5 out of 5 eggsGreat Value

Pros: I purchased a few of these cables pretty cheaply, less than the 2.0 version. Newer standard, gold plated and a solid cable.

Testing a small RAID enclosure with two 5400rpm SATA drives, 129/128 MB/s sequential read/writes. This performance is the same when connected to my USB 3.0 front panel headers.

Cons: Wish they were 6 ft.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks

Pros: Works. Before I was getting 220MB/s, and with the extension 220MB/s.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: The cable appears to be thick and durable.

3 out of 5 eggscuts speeds less then half

Pros: does the job of extending my usb

Cons: cuts speed less then half

Other Thoughts: i have a Team X101 64GB and it cuts my speed for 70 MB/s down to less then 35... same as if i plug it into a USB 2.0 slot.... although i did not buy this for my USB i bought it for my keyboard and it works well with that. i wanted a USB 3.0 just in case.

2 out of 5 eggsSlower speeds and unreliable transfers

Pros: Cheap but you get what you pay for, I guess.

Cons: Unreliable speed and file transfers make this cable useless to me.

Other Thoughts: I got this cable today to pair with a Hitach Touro mobile harddrive. It sees the drive but in testing the transfer speeds are much lower using this cable and it freezes up for long periods during transfers.

What's worse is on one test file I tried copying back from the external drive, Windows stopped and said the file no longer existed. I rebooted and it did the same thing again. I removed this extension cable and plugged the drive directly in to the same usb 3.0 port and there were no problem.

3 out of 5 eggsWorks but speed unreliable

Pros: Inexpensive.
Hitachi Touro mobile Hdd does work but speed takes a hit

Cons: Speeds are unreliable, freezes while copying

Other Thoughts: I just got this cable today. I have a brand new Hitachi Touro mobile drive. Since the USB 3.0 ports are in back of my case I wanted a cable long enough to bring the drive to the front. This cable works but speeds were way less than without. Plus it would randomly freeze while transferring files.

My drive only had a 1foot long cable included so I guess it's possible any cable would see reduced speeds. This drive draws it's power from the usb 3.0 port as well. So, this extension cable did work, just not nearly as well as I hoped.

5 out of 5 eggsUSB3 Speeds Confirmed

Pros: - Supports USB 3.0 speeds.
- Cable is thick and sturdy.
- Ends are gold plated.
- Price is low.

I was skeptical based on others' reviews of this cable and other USB3 cables but I can attest that this cable does indeed support USB3 speeds. I have a Mushkin Ventura Pro 32GB USB3 Stick and I get the same exact speeds with this cable as I do without:

129 MB/s Seq Read
87 MB/s Seq Write

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Before buying this cable, I had tried a regular USB cable and it did not do USB3 speeds. If you want a cable that does USB3 speeds, buy this one.

1 out of 5 eggsDoes not function as USB 3.0

Pros: Inexpensive cable, gold plated. If you're looking for a USB 2.0 cable this one's for you.

Cons: All USB 3.0 devices are downgraded to USB2.0 when this cable is in use. The cost to return it is more than double the cost of the cable.

Other Thoughts: I have a dozen or so USB 2.0 extension cables, so this one is useless to me.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,
Is the USB port that you are plugging this cable into a USB 3.0 port? If not, then you won't get USB 3.0 speeds. If the port is USB 2.0, then a USB 3.0 cable won't bump the speeds up to USB 3.0. Please make sure that this is not the case. If you are still having issues after that, please contact the Rosewill support team either via phone at 800-575-9885 or via email at techsupport@rosewill.com.
Thanks,
Rosewill Customer Care

1 out of 5 eggsDO NOT BUY

Pros: Works for USB 2.0 drives

Cons: This cable doesn't even recognize USB 3.0 thumb drives or external hard drives.

False advertising

Other Thoughts: Its a USB2.0 patch cable with blue tips.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,
Is this cable being plugged into a USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 port? What motherboard are you using? Will it not recognize USB 3.0 devices at all or will they be working at USB 2.0 speeds? There is a big difference between the two of those. If it doesn't recognize USB 3.0 devices at all and recognizes USB 2.0 devices, then it looks like there is something else going on there. All USB 3.0 devices will work in USB 2.0 ports so they should at least work at USB 2.0 speeds at the very least. Also, if you are expecting to get USB 3.0 speeds out of a USB 2.0 port using this cable, then that will not happen. The cable will only be as fast as the USB port that it is connected to. Please contact the Rosewill support team either via phone at 800-575-9885 or via email at techsupport@rosewill.com so that we can assist you with your issue.
Thanks,
Rosewill Customer Care
