5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Nice features, great price. Bought it on sale for $15.99

Cons: Not so much a con but a bit more than other thoughts, I think it would be nice if the display had a detachable cord from the plug unit, to be able to run the cord for the display through the hole in my desk for cords and not around the back of it because the display doesn't fit through it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: Has been working splendidly for over 2 years now. It's basically my computers surge protector while showing wattage usage from the wall. Nice

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsVery Nice Product - Exactly What I Needed

Pros: Simple, Effective, Good Quality, Cable is a great feature, Easy to read LCD Screen.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I bought this because I wanted something to be able to monitor wattage from my PC setup so I knew what size UPS unit to purchase. This worked great. Plus I'll be using it around the house when doing some rewiring to map out voltage and amperage usage. The cord makes it very easy and nice to use.

4 out of 5 eggsUnique enough and cheap enough to be worth it.

Pros: The extra screen with cord is everything. It makes a huge difference having this on my desk rather than having to dig around behind stuff to take a reading. Its dirt cheap compared to the competition and as the saying goes, there are no bad products, only bad prices, and at the $15 I paid for it, its a good price! It even stays out of the way of the bottom socket if you plug it into the top one.

Cons: It advertises a lot of 'features' that really aren't worth much, its sample rate is only about one per second. I doubt its accuracy is very tight, I wouldn't take scientific measurements with it for sure. No way I can see to turn off the night light other than opening it up.

Other Thoughts: None of the cons really matter if you just assume from the get go that this is a watt meter/night light with remote screen, nothing more, nothing less. Its only $15, and its a great value at that price. I bought one at $19, and when I saw it at $15 I bought another. :)

3 out of 5 eggsDoesn't measure Volt Amps VA or Power factor

Pros: Cabled remote display

Cons: Doesn't measure Volt Amps VA or Power Factor so "Watts" will not be consistently accurate for different loads (motors vs resistive lamps or "green" appliances"

Illuminated "protected" light bar across the top. Do I need yet another darn lit up light in any of my rooms? Really. This is also too huge to magic marker over, so it's duct tape time. And now how attractive is that?

Other Thoughts: Volt Amps VA and/or power factor tell how "resistive" (=== Green in today's parlance) a load is. That's the true measure of load and cost . That's also what you need to properly size a UPS (in particular VA ratings should be compared to VA ratings)

2 out of 5 eggsNice Product, but Short Lifespan

Pros: -Measures electrical output/cost.
-Cheap.

Cons: -Lasted just over a year(out of warranty of course) on very light usage before it went dead.

Other Thoughts: Severe lack of quality seems to be a theme with Rosewill products. I also had an issue with one of their external hard drive enclosures. Guess you pay for what you get.

3 out of 5 eggsDisappointing

Pros: - I only paid $15

- Separate display is nice
- Maintains a rolling average to compute cost/co2

Cons: - Doesn't measure power factor, so consumption will probably be inaccurate for loads that aren't purely resistive
- Doesn't keep track of total measurement time, so you can't compute average consumption unless you keep track of the start time yourself
- Timer function isn't a schedule, it's just minutes to off ... not very useful
- Wire comes out the back, so if you try to put it on a wall where the outlet is flush to the wall, the wire will be bent sharply where it comes out of the unit. Rosewill should change the design so the wire comes out the side instead.
- No battery backup; loses everything if power is cut.
- Giant green "PROTECTED" at the top of the plug, illuminated, of course

Other Thoughts: Only after buying this do I realized how good a plain-ole "kill-a-watt" is.

3 out of 5 eggsDoes the job.

Pros: - Seems to be accurate. I tested it with a 100W lightbulb (readout was exactly 100W). I was surprised that my computer only consumed around 350W, when I was expecting it to use over 500
- Cable comes at a convenient length for setting the display where it is visible.

Cons: - Out of the box, I had a defective LCD display. The last number on the display is not visible from most angles. (who screws up LCD these days? cmon)

Other Thoughts: I got this product on sale at $25, so I'm fairly pleased with it.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as Advertised

Pros: -Shows my power drawn from the wall
-The cable allows me to put the monitor on my desk

Cons: -None so far

Other Thoughts: -The green light on it does not turn off, but I guess this is expected of a power-related device.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat visual tool

Pros: Gives digital read-out of watts used
Many other features that I don't need/use

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Proved to me that I had way too big of a power supply and was not utilizing the power supply to its potential. Ordered a smaller power supply for that computer and used the current 750 for my new build instead of buying another big watt supply. A few bucks for this saved me a lot on a different purchase.
