Not all the PSUs are constructed with generous-length cables and some graphics cards contain unreasonably located power connectors that are hard to reach, which will result in strained connection that causes inconvenience for installation or even damage to your hardware. Engineered with this in mind, the Rosewill 6-pin to 6+2-pin power extension cable delivers a 'relaxed' connection without compromising current or performance. It's also a great addition to high-end computer chassis with backpanel cable routing. The cable is individually sleeved in a black enclosure for a sleeker look that seamlessly integrates into the case's interior.

Make the cable yours today and power up your system.

4 out of 5 eggsRosewill Cable Extensions

Pros: They look very nice inside your case, and can give your case the clean feel of cable management with little work.

Cons: As mentioned in nearly every review for every Rosewill cable extension, they are not amazing quality. They come preshaped out of the package, and will not hold any other form other than the original on their own. You can get them to bend another direction, but be prepared to ziptie them in order to get them to stay that way.

Other Thoughts: If you have money to waste, look into a custom set of sleeved cables for your psu (some brands even sell entire sets for some of their modular psu's). If you do not, then this is good bang for your buck.

5 out of 5 eggsA little extension goes a long way

Pros: Finding something positive to say beyond the accolade already provided is a challenge. Being late to review something has the benefit of examining other comments but also the burden of trying to be original.

So, here goes:
This is a sub $4 extension which is very well made, very good value and will add 10". Umm - best not read that out of context!

6>6 or 6>8 pins which is handy if connecting an older but still trustworthy power supply to a new monster graphics card.

Cons: No pre-rip edge on packaging - you'll need scissors or a knife to get at it.

Other Thoughts: Initially I thought the individual braided wrapping of the cables wasteful - making it bulky. However, when comparing it with other extension cables which are bundled into a thick single sleeve I have decided that the multiple strands make for a more flexible cable able to bend around corners with ease where my other cable extension fail.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid built

Pros: Cost effective way to adapter 6 pin to either 6 or 8 PIN VGA power.
Sleeved and is even but sleeving is not permanently attached. (slides around). Braiding is a nice touch. Connections look and feel solid unlike some cheapo MOLEX plugs that require a fight to get them seated properly.

Cons: Not so much a con but I thought for a minute the wires were coming out of the plugs but it was the sleeving that was moving up and down and not the actual wires themselves.

Other Thoughts: Well done. Nice looking, functional and very affordable

Make sure you measure. My unit is about about 10 inches from tip to tip including the plugs. A longer version might be nice for those building a show rig. Depending on how your cables are routed the connector may seen on both ends thus showing mismatched cabling. just a thought.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect

Pros: This product looks good and functions. There isn't much to it; it's essentially an extension cable for anyone running a full ATX set/server setup that needs a little extra reach from their PSU to the graphics card.

In a few weeks of solid use, I haven't had a single problem, as one might expect. This connector has 1 single job and it does it just fine. This is why I gave it 5 stars.

My current setup includes a mid-ATX case, but this cable extension is great for rerouting cables back and out of the way. I've been about a 2ºC drop in temps due to better airflow through the case.

Cons: As others have pointed out, the wrap on the wires, and in particular, the heat shrunk fitting at the end of them, slides very easily along the wire. The heat shrink fitting doesn't actually hold onto the wire as you'd expect. In reality, this doesn't affect functionality, but if Rosewill is going to include this, they should at least do it right. It really makes me worry that just tugging and pulling on this while installed/trying to install is going to cause me to accidentally rip a wire loose.

Otherwise, not much to report. It works!

Other Thoughts: There really isn't a whole lot to report on with simple hardware like this. As I mentioned, this device has one job and it does it alright. I think if I was running a full tower setup, I might want it to be slightly longer; this length gave me just enough to go a thorough job of wiring everything out of the way and tied off. But I have a mid ATX case. Anything larger would be a stretch. This also could be due to my power supply.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Modder's Cable

Pros: This cable is really made for someone that wants a nicer looking cable setup in their rig. I'm able to use this cable to extend and reroute my cables to a better location and increase air flow.

Nice quality plastic and cable overing with no frayed ends.

The braids look good with a red light glowing on them.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Just measure before buying this cable that it will fit.

I have a Corsair case with nice black cables that match this almost perfectly.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Looking Cable & High Quality

Pros: - High quality Cable
- Beautiful Single Sleeving Looks Very Sleek
- Adds 10" to those Graphics Card Power Cables from the Power Supply Unit That would otherwise be too short.
- Dresses up the look inside your case as well. This cable can be used just to better the look of your cables. Connect it to your graphics card and hide your ugly wires behind the motherboard tray.
- Firm connections and contacts won't come loose.
- Supports both 6 pin and 8 pin graphics cards
- Converts a 6 pin power supply cable into an 8 pin graphics card cable

Cons: - At 10" it could be a little short if you have your graphics card further away from a case cabling hole which would prevent you from completely hiding your ugly cable completely.
However, 90% of the time this wouldn't be an issue and honestly I couldn't think of any Cons for this. =)

5 out of 5 eggsGreat extension,no extra draw

Pros: 10",very high quality, braided,no loss measured

Cons: None at all.

Other Thoughts: When I was asked to review this product I thought all that would do is cause additional draw on system due to fact of extending wires past mfg. specifications of the power supply and then I realized in my own system I run a 1000w power supply that has fixed cables so what a better test system.
I installed with high end watt meter that catches everything and I ran my system through all tests related to maxing the slot out and before and after results were exactly the same with only normal variables seen.
I love my power supply because it has the best power quality I have ever tested and that means stability in extreme overclocks.
I was Thought soon I would have to part with it due to it's cpu cable and 24 pin cable length but now I know all I have to do is order some of Rosewill's cable extensions for those and I may keep my beloved power supply w/o worry and upgrade my case.
A Review I thought was just boring and turned out to be an eye opener.
P.S. I had tried an extension before and it was flimsy and showed marked additional amp draw, sure not a lot but any just makes your system work harder and your component to have to work for it.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Serves the intended purpose of being an extension cable quite well. Has a neutral color scheme too.

The cord works fine on a 6-pin GPU (2 wires will be unused though of course).

Cons: The sleeve on the ends of the wires can come out. If you're careful with this cable, this shouldn't happen, but once it happens, it could be a pain to put it back. This does not impact the functionality of the cable though.

Other Thoughts: Can't say I've seen a GPU with a 6+2 power port, but if you only have a 6-pin cable from your PSU, this cable could help.

May also be nice if you're trying to keep an overall color scheme to the inside of your case (perhaps you don't like your PSU's cable).

Tested on a hec 585W PSU and Radeon HD 7850 GPU.

2 out of 5 eggsHow Can a Cable be Flawed?

Pros: Looks neat.

Length is as advertised.

The wires themselves don't come loose despite rough handling.

Cons: The sleeving is prone to coming loose with little provocation. So what was meant to be a clean looking install becomes a frayed mess because you had the pertinacity to actually bend the cables like you normally would...

Wasteful packaging. Why must it be in an anti-static metalized plastic bag?

I think the sleeving is ridiculous. It adds unnecessary bulk, makes the wires thinner to accommodate that bulk and it serves little purpose outside of looks and maybe as a shield for abrasive edges in cheap cases.

I think it's ill-advised to use this to make an 8 pin card only use 6 pins on the power supply. If your card uses 8 pins it's for a good reason and you might end up stressing your PSU or video card too much because of it. I mean, you should be able to get away with it but it's still a real added risk if your power supply is super cheap or rather old.

Other Thoughts: The only reason to buy this is if you needed an extension cable and/or like the sleeved look.

In that respect this cable had very little to do, and yet it failed at 50% of its job. The sleeving, while fairly tight around the wires, still comes undone with almost no encouragement. Bending it like normal causes some of the sleeving to slip and good luck trying to get it back in. That pretty much makes this useless as a product regardless of any other nitpicking you might have.

4 out of 5 eggsGood quality buy flawed

Pros: The wires themselves are bonded extremely well to the metal shrouds. I pulled very hard and couldn’t get any to slip off or out of their sockets like cheaper cables. Despite many design problems, the cables measured at an acceptable resistance level and carried power to my card just fine.

Cons: Right out of the bag, the connecting cables to the 6+2 end didn’t look right. I wiggled them and noticed that the outer mesh coating is practically disconnected. The heatshrink tubing slid freely down the cable and took the mesh with it. Unfortunately, the mesh was also poorly bonded to the heat shrink material as well and when one slipped off, it frayed irreparably. This flaw is only cosmetic and it didn’t get in the way too much of the installation.

Wiggling the cable ends caused the sockets to move slightly too in their plastic casing, which can cause aggravating misalignment problems when trying to plug it in. Once your computer is assembled, this is no longer a problem so it is a very small nuisance that you only have to put up with one time.

The plastic that was used to house the end connectors is the lightweight, shiny, brittle type of plastic that is only used for the cheapest of cables. That’s unfortunate considering the great quality of the soldering and metal interior. The release levers are extremely stiff and difficult to grip. Historically, I have found this type of plastic holds up to heat poorly and fractures with little force.

Other Thoughts: The outer packaging has a metallic backing and clear front which clearly displays the cable inside. This is great for a retail setting and there is a punched hole in the top for rack hanging as well. Unfortunately, it’s not the best for retail uses because of the bending and creasing that happened during shipping. It still looks impressive on the shelf, just not flawless. The front label says exactly what it is along with all specs, which is really helpful. Overall, I’d say it’s a good enough presentation for retail resale. The quality problems though make it a less than ideal product for any vendor to carry.
