4 out of 5 eggsWorks

Pros: Does what its suppose to do. mounted it with the adhesive pad and included screws without any issue.

Cons: Took one egg away because the sata port is mounted upside down. I use right angle sata cables for all my sata devices and they wont work with this adapter.

Other Thoughts: If you are looking use this with right angled sata cables be warned. You need left angled or strait connectors.

3 out of 5 eggsOk but could be better

Pros: Works properly. Cheap!

Cons: Placement of connectors is not ideal. YMMV depending on your case, but I think there are probably better options out there. Using a SuperMicro case I had to file down the audio connector so that I could remove the slim DVD drive bay without issue. Might not be an issue with your case.

1 out of 5 eggs2 defective adapters, random missing screws.

Pros: It's cheap, but after you replace it a few times, that goes out the window.

And of course, NewEgg's excellent customer service.

Cons: On my 2nd one, first one died while burning a CD - ran fine for about 2 or 3 months for what its worth.

Just received my 2nd adapter, didn't come with the small specialty screws required to install it (the original one I ordered did come with them). Also, it was DOA.

WinSys also has a practically non-existent RMA process, but at the price you pay, just swallow the loss and move on.

Other Thoughts: If you are looking to install a slim DVD-RW drive in a HTPC, just buy one which uses SATA, and get the slim SATA to molex power adapter instead. Way more stable, straight forward, and better quality. You pay a few bucks more, but it's well worth it.

Bottom line is you get what you pay for, when you buy cheap parts - you're playing Russian Roulette with your time and effort. If you score one of these which works, consider yourself lucky.

1 out of 5 eggsWaste of money

Pros: Designed to do what I needed...

Cons: Doesn't work, poorly designed

Other Thoughts: Had to remove the small white plastic things and the foam adhesive pad to make it have complete contact... I insulated the back with a piece of plastic so no metal would make contact, and held it in place with electrical tape.

Won't let the computer finish POST.

Was missing the screws

Lost the little plastic things, and threw away the cardboard box, so I can't RMA.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks Great, bad screws

Pros: This little adapter works great. I have a couple of slim drives that were pulled out of small form factor desktop machines and this adapter makes it easy to re-use it in a SATA system.

Cons: The screws that were included were two short to go all the way through the plastic stand-offs. Luckily I already had some screws that worked.

The adapter does not attach very firmly on its own by just using the compact ATA connector, so good screws are a must.

Other Thoughts: Contrary to the written description, this adapter only has a single audio connector. Not a problem, just not accurate.
