5 out of 5 eggsGreat Cables!!

Pros: Shielded to prevent cross talk. Metal cable ends and clips. Very easy to route and you never guess about its "click" into the adapter /router.

Cons: NONE!

Other Thoughts: I picked up 4-10 MBps (not Mbps) when transferring files on the network. I also expect these cables to last and perform at a high level until we change to the next internal network topography.

4 out of 5 eggsFast and small

Pros: This is a study cable. The shielding adds weight and makes it harder to bend, which is a good thing.

The ends of the cable have great anti-tangle plugs… not sure how someone would manage to tangle a 3ft cable… but I’m confident tangling could happen in a very messy server rack.

Good price, but a little more money could double the length of the cable.

If you need a high performant ethernet cable, why not ‘splurge’ and spend another dollar or two for Cat7? That extra dollar might help you in the future when the router/cable box/switch is upgraded.

Tell your friends you have Cat7. They will think that you are cool if you don’t bother with the nitty gritty details of what Cat7 means in terms of real-world performance.

Cons: As many others have pointed out, this cable is overkill for typical usage. Network interface cards, routers, switches, other cabling can become bottlenecks and mitigate any gains from this cable. Many people don’t have full gigabyte speed. If the cable company only pushes 10’s of mb/s to your house, even 100’s, Cat7 will not ‘make the internet faster’.

Wiki says: “The Class F cable standard has been created to allow 10 Gigabit Ethernet over 100 m of copper cabling“. According to that, the Cat7 standard was created for much larger cables.

Other Thoughts: I will use mine between my router and cable box. That’s a short distance to span. But, Cat7 probably wouldn’t offer any more performance than Cat6.

This cable being short could be seen as good or bad! I don't know why others are hating on it.

It is bad because the devices must be very close. It is GOOD because the distance that the electricity has to traverse is smaller, meaning, theoretically, less latency. Cords that are too long get in the way and get tangled!

3 out of 5 eggsGreat quality, but impractical

Pros: Top of the line, shielded RJ-45 cable with high-quality metal connectors. CAT 7 cables are rated for 10 Gb/s over 100m lengths, which is quite impressive.

The price is very reasonable considering the build quality.

Cons: The 3ft length makes this cable largely impractical. I can't imagine very many uses for a CAT 7 cable of this length.

It's overkill for 99% of the home networks in operation today. Even the best consumer routers support Gigabit Ethernet at best, which maxes out at 1 Gb/s. In addition to that, most of the latest NIC's also max out at 1 Gb/s. Therefore, you are going to achieve the exact same performance with a CAT 5e or CAT 6 cable. The shielding is nice, but interference over a 3ft length is very rare...

Other Thoughts: Considering how cheap this cable is, I would say to go ahead and buy it if your in the market for a short cable to connect your cable\DSL modem to your wireless router. However, don't go out of your way for it. If you already have a CAT 5e or CAT 6 cable on hand, just utilize it and call it a day.

5 out of 5 eggsShorty

Pros: Excellent cable and performs well. This cable is exactly what it is said to be: A patch cable. If you are looking for a cable to reach across the room then this is not your cable. Spend 50 cents more and get the 7 foot cable. If you have a home or business network that runs more than one router of switch then this cable is designed to do just that and great for that task.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Do not purchase this cable to connect your computer to a router or switch unless you are sure that the distance between them is no more than 2 feet away, not three; there needs to be some slack. Most of all remember that this cable is supposed to be used as a patch cable, not a standalone cable. If you need additional footage to connect a cable from point A to B then this cable and a RJ45 Inline Coupler and the connection can be made.

5 out of 5 eggsThick well terminated Cat 7 Cable with metal housing

Pros: It’s a Ethernet cable. It’s thick, well made, metal terminals (standard for Cat6A-7) I did get speeds of 1Gigabit for sure. There isn't much more to say. Maybe if I worked for Monster Cable I could tell you about how this changed my life or something.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Newegg sent me this by mistake and asked me to review it. Though I don’t have a $15,000 10Gigabit router to test speeds 1.01Gb/sec to 10Gb/sec, it held true up to 1Gb/sec for sure.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect patch cable

Pros: 26AWG wire. Machine crimped. Relief boot is among the best I've seen.

This cable is a patch cord, plain and simple. If you do a lot of connecting/disconnecting on a patch panel, you might be interested in 50 of these simply because of the quality of construction. If you only disconnect/reconnect cables once every year or so, it may be wiser to make your own patch cables using Cat6/6a.

Cons: Not really a con, but it's a one-trick pony. At 3 ft length, it's only good for one thing.

Other Thoughts: This is overkill for 3ft. Cat6 (500mhz) or Cat6A (550mhz) is going to work over 3ft even on 10GBase-T.
Overkill is not necessarily a bad thing in wiring networks though, and the extra shielding in cat7 is definitely important over longer runs even if you are only supporting gigabit.
The DIY cable place does not sell relief boots of this quality, nor do they sell 600mhz cable yet.

5 out of 5 eggsExactly what you need for 10gE

Pros: It's a shielded Cat7 cable, which is simple by design. Great if you have routers/switches capable of 10gE or you need a shielded cable, but it's a bit overkill for anything else. Cable is sturdy, and the snag-free boots are well designed and soft enough to use without issue.

Cons: None
