3 out of 5 eggsWorks good... but there's a catch

Pros: -Long
-Good looking

Cons: -Did not mention in the description that the plastic is made with mercury, which can cause cancer, birth defects, etc. and is not presented until the cable is out of the wrap and in your hands. I find it odd that this would be the case, and for them to not say anything until the last minute is quite strange.

Other Thoughts: Like I said in the cons, I find it odd that something could slip by. Other than that, it works fine. It's long and fast, so I'm not sure what else you can ask for.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: 2 feet (24") SATA 3 cables with Locking Latches . I bought 2 of these for my case, currently only using 1 since i dint need the second 1. They work like they should, they are red (don't fit in with the color of my case and components) but i bought it knowing this and all i care about is performance, almost a year since i bought them and have been using them and they have worked like a charmed so far, no issues.

Cons: The locking latch's feel a bit flimsy and cheap, but they stay connected.

5 out of 5 eggsRosewill Model RCAB-11051 24" SATA III Red Flat Cable w/ Locking Latch, Supports 6 Gbps, 3 Gbps, and 1.5 Gbps

Pros: Very long, metal clips, red, flat cable.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Didn't actually use this cable in my mid size tower, it was too long and an extra. I purchased it with 3 other cables just to make sure i had long enough cables for my build. Would work great to tuck it behind the mobo if needed.

I think Newegg should do a cable package with multiple length cables, they may have one but i never saw anything.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat cables!

Pros: These cables are very cablie!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Why am I reviewing cables?

5 out of 5 eggsGreat cable, but, not for every application!

Pros: Sata III, 6GB/s capable, very nice quality, well put together cable.
24 inches will gives you flexibility to reach anywhere in most ATX cases.
Locking clips are a plus. If you have to work inside your computer, you are less likely to accidentally pull a cable loose.

Cons: I can't find any cons.

Other Thoughts: While this is a very nice sata III cable, and is backwards compatible, It may not always be the best for your application. I tried it in several different motherboards, All of them had sata boards that accepted the locking clip. The cable locked securely in all of them. This is not necessarily so with sata devices. The sata hard drives that I tried with this cable, even the sata III drives, did not have provisions for using the locking clips. Some sata connectors were not deep enough to allow the clips to engage and others had a lot of space around the connector so there was nothing touching the clip at all. The cable still worked fine, but the clip redundant. So, not a problem, but don't buy the cable for the locking feature if you can't use it. I tried the cable on a ide/sata to usb adapter. It would not fit at all. The clip adds just a bit of thickness to the connecter, just enough that it would not go into the sata port on the adapter. So, make sure you can use the clips before you buy.

4 out of 5 eggsAnother red SATA cable

Pros: SATA cables remind me of an old commercial that used to show up on local television. It was for a tire place and the guy would say ‘Tires aren’t pretty and they don’t make you feel good’. Well that’s pretty much my take on SATA cables. You need them and you need them to work well and other then that you don’t want to think about them. But when one goes bad then you have to think about them.
The cable in question is called a ‘high quality’ cable. It’s 24 inches long from the end of one black conn to the other. Most standard cables tend to be 20 inches long so you’ve got an extra 4 inches in the Rosewill cable. This is important if you have a full sized tower or have to thread the cable around obstacles in your case.
This Rosewill cable is a SATA III cable, also known as a 6 Gbits cable. Now to be honest I’m of the belief that a SATA cable is a SATA cable no matter what it’ called. The SATA specification has gone from one to two to three over the years but the cable spec has stayed the same. Sure, we got clips on the cables when we went from SATA I to SATA II but other than that they all look the same. Supposedly the newer ones use higher quality materials that allow higher transfer rates but I suspect that’s a lot of marketing hooey.
Anyway, this is listed as a SATA III cable and I’m going to take it as such. It’s red but then ninety percent of them are red. I’ve got a few black cables and I’ve seen orange and blue and yellow and I’ve even had a rare white cable but take my word for it that most of them are red. And the color has no influence on the performance.
I replaced the SATA III cable on my ASUS Z87 board. This is a full sized ATX board in a full sized tower where the 24 inch length of this cable would come in handy. The Rosewill cable fit snugly in the connector with that familiar and comforting ‘snick’ sound that tells you the metal clip has grabbed the connector. The cable on the Rosewill is slightly slimmer and more flexible then some I’ve used but basically it fit just like it was supposed to.
Performance wise it… well it just worked. I’m not going to do a battery of tests on a $5 cable. Speedwise it worked just like the SATA III cable it replaced. I’m running an SATA III SSD that’s as fast as lightening anyway and with the Rosewill cable it was still as fast as lightening. The original ASUS SATA III cable is black and this one is red but that didn’t seem to make any difference.

Cons: Honestly I can’t think of any downside to this cable except you have to buy it. I haven’t ever bought a SATA cable since plenty of them come with a motherboard but I can imagine a user needing one to add an additional hard drive or SSD or optical drive. Price is good but you pay as much shipping as the cost of the cable. 1 egg off for that cash grab.

Other Thoughts: A good product at a fair price if you need it. Face it, a SATA cable is stuck inside your case and hopefully once you install it, you won’t need to worry about it again. I will add that if you need to purchase a cable, buy a SATA III one if only for the peace of mind. Just be aware that the terms SATA III (or SATA 3) and SATA 6 Gbits are thrown around equally and they mean the same thing. And if you don’t like red then I’m sure you can find a cable in a rainbow of colors to please your esthetic.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Cable

Pros: - 24" of pure sata data
- Secure locking mechanism
- Sturdy construction

I like Rosewill products. They always come at a good price and are generally of good construction, and has longevity to back it up.

This particular cable is currently running an OCZ Petrol SSD Sata III drive. Works like a charm and has plenty of distance to get from drive to mobo. Latch locks in nice and tight on both ends.

Regular price of 4.49 isn't terrible in a pinch, but I see this on sale all the time (currently 2.99).

Cons: No cons associated with this product.

Only con I can speak of is that the shipping costs an additional 2.89. I would wait for free shipping, or see if there is a different cable at the same price point with free shipping. I'm really not a fan of paying for shipping.

Other Thoughts: Overall this is a very good product. Most of the sata cables in my PC are Rosewill and I stand by them. Some have been in there for 3 or so years with absolutely no problems.

5 out of 5 eggsIt works and it's inexpensive

Pros: Comes with retention clips.
Good price.

Cons: None, it does exactly what it's supposed to do.

Other Thoughts: I am a fan of Rosewill products and once again they didn't let me down.
