start with just in case our luck was about to run out in full and tried them on several PCs all with HP laser printers of a wide variety of models some going back 10 years or so and they preformed flawless every single time and all pcs were on Win7 and all drivers loaded up and was printing in less than 15 minutes. The 15 minute wait for some was the older printers and it took windows a couple of minutes to go online and find the drivers and download and install. A couple days later I placed a order for 25 or so. Never leave the shop anymore without 1 or 2 in the car at the ready.

Cons: None, I'd smack myself if I even thought of a bad thought about these little gems.

5 out of 5 eggsFollow-up

Pros: Does what it's supposed to do, inexpensive solution to resurrecting older printers.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Just a quick follow-up to my review from 12/27/11 which appears just below: First, sorry for the typo, I have this connected to an HP 1100a LaserJet. Second, I notice a lot of people saying they're having problems with Win7 64. That's what I'm using, and have had no problems whatsoever, did not even need the driver disk included.

5 out of 5 eggsEven better than hoped for

Pros: Plug it in and it works. Great price for bringing new life to old printers.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I picked up an old HP 100 laser printer, still a very good unit (especially with the scan/copy attachment) that someone was throwing away. Plugged this cable in and Win7 installed a driver for it before I even hooked the other end to the printer. As soon as I turned on the printer Win7 recognized it installed that driver, and I was done. $10 and 2 minutes, absolutely painless, never even used the CD that came with it. And of course NewEgg's service was up to it's usual fantastic standards. Definitely a good buy if you have an old printer lying around that's too valuable to throw away.
