4 out of 5 eggsWell, I thought it would verk.....

Pros: Good price.

Cons: Didn't work for my application. Can't give 5 eggs, but then again may not be the cables fault so can't blast it.

Other Thoughts: I bought this cable having no eSATA connectors on my motherboard to connect my Thermaltake USB/eSata docking station. I figured I would just plug the male eSATA end into the eSATA female of the docking station, and then the sata end into an available slot on the motherboard and it would work. I was wrong. Well, I have a new motherboard on order, again no eSATA so I will try it on that board and see how it works.

Cons: Not a Straight pin-out (1-1)

Other Thoughts: never assume and always ask questions

5 out of 5 eggsDoes exactly what it's supposed to do

Pros: Its a cable.

Which goes from eSATA to SATA. Does just that.

Seems to be standard cable quality, at a standard cable price. Go figure.

Performance seems to be about the same as eSATA, as expected.

Cons: No problems so far.

Other Thoughts: Got this cable so that eSATA hard drives can be connected to motherboard SATA ports.

4 out of 5 eggseSATA cable

Pros: Thin and somewhat flexible (not what I would call "limp" however). Locking tab on SATA end.

Cons: Printed flat gold plated contacts that are usually not quite as reliable as formed contacts. Could have a bit more metal reinforcement around the connector.

Other Thoughts: I bought one each of two similar cables Bytecc Item #: N82E16812270167 and Rosewill Item #: N82E16812119251. Both ~3' long, 26AWG, 80C, UL-listed, 30V. Both work in my application. The Rosewill (it's actually marked "Lian Feng") is relatively thin and flexible compared to the Bytecc that is quite a bit thicker and stiffer. Since the wire gauge is the same, this is plastic and/or shielding. I didn't cut them apart. The Bytecc has more metal around the SATA end of the cable -- it looks like it ought to tolerate rougher handling than the Rosewill, along with being somewhat better shielded. However, the Rosewill has a locking clamp that the Bytecc lacks. The eSATA ends are very similar. Neither has a locking tab, because that connector does not support one. The Bytecc has formed metal contact fingers that appear to offer better contact reliability than the flat "printed" fingers in the Rosewill. Overall, I think it's a tossup. Each has its advantages, but I'd probably choose the Rosewill due to the locking tab on the SATA end and its greater flexibility.

5 out of 5 eggsquick transfer cool drive

Pros: Has an eStata and USB connectors. eSata transfers are very fast , I've tested at over 100MB/s. SMART reports that
the drive temp hasn't been over 33C in the week or so I've owned it ( room temp at around 22C-25C. Includes the cables and screws

Cons: KInd of big, fan can be heard , but still quieter than my PC. Kind of ugly, and no provsions for stacking them ( I have 2 of these)

Other Thoughts: I have two, one has been running non-stop for over 12,000 hours without a failure.

3 out of 5 eggsRosewill eSATA to SATA

Pros: This cable worked fine for the first few months.
The cable itself is bulky and not easy to adjust with out one of the ends -eSATA or SATA- releasing from its port.
This may explain why a piece of the SATA end broke off and may not stay connected to the SATA hard drive without being disconnected.
At the very best I would give this a 3 Star rating, and that's being generous.
-John

Cons: Bulky cable with ends that will not stay connected.

Other Thoughts: If the ends were constructed with more durability to compensate for such a bulky cable it might be a 4 or even 5 Star.
