1 out of 5 eggsNice Aesthetic but Completely Unreliable

Pros: Excellent aesthetic value. They are pliable, and discrete. Great for your build if you want cables to more manageable and less visible. I just wish they were reliable.

Cons: Sadly I have to agree with the review by Ben M. I bought 5 of these cables to run two SSD's and three HDD's. With these cables I constantly had issues with drives disappearing from the BIOS and Windows. When it happened to my boot drive the entire computer would lock up.

The first time I installed Windows 8 it blue-screened during the install. The second attempt worked. Then many, many times within Windows 8 my computer would lock up completely randomly, crash hard, and require a reboot. I would boot only to find no OS drive detected. In BIOS the drives had disappeared. Had to disconnect all drives except the boot drive for it to be recognized and then reconnect the other 4 drives one-by-one. Back in Windows I would see thousands of warnings/errors about the drives/drive controller in EventViewer.

So I thought it was the motherboard BIOS. Numerous BIOS flashes made no difference. I thought it was the firmware on my drives, so I updated them and no difference. I thought it might be the chipset or VRM getting too hot, but I'm running six 140mm chassis fans with beefy motherboard heatsinks. I updated the Intel SATA controller drivers, no change. I was about to RMA my motherboard, thinking it must be bad SATA ports.

Instead I tried some regular-size SATA cables. I hate the aesthetics of them. They are stiff and hard to manage well (that's why I went with Rosewell's slim design). The rest of my build has excellent cable management and these are an eyesore. But they work. My system has now been running flawlessly for over a week in a number of heavy usage scenarios. Drives are no longer dropping from BIOS, which had been a daily occurance. The problem has disappeared.

So, apparently these cables use thinner wire (28 AWG vs the industry standard 26 AWG) and surely lack industry standard EMI/cross-talk shielding. The cables are about half the thickness of a standard SATA cable. I made the mistake of trusting the 5/5 Eggs rating on these cables. I normally like Rosewill but this product is flaky and made my system unstable.

5 out of 5 eggsGood product

Pros: I didn't measure before ordering so this is a Standard Length cable which did me know good. But I did test 1 on my SSD drive and it worked perfectly.

Cons: If your looking for longer cable don't get this one it is a standard size SATA cable that comes with most motherboards today.

5 out of 5 eggsNice cable

Pros: Very thin, longer than I estimated I'd need for routing from an SSD mounted behind the motherboard. Much thinner than the included cables with my motherboard. Bends easily. Sure does lock into place with a nice click. Nice n cheap.

Cons: None, no problems with it.

Other Thoughts: Writing reviews for things that work perfectly is easy.

1 out of 5 eggsUtter Garbage

Pros: None

Cons: Terrible cables. Consistently would either drop SATA connection completely (causing SSD's not to show up in BIOS) or cause SATA 3.0 link speed (6 GB/s) to drop to SATA 2.0 (3 GB/s) link speed. Tried 4 of these cables with multiple SSD drives in multiple configurations with the same bad results. Replaced these cables with other generic SATA cables, which worked fine.

Part of problem may be that these SATA cables use 28 GA wire (as stated on their jacket) as opposed to the thicker 26 GA wire used on virtually all other SATA cables. Also cables are extremely thin, which may indicate inadequate shielding. Use at your own risk!

5 out of 5 eggsDoes what it's supposed to do

Pros: Small design and slim cable, really fast SATA III 6GB/S. Perfect for a solid state drive! The locking mechanism is also a nice bonus

Cons: If you have a huge computer case or the SATA connectors on your motherboard are far away, the length may become an issue, but 99% of the time it should be fine. Long enough for my mid-tower ATX

Other Thoughts: If I need more cables I'll probably get this same one
