1 out of 5 eggsDoesn't work with all USB 3

Pros: Long

Cons: Got two of these cables so that I could move an external Seagate 1T USB3 drive off the top of the system. Also got one for a friend's Seagate. Tried both cables and the Seagates didn't work with this cables, wouldn't power up or would constantly cycle trying to connect to the computers. Also tried the cables on an computer I have, same results. All connection attempts were from the rear connectors on the boards. Removing this cable and plugging in HD's they connected with no problems. After doing this I tried using a Rosewill USB 3.0 external case (RX100-PU3-25B) with a 320gb hd in it. Still no luck getting it to connect to any computer in a USB 3 port. Now to use the Buffalo USB 2.0 external hd I have and give it a try. No problems there, connected just fine. So next grab a few usb flash drives, both 2.0 and 3.0 flavors, and give them a shot. No problems connecting there either, all connected. So it seems that this cable can't handle the external USB 3 hd's well at all as none of the 3 drives I tried would connect or power up.

Other Thoughts: Would not recommend if you want to use this for a Seagate ext USB3 hd or if using the Rosewill USB3 RX100-PU3-25B case.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Cable

Pros: The cable is physiclly exactly ehat i expected and seems high quality. Speed is the main concern for me when i was ordering this there would be no point in having an extionsion cable if it would force the devices to operate at a lower speed. I benchmarked the write speed of a usb 3 thumb drive use crystal disk on the default settings. The rating was 111 MB/s which is close to the limit of what the dirve can do . in other words there was no slowdown associated with the cable. The only important thing i cant tell you about is long term durability since i just got it.

Cons: does not turn lead to gold

5 out of 5 eggsQuality Cable!

Pros: Thick, sturdy cable. Length is perfect. USB3.0 works great.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Had originally bought 2 of these:

Nippon Labs Black 15 ft. USB cable A/Male to A/Female extension 15ft USB cable Model USB-15-MF-BK 15 feet (Item N82E16812816075)

Those were absolute garbage. They didn't recognize any device and are a waste of money. Must be a bad batch as the recent reviews seem to indicate that the cables being shipped recently are worthless.

These cables, on the other hand, are worth every cent I paid. Perfect length, thick & sturdy, and they work flawlessly. I've had no issues with any device (USB2 or USB3) using this cable.

The Nippon Labs cables above

4 out of 5 eggsNice

Pros: Very nice cable that allows a lot of access to extra room. I use it on my external 3.0 HD and it allows me to put it on my desk and not on top of my computer. a major plus

Cons: None that I have found

5 out of 5 eggsVery handy

Pros: This is a very handy cable to have. I have mine from my (rear only) USB 3.0 ports to my desk top (i.e. physical desk top) and use it to plug in various USB 3.0 things without crawling around behind the desk.

Cons: None to speak of.

Other Thoughts: So far, works great.

1 out of 5 eggsUSB 2.0 Speeds

Pros: 1. The construction is good quality. The cable is extra thick with shielding. The two connectors are not gold plated.
2. Rosewill technical service is excellent. An English speaking technician is very knowledgeable on company products.
3. On sale for $2.99 with free shipping, this is a steal for a 3' USB 3.0 extension cable.
4. My order arrived in three days.
5. I use the cable extensions for my keyboard and mouse. They are great!

Cons: 1. The performance results are horrible. Test results show that USB 3.0 speed is equal to USB 2.0 when using the cable extension. The former is slightly faster but not by much - a 6% to 10% increase. These are barely noticeable. Surely, they are not the 10X theoretical speed increase that is hyped by false advertisements.
.
.
Transferring a large file, 1gb and larger . . . . . . . . . . . . USB 2.0 speed = 20.0 mb/s . . . . . USB 3.0 speed = 22.0 mb/s
.
Transferring several small files, 30mb and smaller. . . . . . USB 2.0 speed = 15.0 mb/s . . . . . USB 3.0 speed = 16.0 mb/s
.
.
2. The above results do not surprise me. In the Newegg website, half of the reviews by users reported similar results - you will get USB 2.0 speeds using the Rosewill cable.

Other Thoughts: Because the 50% Newegg reviews on the Rosewill USB 3.0 cables were positive and the prices were cheap, I took a chance and purchased four cables anyway. Although useless for transferring files on USB 3.0 flash drives, they work very well on my keyboard and mouse.
