3 out of 5 eggsMaybe a backup cable.

Pros: Price.
It works.

Cons: Graphics are grainy making text hard to read.
(see other thoughts)

Other Thoughts: I thought my old 19" Dell monitor was going out. Turns out it was just this cable. Unplugged a 17" Dell that was my main display after my wife found a 900p monitor in a swap pile. Any who the 17" that looked awesome with the DVI cable that came from dell hooked up has the same grainy look as the old 19". So.. not a monitor problem but a cable problem.

I do recommend buying it onsale and having it for a spare if you're like me and only have plain VGA/DSub cables and monitors laying around. Since the newer graphics cards don't have DSub. Or atleast my HD 7850 doesn't.

5 out of 5 eggsIt's a cable

Pros: Good price, does the job.

Cons: No cons.

Other Thoughts: My old monitor broke, and I had to downgrade to an OLD 1280x1024. At least I have glasses.

5 out of 5 eggsworks perfectly

Pros: This cable will connect the DVI-I male end to a compatible monitor and the VGA end will plug directly into the VGA output of your graphics card/laptop.

I took a gamble on that, since the description specifically said "Connect your VGA monitor to your DVI video port without an adapter."

However, a few minutes of google-fu & I had the Wikipedia page on the DVI specification and the five types of DVI adapters. Specifically, the analog to DVI-I crossover is supposed to be supported natively and should work in either direction.

Since my monitor uses a pair of DVI-I (24 + 5 pins) inputs, this cable performs, flawlessly, the reverse conversion as in its description.

My GPU is an nVidia GT430 with one DVI-I output (used by another, much better monitor) and a VGA output ... now used with this cable by a different monitor.

And, for future use I can reverse the cable in a different situation where I only have DVI-I outputs on my GPU and an analog VGA input available on a monitor. Outstanding flexibility and re-use potential.

Also, I ordered this cable about 4:00 p.m. on a Thursday and it arrived about 12:noon on the next day, Friday. All for a total of under $6.

You really can't beat that with a stick.

At 10 feet, this cable gives me enormous flexibility in use for dual monitor systems and as a secondary monitor for a laptop. It's pretty heavy gauge, too ... it is possible the copper in this cable is worth more than the purchase price.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Just because we can use up to 3000 characters per field of these reviews now doesn't mean we HAVE to.

However, it is fun to try sometimes.
