5 out of 5 eggsGood Quality Extension cable

Pros: Good sleeving quality
Cheap
Works with 3 pin fans as well

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Used to extend both 3pin and 4pin things, such as case fans or pumps.

4 out of 5 eggsGood product

Pros: Good quality product. Fairly robust construction.
Nicer than non-sleeved wires that look like a birds nest.

Cons: Ridiculous customer service rep claiming it is not a power cable.

Other Thoughts: C'mon Newegg! I got an email deal promo for 20% off all internal power cables, and this was listed. Then the promo would not load so I emailed customer service. The response was that this is not a power cable, it is an extension cable. All I could do was shake my head....
You owe me $1.60... :)

5 out of 5 eggsWork like listed

Pros: Sleeving was high quality, and the heat shrink was properly done on the sleeving not just caped over so i can fall out. you also cant see any colorful wires which is a big pro for me in black and multi led colored case.

Cons: The sleeving makes the wires very stiff near the ends, and the heat shrink is not that flexible eaither

Other Thoughts: I find it really weird writing a review on a product that we don't think of but being someone with trial and error happening you think why not this or this would be better.

this item was a good cable choice

4 out of 5 eggsGood!

Pros: Good, high quality cable overall. They are braided! OOOOH! see how you love it! lol. You can link them together! Make sure you buy 2 because they are way cheaper in bulk of 2 AND you get 2 times cable length! AWESOME for cable managment!

Cons: The contacts have some costmetic flaws. Chips/cracks on the cable contacts where it connects. It's nothing that would effect it's performance though. New might want to pack theyre items a little better. Maybe put some cardboard in it for protection.

1 out of 5 eggsBe careful. Quality control is a problem.

Pros: Braided sleeving and heat shrink wrapped ends provide a clean, professional, look that will not clutter or detract from the inside of your case and allows you to re-route fan connections efficiently. 4-wire design allows you to relocate your PWM and other 4-pin fan connections.

Cons: The heat shrink tubing on the male end (where you connect your fan) hides a serious quality control issue. Because of the type of connector (the type normally used as a pcb header), the wires are simply soldered on to the bottom side. There is no plastic to partition / separate the pins and wires (as there is on the startech brand). Their solution for this is to manually add small heat shrink sleeving over each wire and pin after soldering. Unfortunately there is no consistency on how many wires and how much of the exposed wire, solder, and pin, are covered. Across two orders, there was wide variance. Only one had all four wires sleeved, a couple had only the 12v and Tach wire sleeved, and unfortunately for me, several were missing the sleeving entirely. Additionally, the quality of the soldering is hit and miss. This allows the pins and wires to contact each other inside the larger sleeving. The result for me was burned out fan headers, and unknown further damage.

Other Thoughts: The only way to know if you have a good or bad cable is to remove the sleeving on the male end. The danger is that without checking, you could very easily get one with no sleeving on the wires /solder/pins and then it will eventually contact or arc and burn out your components. One one that I had, the 12v and ground arced/contacted and re-soldered themselves together, then there was a nice puff of smoke from the fan header on my motherboard. The only advantage to this vs. the startech is that it has the braided sleeving. But for the sake of your motherboard, fans, and sanity, go with the startech that uses the proper male terminal. Unless of course, you want to roll the dice for aesthetics.
